Our stay at Domes Zeen Chania was absolutely incredible. The staff are, without a doubt, the most amazing and attentive we have experienced anywhere. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they genuinely go above and beyond to make your stay special. Their warmth, care and attention to every little detail really stood out.
The meals at the hotel were also fantastic — every meal we had was absolutely delicious and made the whole experience even better.
Our sea-view room with a private pool was simply breathtaking. Waking up to those views and having our own private pool was truly unforgettable.
An exceptional hotel made even more special by its incredible people. We would highly recommend Domes Zeen Chania and can’t wait to return!
Unfortunately, our stay was extremely disappointing. On arrival, our luggage was left in the heat, despite us specifically advising that there was a laptop in one of the bags. This was very concerning from the outset.
The hotel’s general areas were tired and not particularly pleasant. The room itself was very basic, and we could hear water being used in the bathrooms above us every time someone showered or used the facilities. It made for a very noisy and far from relaxing experience. Also had a fridge which made a loud noise. The WiFi was also not working on arrival. It took two hours to fix.
Breakfast was another disappointment. An omelette was served that was barely cooked, and there was a very limited selection overall.
Most frustrating of all was how our complaints were handled. Despite raising our concerns at the hotel, it took nearly two hours before we were able to speak to anyone. We then had to repeatedly chase the matter to make it clear that we wanted to leave, despite having already explained the situation several times.
We were originally due to stay for four nights but decided to leave after just one. Situations where guests are unhappy should be handled much more promptly and professionally, with better communication and customer care.
Sadly, based on our experience, I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel.
This was my 4th stay at this hotel and previous stays have been excellent. This one was not. Admittedly it was at the start of the season but staff were disorganised and we had to make several complaints about the same broken toilet, safe and ceiling fan to reception. Drinks from the pool bar took 25 mins to arrive even though it wasn't busy (we could hear others complaining about the same thing too). Finally reception staff messed up the collection of the bags from our room which not only meant we were late departing for our flight home bug I also had to run up the very steep lengthy road trying to carry two large suitcases by myself. This was despite checking several times that the bag collection was booked for the correct time. Staff also messed up another taxi order for a night out. Sadly, this may have been our last visit which is a shame.
We had our sixth excellent stay at Domes Zeen Chania and would highly recommend it, particularly for families looking for a stylish, relaxed luxury resort in Crete. We first discovered this hotel for a Chania destination wedding and have been back every year since.
All our stays were in rooms that were Pavilion level with a private plunge pool. The rooms are beautifully designed, comfortable and private, and having our own plunge pool made the experience especially enjoyable. The resort itself has a distinctive, understated design that blends beautifully with the Cretan landscape and creates a very relaxed atmosphere.
We chose Half Board together with Haute Living, and found the combination well worth it. Half Board made dining easy and convenient, while the Haute Living benefits added another level of comfort and service to the stay. ..overall experience feel both luxurious and effortless.
One of the things we particularly appreciated is that Domes Zeen genuinely embraces being a family destination. Families and children are made to feel welcome rather than simply accommodated. At the same time, the design, food, setting and overall atmosphere are sophisticated enough that adults can thoroughly enjoy the resort as well.
The location is also very convenient for enjoying Chania while still having the feeling of being at a resort. We found the overall experience relaxing, comfortable and very well suited to a family holiday in Crete.
The resort is beautifully integrated into its lush, landscaped surroundings, with winding pathways and numerous steps that give the property a wonderfully private, almost village-like feel. For guests who enjoy walking, the grounds themselves are a pleasure to explore and very much part of the resort’s charm.
That said, the property’s hillside layout does require a fair amount of walking and stair climbing, which is worth considering for families traveling with anyone who has limited mobility—or simply on those days when you would rather relax than tackle another set of steps. Fortunately, the resort offers a convenient golf cart service throughout the property, which we used frequently and greatly appreciated. Guests should allow extra time when requesting a cart, as waits of approximately 10–15 minutes are not unusual and can occasionally be longer during peak check-in and check-out periods. With a bit of patience and advance planning, however, the golf cart service makes navigating the grounds considerably easier and allows guests of varying mobility levels to enjoy this beautiful resort comfortably.
Overall: 5/5. We are staying again next year at Domes Zeen Chania and highly recommend it to families looking for an upscale resort experience near Chania.
A wonderful hotel set on a lush plantation defined by majestic trees rather than floral landscaping. The tranquil atmosphere is deeply relaxing, but the true highlight of our stay was last night’s full moon event. General Manager Panos was everywhere, warmly attending to guests like a true host. Congratulations to the entire hotel team for an unforgettable experience.
