Great location and fantastic service, but the rooms need an upgrade
We were two female friends in our mid-50s traveling together, and overall we had a very nice stay at Thalassa Beach Resort. It is a nicely sized resort with a perfect location right by the sea. A huge plus is that the hotel offers free sun loungers with parasols and beach towels – we truly appreciated that! The food was also a highlight; both restaurants served delicious, authentic Greek cuisine.
Check-in started off a bit confused as we were given the wrong room on our first night. We had originally booked a Junior Suite on two floors with sleeping facilities on both levels, but had to settle for a standard double room for the first 24 hours. However, the hotel handled it very well: from day two we were upgraded to an Executive Suite (also on two floors), and we received generous compensation in the form of red wine, sparkling wine, fruit, and a complimentary dinner. The reception staff were consistently very friendly and helpful!
That being said, the room showed its age. The bathroom in particular was very outdated and worn, with embedded dirt in a few spots that did not meet expectations. What shocked us the most, however, was how the dishes were cleaned: plates, glasses, and cutlery were manually washed by hand in the bathroom sink. This is unacceptable for a hotel in this class and significantly pulled down our overall impression.
Another major bonus was having a rental car for three days, allowing us to take full advantage of the free parking in the garage beneath the hotel.
Conclusion: A great hotel for a trip with a friend, offering delicious food, a top-tier location, and wonderful reception staff. If they upgrade the worn and outdated bathrooms and establish proper, hygienic routines for washing dishes in the rooms, this place will be superb.

A one off
Sitting on my balcony watching the selfish people putting their beach towels on the sunbeds then going back to bed or breakfast. Then watching the staff remove all towels on unoccupied beds . Brilliant just wish all hotels would follow the same practice.
A great stay in a great hotel !! With amazing staff!
Had a lovely stay at Thalassa Beach Hotel. A lovely room, not the best view but we weren’t overly bothered as we don’t spend that much time in our room. The bed was comfortable and a lovely size. Clean fresh towels and bedding every other day. Our bathroom was clean and very modern, the shower was hit or miss with the temperature. I was overwhelmed by how much choice and the quality of breakfast food there was. The staff are all great so friendly and helpful.
The beach bar was good for food and the majority of the drinks were great. A minor detail but it would be nice to have the mixer drinks in the fridge as warm G&T’s aren’t the one. Again all the staff were amazing
Evening food had plenty of choice and very tasty, it was buffet style, the only issue was the food could have been hotter. We did put this in the feedback form and a few night later it was a bit warmer. The evening staff were beyond excellent. A true asset to the hotel!
Pool and beach were fab and plenty of room for everyone.
A great stay and would definitely recommend for a lovely quiet and relaxing time.

Fantastic massage lovely small spa
Didn’t stay but visited the spa on a very rainy day . Book in advance the day before. It’s a small spa with pool , sauna and steam room and of course treatment rooms . Booked the body face massage for 55 mins . And for extra £ 12 you had 1.5 hours pre treatment to use the spa area . We had place to ourselves seems they time it all so not much cross over . The massage was fabulous and having recently been to Thailand it was on a par with that . Great quality and all in all A great way to spend a rainy day in Crete !
Amazing week!
Visited Thalassa Beach Resort for the second time (first visit in 2024). Had an absolutely fantastic time. The first night we stayed, the hotel upgraded our room to an executive suite as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. This was room 608 which was split level, could sleep four (two double beds) and as well as a bathroom had a jacuzzi bath just off the bedroom. This was a lovely and unexpected start to our week. Next day we moved to the room we’d actually booked, room 502. Great location (could virtually roll out of bed into the restaurant for breakfast) extremely comfortably appointed and with a really nice modern bathroom which looked like it had been recently upgraded. Lovely fluffy white bathroom towels and four beach towels provided. Hotel wasn’t stingy with the beach towels, ensuring that there was always two fresh beach towels in the room and replacing them regularly. Made a lovely change from other hotels where you need to leave a deposit and/or pay to change them for clean towels. Plenty of sunbeds, always able to find two together regardless of the time of day. Pool & beach both lovely, pool bar did a nice lunch and reasonably priced. Food in the main restaurant was outstanding. Both breakfast & dinner are buffet style, with dinner having a different theme each night (ie barbecue night, Greek night, local food night etc). The staff are all just brilliant - friendly, attentive, and obviously hard working. We were made to feel really welcome and always greeted with a smile. The hotel cat is also very attentive and enjoyed coming over to say hello and get a stroke. He was very smart in his bow tie and is a bit of an icon! Having been home for 24 hours am missing the place already and trying to work out when I can come back again!
