- Elounda Orama Boutique Hotel

The ideal location of Elounda Orama hotel offers recreation and entertainment for all ages. The hotel is located right on the waterfront of Mirabello Bay in elite town of Elounda. All three buildings of the hotel are turned with a terrace to the seaside so most rooms offer panoramic sea views and Elounda view. In walking distance from the hotel there is a sand and pebble beach. The distance from the international airport of Heraklion is 65 km and 10 km from the town of Agios Nikolaos. Based on an architectural philosophy that highlights the smooth blend of natural stone and wood, the hotel's design combines elements of Cretan tradition with modern luxury. All facilities are ideal for couples, offering romantic settings for two, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of nature.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
This is my second visit to this hotel with my first being in June 24. The first time we had a very warm welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This time it was a different experience. We decided to make use of a hire car from the airport to use during our stay in Crete as we knew the hotel had a secure car park. Upon arriving at the hotel my husband dropped me off to get directions to the car park but the lady on reception wouldn’t tell me where it was until we had checked in and been shown around the hotel. I explained we had stayed before so knew our way around but she still refused to give us directions to the car park. We had been travelling for a long time and just wanted to park the car, get into our room to relax. It took a very uncomfortable conversation to obtain the directions to the car park. Our room its self was ok. We had a few issues. Firstly on numerous occasions there was no hot water whatsoever for showers. We were told it’s because we’re not using the AC. It’s not warm enough for the AC. So complete nonsense. Secondly there was a constant leak from our toilet all over the bath room floor. I had to clean this 2/3 times a day. Also one day when we did have the AC on, there was a very strong smell or urine and drains coming from it. Not ideal. Lastly there was no milk or whitener supplied for tea and coffees. Quick few notes on breakfast. Quality last year was so much better. No scrambled eggs just powdered egg omlette, fried eggs like bullets swimming in oil and the coffee is awful. We only had breakfast in the hotel twice in a full week. It’s such a shame and I feel sad to write this. As a professional within the travel industry I speak to many customers and recommend the Orama however after this recent experience I now won’t. Elounda is stunning and we will come back but will choose to stay elsewhere In Future. Please think about a warmer welcome to guests as this will set the tone for their experience. Our welcome was rude and unhelpful
From the moment we arrived , we were greeted by the lovely Kostas . A warm , friendly welcome. He took us to our room that had a lovely spacious balcony with a view of Elounda bay . This hotel has wonderful staff including the amazing, very hardworking Sophia who seems to be everywhere . The Standard rooms are clean , however they are needing an upgrade . The Superior rooms have been done and are beautiful . Nothing can beat the location of this hotel, across the road , down the steps and on to the most beautiful bay .
We have just come back from a lovely stay at the Elounda Orama, we had sea view room in the third block and the view was incredible! Everyone was friendly and accommodating throughout our stay (special thank you to Stavros, Sophia and Costas!). The room was lovely, tidy and cleaned daily. The breakfast and pool bar were also great and the pool bar do a lovely Pina Colada! Only minor complaint would be that there was no wifi throughout our stay due to a fault, they were waiting for a new router which we understand was out of their control, but was a bit costly for us to use our phone data. Otherwise a great stay and would definitely come back!
The hotel is well placed for everything that Elounda has to offer. Across the road and down the steps gets you to the seafront which has many restaurants and coffee shops. On arrival, the hotel looks appealing and all the staff were friendly and efficient. However, the bar that opens onto the street was never open, which is a shame. We had a sea view room above the main entrance, which was okay but certainly not 4 star. One wardrobe door was missing and it felt a little like style over substance. The shower and toilet were in two glass cubicles, neither of which were big enough and there was a drain in the middle of the bathroom floor with a cover that kept coming off. A nice touch were the toiletries. Breakfast was very disappointing. We have better Greek yogurt here in the UK and the fruit choice was so poor we bought our own from the supermarket. Hot choices were just about adequate and the juice was coloured water! The hotel is built into the hillside so lots of steps, but we knew this when we booked. However, signage around the hotel is very poor. We had to ask a cleaner where the pool was, from reception it's 3 different lifts or copious steps. Would we stay here again?, no. There are nicer hotels around which are actually 4 star, which this one certainly isn't.
It was a very beautiful stay! All the staff were very friendly and helpful with us ! Breakfast was extremely tasty and everyday fresh same as dinner with a big variety !! Cleaning was top and the pool and pool bar area was really relaxing !
