As our incredible holiday is coming to an end, we simply couldn’t leave without writing a review.
This was our first time visiting Crete, and we are so happy that we chose Out Of The Blue for our stay. We spent 10 nights here at the beginning of September 2026. The weather was perfect - warm but not too hot, and the sea was beautifully warm and crystal clear.
The hotel is huge and has an absolutely incredible location - it sits on a private peninsula with its own private bay and beach. From almost every part of the resort you can enjoy beautiful views of the sea, the cliffs and Agia Pelagia. The whole resort is surrounded by greenery - olive trees, pomegranates, lemon trees, tamarisks, flowers and bushes everywhere, creating an amazing atmosphere and plenty of natural shade.
The grounds are huge, so you can easily spend your whole holiday exploring the resort without ever getting bored. There are different walking routes, viewpoints and little places to sit and relax. There is even a small church on the property.
There is a fantastic choice of accommodation, from standard rooms with pool, garden or sea views, to superior and family rooms, as well as beautiful luxury villas with private pools.
There are several swimming pools around the resort - the main pool, a smaller pool near the reception building, and a lovely children’s area with a pool and three small water slides.
The private beach is one of our favourite things about the hotel. It is located in its own beautiful bay surrounded by cliffs. The beach has small pebbles and wooden walkways, making it comfortable to get around. There is also a water sports centre where you can rent catamarans, boats and enjoy various other activities.
Of course, you can also walk down to the sandy public beach in Agia Pelagia, but honestly, the hotel beach is so much better.
Food-wise, there is a main buffet restaurant, a beach restaurant open for lunch, and three a la carte restaurants. The food was really good across the resort, with Greek and Cretan dishes always available, as well as a good selection of European breakfast favourites - toast, vegetables, eggs cooked in different ways, porridge, yoghurt, pastries and fresh fruit.
The salads and vegetables are fairly similar at lunch and dinner, but the soups, side dishes and main courses change every day. There are always several meat options, as well as fish and seafood.
One little tip: if you are staying for a week and can choose two of the three a la carte restaurants, book the Italian and the burger restaurant. The third one is the Greek restaurant. The food there is also very good, but you will find quite a few of the same Greek dishes in the main buffet restaurant, so we felt the other two gave a bit more variety.
During the day there are several bars around the resort - by all three pools, in the lobby and on the beach. The all-inclusive package includes a mix of local and imported drinks. There is a cocktail menu, spirits, vermouth, wine (including sparkling wine), tea, coffee and soft drinks.
I also want to mention the entertainment. It is definitely more on the soft and relaxed side, so if you are looking for loud parties and non-stop activities, you might find it a little too quiet. But for us, it was absolutely perfect because we specifically wanted a resort without loud or intrusive entertainment.
Every evening there is either a show or live music, and there is also a disco club on the resort with a bar where you can dance to popular hits. For children, there is a large kids’ club with an indoor area and an outdoor activity area inspired by the Minotaur’s maze. There is also a mini-disco in the evenings.
But what really deserves a special mention is the service at Out Of The Blue.
The staff here are genuinely some of the nicest and most attentive people we have ever met. They don’t make you feel like they are helping you because they have to or because they expect a tip - they genuinely seem to love what they do. Everyone greets you with a smile and pays attention to guests’ needs and requests.
The rooms and the entire resort are kept clean and tidy.
Our airport transfer is late in the evening, and nobody took our wristbands or beach towels away. The reception team told us that we could check out of our room and still use all the bars and restaurants until we left. They also kindly told us that we could have a shower and get changed in the spa before heading to the airport. Such a small thing, but it made a huge difference.
There is also a large shop on the resort with pretty much everything you might need — toiletries, children’s toys, sun and beach essentials and souvenirs.
The spa is also very impressive, with an indoor pool, various massages and spa treatments. For anyone who likes to stay active, there are plenty of places around the resort for running, a gym and a volleyball court.
We flew in from London, but the hotel has a very international crowd. We met lots of guests from Eastern and Central Europe, as well as some people from the US. The hotel is sold by many European tour operators with departures from different cities, so the atmosphere is very international.
For anyone looking for a brand-new, ultra-modern hotel, I should mention that there are some areas of the resort that are a little dated and haven’t been renovated recently. However, this genuinely did not affect our experience at all. Everything is clean, well maintained and looked after. And considering the price, we think the hotel offers fantastic value. When we were comparing options in the same price range, most alternatives were much smaller hotels on the second, third or even further lines from the sea, often in less convenient locations.
And then there are the hotel cats ❤️
We absolutely fell in love with them. These fluffy little residents bring so much joy and make you smile every time you see them. If you see the cats or kittens around the resort, give them some chicken or fish - they will be very happy and will reward you with a little purr 🐱
The hotel is also pet-friendly, so we met some guests who had brought their own little furry friends with them.
Another huge advantage is that the hotel is right in Agia Pelagia, so you can easily walk out and find plenty of tavernas, supermarkets, souvenir shops, bars, diving centres and car rental offices.
