I had a wonderful stay overall. The location was perfect, and the atmosphere throughout the hotel was amazing. Everyone was so kind, caring, and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The hotel was spotless, with exceptional cleanliness throughout the day, and it was such a peaceful place to relax. There were no issues with noise at all.
A special thank you to Mandrin at reception, who was absolutely fantastic. From the very first day, they made us feel so welcome and were always happy to help with anything we needed. All of the staff were friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful.
The breakfast was excellent, with everything fresh and a great variety of options to choose from. The coffee was also delicious.
We were celebrating my sister’s birthday, and the hotel made it extra special with their thoughtful gesture. Thank you so much for helping create such a memorable celebration!
The only downside was the room. It was extremely small for two people, which made it feel quite cramped. I was also disappointed with the shower, as the shower head was very small and the water pressure was weak.
Despite these issues, I still felt the hotel offered great value for money, and I would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in a fantastic location.
Very basic area. Not exclusive. Noisy neighbour apartments playing music opposite.
You can hear people walking and talking in the hotel corridor whilst in the room.
Bathroom is very badly lit. If you want to pluck a hair in your face, you won’t see it.
The bathroom has a window, but no curtain. Meaning you wake up very early from the daylight coming in. Even when you close the bathroom door which is opaque glass.
Bedsheets are supposed to look fancy, but aren’t 100% cotton. Some kind of synthetic/silk fabric which feels very cheap and isn’t for people who are allergic/sensitive.
If you want to sit in a chair in your room you have to bring in a chair from the balcony.
No suitcase rack in the room.
The “Do not disturb sign” doesn’t go over the door knob. You need to cut a bigger hole so you can actually hang it on your door.
Room numbers aren’t readable. You kind of have to guess if it’s your room or count the doors.
Spa staff sell you massages on the beach, but you don’t get offered a 15% discount, like you do when booking online.
There are no changing rooms with a shower. You have to change in the toilet.
The buffet restaurant serves Mexican, Italian etc. food. If you want to eat Greek food only a real disappointment.
One beach towel per person. So you are lying with half of your body directly on the beach chair and on a wet towel all day long.
If you want to swim in the sea, forget about it. The water, waves and wind is so strong that it’s impossible and even dangerous. The beach is about 5 meter wide and you back right to street with cars etc. passing by. Very noisy. Terrible music blasts out of speakers. Not relaxing.
Reception staff is very grumpy. Everything seems too much to them. The guest needs to do what they want. Very bossy. They are certainly not trained to a 5 star standard.
The hotel, staff and surroundings aren’t 5 star at all. Go somewhere else!!!
My daughter & I spent a fantastic week at Nema Design Hotel & Spa. It was the perfect choice for our much needed 'fly & flop' holiday. We booked the 'Essence Retreat' room which, though the room itself was on the small(ish) side, had a lovely large terrace with day beds & a fire pit. The room & bathroom were immaculately cleaned every day & the room had tea & coffee making facilities too (Nespresso coffee capsules so good quality coffee). A bottle of mineral water was left in our room each day too - a very nice touch. We made good use of the air conditioned gym which had a very good selection of weight assisted machines, treadmills, bikes and free weights up to 20kg. We booked the half board package so ate at the hotel most days. The breakfast & dinner self-serve buffets always had a wide choice of different dishes - though I have to say, there was limited option for vegetarians & only vegetables for any vegans - no vegan protein options at all. :( We didn't visit the spa but we loved around the outdoor pool with its luxurious sun loungers where you could order drinks & food which are then bought to you so you never have to leave your lounger! The absolute highlight though were the staff. EVERYONE working at the hotel were professional & friendly - they genuinely wanted to make our stay the best it could be. We would definitely return.
Booked a week at the Nema and arrived late on a Tuesday night due to flight delays. The Reception staff were great and we managed to get some food before the restaurant shut at 22:30. I would say that the staff make this hotel as they were great. Special shout out to the Bar/Restaurant staff and reception especially Amelia and George. We only booked for Room and Breakfast but breakfast was quite substantial and well laid out. The rooms are functionary with Hair drier and safe. Are only issue was the cleaner we had kept taking the towels and leaving us with less or no shower mat. so had to make a few stops at reception. Sun beds are quite good and at the time we were here we were always able to get a bed and this was after 10:00 if around the pool.
Great place to stay for couples whatever age really. Gym not too bad and they have Yoga on if you are that way inclined.
Thanks NEMA we had a great time cleaner aside :-)
Can highly recommend staying at this delightful Hotel. Great location, only half a hours drive from the airport and easy to visit cultural sites nearby. There are only 80+ rooms giving a relaxed, private experience to our weeks holiday. The standard of service from the staff was exceptional and the food (breakfast and evening meal are buffet) was truly delicious. There was so much choice, the desserts were sublime (well done to the pastry chef) and we loved the Cretan red wines. An unforgettable holiday full of wonderful memories, and one we shall never forget.
