This beautiful hotel is situated in Lasithi, Crete, in Greece. The Heraklion International Airport is about an hour away from the complex. Guests will be delighted by the stunning outdoor swimming pool and its area where having a refreshing swim or sunbathing is total different experience since it is facing the wonderful Cretan Sea. The restaurants and bars offer delicious meals and drinks along with an agreeable atmosphere that allow travellers have a very enjoyable time. The sophisticated rooms are decorated with a combination of light and warm colours to create a cosy feeling. They are equipped with comfortable beds and with all the essential amenities to please even the most demanding guest.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We have just returned (May 26) from the Royal Marmin Bay Hotel, and wanted to share our experience. We booked this as a British Airways Holiday, which included airport transfers which was a bonus as the hotel is about an hour and twenty minutes by car from Heraklion Airport. The hotel is built into the side of a mountain overlooking the most beautiful bay and is equidistant from the seaside villages of Elounda (30 min walk) and Plaka (25 min walk). Though the walk to Elounda is easier as it's paved most of the way. Taxis are readily available and charge a flat fee of ten euros to either, both offer great restaurants and bars. Or, if you want to go farther Agios Nikolaos is about half an hour away by taxi, with again a flat fee of twenty five euros. The hotel is built over a series of terraces, with all rooms facing the bay so all have stunning views. The standard rooms are on the lower levels so are affected by road noise. The superior rooms are above the pool level, so quieter. We had a standard room which was really comfortable, but have to say we didn't use the balcony as much as we maybe would have. As the gradients between each level are really steep. access around the hotel is by golf buggies driven by staff or via external lifts (again with stunning views). The pool area is on one of the higher levels, with sunbeds and seating areas all of which offer panoramic views of the bay. The pool itself is quite shallow so just really for cooling off. The private beach area is quite small, and is close to the road, but was regularly used by the hotel guests. Food, in the main dining room was lovely and served as buffets, there are two a la carter restaurants which are excellent. What really makes this hotel though, is the staff. They were so helpful, polite, welcoming and always willing to help. We had a great week here, and would highly recommend anyone to give it a try.
Location great although steep climbs between levels meant it's not really possible to walk around site. This also detracts from atmosphere, although rooms and public areas are beautifully decorated and well maintained. Water in rooms are charged alongside mini bar at hotel prices.. Currently €3.50 a bottle. It's €1.30 for six bottles in local supermarket! Coffee pods for machine are also charged Spa prices advertised had gone up without notification. We were not informed of complimentary 30 minute massage until we were booking paid service. Dinner is 7.30 which may not suit everyone and is an issue for some . Wine tasting was a good experience. Staff are generally delightful and obliging. Only wine glasses and espresso cups in room although could probably get others on request Balconies do not have sun for much of the day so rooms with jacuzzi or pool might be disappointing as they cost substantially more.
Best scenic views the wife + myself have seen on holidays. The atmosphere of the hotel is amazing, staff superb, will be great to see them again this year. We've had loads of hols as have other people, but this is the first time "ever" we've returned to the same place, it was that nice xx
Our stay at the Royal Marmin Bay was extremely disappointing. We spent one night here after traveling in Greece for 10 days. The service was terrible. When checking in, my friend and i were struggling to get our bags up a step, through a door and to the hotel lobby. The woman at the front desk just watched, offering no help and not even opening the door for us. Afterwards she told us to take the bags back out the door. We did get some help transporting the bags to our room, which required carrying them down multiple sets of stairs. The room smelled musty/moldy and my allergies immediately got bad after entering. We asked front desk employees a few questions during our stay and all but one employee was rude and unhelpful. When we were leaving, we purchased olive oil from the attached shop. We were hoping to ship home, but of course that was not an option. We then needed to pack in our suitcase which was being held because we had checked out. We were shown to a narrow dark hallway and told we could do it there. When i asked if they had anything we could wrap the bottles in i was told no immediately. The experience was a terrible end to an otherwise amazing vacation. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel since the staff appears to dislike guests.
We have just returned from a fantastic stay at Royal Marmin Bay Boutique & Art Hotel and wanted to thank the entire team for making our holiday so memorable.
The hotel itself is beautifully positioned overlooking Mirabello Bay, with stunning views from almost every corner. The location is ideal, peaceful and relaxing, yet close enough to explore Elounda, Plaka and Spinalonga. The adults-only atmosphere creates a calm and luxurious environment that is perfect for unwinding.
Our room, patio and private pool were excellent, spacious, spotlessly clean, comfortable, and with wonderful sea views. The housekeeping team did an outstanding job throughout our stay and consistently maintained the room to a very high standard.
The food was also excellent, with plenty of variety and high-quality ingredients. We particularly appreciated the freshness of everything and the friendliness and professionalism of the restaurant staff, who always greeted us with a smile and made every meal enjoyable.
What really sets this hotel apart, however, is its people.
From the reception team who were always welcoming and helpful, to the housekeeping staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, every member of staff genuinely seemed to care about ensuring guests had a great experience.
A special mention must go to Marios from Guest Relations. During our stay my partner experienced some medical issues, and Marios went above and beyond to help us. His flexibility, kindness, responsiveness and genuine concern made a difficult situation far easier to manage. Nothing was too much trouble, and he consistently found solutions whenever we needed assistance. It is rare to meet someone so dedicated to ensuring guests enjoy their stay, and he is a real credit to the hotel.
Luxury hotels can have beautiful rooms, great food and stunning views, but it is the people who create lasting memories. The entire team at Royal Marmin Bay succeeded in doing exactly that.
Thank you all for a wonderful holiday. We would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and high-quality stay in Crete.