We have travelled to many different countries and stayed in many different hotels, but we honestly have never experienced this level of warmth, care, genuine smiles and dedication from the staff and management.
Here, it really feels like everything is done with heart and genuine care, rather than just because it is part of the job.
We are grateful to every single person who helped make our holiday so incredibly special.
I am actually finishing this review with only a few hours left before our transfer to the airport, and I have tears in my eyes because I really, really don’t want to leave this amazing place.
We will definitely be back.
Thank you, dear Out Of The Blue, for an unforgettable holiday ❤️
With love and gratitude, Anastasia & Matt #OOTB2026
The resort is not that bad if you look at whole picture but some things are totally totally ruining the experience. Beach is too small for amount of people that are guests of hotel. Room service is awful, yes they clean floors a bit, change the towels but they miss everything else. Food is terrible but fortunatelly you will eat enough every day by tasting every single meal in the search for proper meal, there are lots of different food. And then the worst experience with all the waiters in Red Pepper restaurant, the main location where all the guests are eating. They constantly interfear by collecting the plates and glasses on tables. Even if you stand up and go to get lets say glass of water they will pick up everything. They will come to ask if you are finished and they wont respect if someone is still eating. That will happen at least 4 or 5 times on every single meal. With that last stance, after few days every single person will go mad on them. They simply ruin whole experience. Please avoid, there are so many better places on this planet to spend your money and vacation. On the good side, everyone is polite and helpfull but the service is without any question the worst experience I ever had and I travelled more than 70 countries.
Perfect holiday in Crete! Don't believe the bad reviews, the hotel is excellentI spent a vacation at the Out of the Blue hotel with my daughter from August 26 to September 2 through the tour operator Čedok. The package tour, including flights and transfers, was on an All-Inclusive basis, and the value for money was absolutely fantastic. For a very reasonable price, the holiday was completely flawless. We are very experienced travelers and visit a lot of different hotels all over the world, so we have plenty to compare it with. I have never written a hotel review before, but in this case, I simply cannot help but write one. When I was choosing the hotel, I had second thoughts because of some lukewarm reviews online. Now I am incredibly glad that I didn't listen to the critics, and I want to set the record straight. It is precisely these "little things" and details described below that create truly high quality and make the stay so joyful and beautiful: Stunning room (3402): The room was simply huge! The furniture in the room was excellent. The bathroom featured both a full bathtub and a large walk-in shower, along with excellent quality shower gel and very high-quality towels.Excellent bathrobes and slippers were also provided. I was also very pleased with the very strong water pressure, which is rare in resort hotels. Room cleaning and towel replacement were done every single day, which was excellent. Grounds and unreal views: The territory is basically a huge, beautiful garden, which is very meticulously maintained. There are manicured lawns, small ponds with fish, and waterfalls everywhere. The views around are just mesmerizing. From the central square, right by the Dazzle Bar, the view is something unreal: a panorama of the pools, fountains, and the mountain with an incredible number of lights in the evening. There are many pools on the property and water slides that my daughter loved. Wonderful staff: The entire hotel staff, from the reception and bars to the groundskeepers, was extremely friendly, smiling, polite, and helpful. Beach and sea: The sea water is warm and crystal clear, like glass! The entrance into the sea is excellent. At the same time, free sunbeds could be found absolutely always, without any morning rush. On the beach, there are also two excellent lounge areas with sofas and pillows, one of which is for smoking. One day, when there were waves at the beach, we went to swim on the other side of the peninsula in a different lagoon—there were no waves there at all. Bars, great coffee machine, and snacks: There are many bars on the territory. They serve delicious ice cream on the beach. The service in the bars is of high quality: ice cream spoons and straws were in hygienic paper packaging, the drink cups were great, and special wide cups (bowls) were used for portioned ice cream. Cleanliness and hygiene are top-notch. Additionally, the coffee from the machines in the bars was—to my great surprise—simply fantastic! Restaurants and dining: The food in the main restaurant is super, and there were never any queues! The choice of dishes for lunch and dinner did not repeat throughout the week, except for the excellent gyros and pizza, which were consistently available during lunch. Half of the restaurant is located on a terrace right over the sea, and the view is breathtaking. There is a designated smoking section there, which was excellent for us. Usually, in other hotels, we couldn't eat outdoors because people were smoking everywhere. A la carte restaurants: There are several a la carte restaurants at the hotel. Since we had rather unpleasant experiences with this type of restaurant in other hotels, we only visited one here—the Italian one. And it was top-tier! The restaurant is located right over the sea, and the food quality and presentation were amazing. Later, we really regretted not trying the others, especially the Greek one, which had an absolutely breathtaking view and a great atmosphere. Evening programs: My daughter regularly attended the great children's evening program by Čedok, which was always followed by excellent evening programs organized by the hotel itself. We spent the whole day at sea, so the evening entertainment was the perfect end to our day. Hotel is wonderful, with a fantastic atmosphere and flawless service. If you are doubting because of other people's ratings—don't be afraid, just go. We were absolutely delighted and will gladly come back here again! Reference: #00TB2026
