Absolutely Stunning Hotel – We Didn’t Want to Leave!
We stayed at The Syntopia for our first couples holiday together in August, and from the moment we arrived, everything felt immaculate. Check-in was smooth, with welcome drinks, and our luggage was taken straight to our room. We were also shown to our room, which was a lovely touch. We requested a room with a nice view through the Jet2 app, and it was absolutely worth putting in a request. We didn’t pay anything extra, but had a beautiful room overlooking the pool and the sea. The room was spacious and comfortable, and we were very pleased with it. The food was absolutely amazing, great quality with plenty of choice. Even in the buffet restaurant, drinks were waiter served at all times!! which we were amazed at… even for something as simple as an orange juice or iced coffee at breakfast! The pool areas were stunning, including the rooftop pool, where staff even brought drinks right to us in the water. The hotel felt more like a stylish retreat than a big resort. Only downside, securing a sunbed can be tough without an early start. However there are 3 pools! Staff came round for drink orders, even right in the pool and even when we were actually in the water! Each day after our room was cleaned, we were left a fresh full bottle of water. Overall, immaculate grounds, great service, and a memorable stay. The attention to detail in this hotel is unbeliveable, I would absolutely recommend to everyone! Would definitely return!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wonderful week in Crete
What a fab hotel!
From the minute we arrived at the syntopia we knew we were in for a great week. The staff in every part of the hotel are second to none, the level of service and attention to detail is fantastic. Everyone is so polite, they check in to see if you need a drink etc whether you are round the pool or sat in the bar/reception area.
Having been to a few all inclusives we weren’t sure what to expect from the food and drinks but the quality was amazing. There were different options for food every breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a few staple items repeating. The food was really tasty and there were plenty of choices. The staff were really helpful to one of our party with an allergy and all the food was really well labelled. The selection of drinks on the all inclusive was extensive, plenty of cocktails and soft drinks to choose from.
The room itself was lovely although could have benefitted from a bit more storage and better lighting, but the bed was comfy and the room had everything you needed including water everyday.
Unfortunately it rained most days we were there but the staff/management made sure to give everyone plenty to do, with board games, cards etc available to borrow from reception and film nights.
The pool area is lovely and the beds are super comfortable. Again the staff are on hand if you need anything and come round to ask if you need drinks at regular intervals.
The hotel is located outside of the main resort but there are shops and bars (if you need!) just a ten minute walk away and you can get a taxi into Rethymno itself if you fancy a change of scenery.
Would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone. Thank you for a fabulous stay!
Superb holiday in a beautiful smaller boutique hotel
A beautiful hotel and great staff Very relaxing and definitely a hotel worth a return trip!!! The roof pool being my favourite out of the 3 pools - a lot of thought had gone into this hotel - plants, decor etc

Lovely small hotel
I have just returned following 11 days at the Syntopia. It was exactly what was advertised. A beautifully styled room with a nice limited view of the sea. The quality of food for a small sized hotel was exemplary, the waiting staff always friendly and quick to attend to any required needs. A wonderful selection of foods and drinks available. When we arrived it was rather loud due to a DJ in the main lobby area, limited seating which was rather uncomfortable if you are seated. The evening entertainment needs an improvement, this would be where you draw money in with premium drinks but found a lot of people leaving.
The spa was amazing and reasonably priced with the staff lovely offering hairdressing, gym and massages.
My only disappointment is the €25 per hour charge for late check out, check out at 12 and to wait until 8pm it would be €200 to stay in better comfort. It’s worth venturing out on the main strip with restaurants and a karaoke bar (whether depending) on a Wednesday + Sunday.
It’s been a pleasure to stay here and would encourage others to do so, it was a little too small for my liking but thank you for your wonderful hospitality.
Great, though needs a tiny tweak
Very nice hotel with great staff, friendly and helpful. Room adequate though the shower and sink is in the room with a separate fully built in loo room. The loo room stank which wasn't nice but we just held our breath. Bed comfy and slept well. Food was very good, always buffet. The problem most people have with buffet is that every day they have a bit of everything which makes it the same, and fed up after a week. I try to have something different for my breakfasts, lunch and dinner. One day omlette, the next Greek yogurt etc. Dinner - one day pasta, one day fish with chips, one day moussaka so no boredom. This is just me though! Wine and drinks were good, and prosecco was fine. Shame the 'proper' cocktails only available after 5.30pm but was fine. We did get up early, around 7.45am to get a sunbed in the sun. The other side of the pool got no sun at all. Sun beds were great at main pool, like a four poster bed with panels you could adjust to create shade. Waited service for drinks very good, lady waitress very pleasant and chatty, admiring my daughter's sewing. We never tried the other pools. My daughter got sick on our last day and the staff were very helpful. They moved our room to the only one available - an upgrade and the room was much better - robes & slippers, coffee machine, mini bar and more space. Jet 2 also excellent - moved our flight, constant communication to check with us, very much appreciated, thank you Jody. There was a odd whiff of sewage around pool or in restaurant. Not often but not great. Staff attentive with daughter when she was feeling better, offering mountain or mint tea. Thank you to waitress who always served us in the outside area of restaurant. In the evening we drank up in the rooftop bar. Maria was lovely and always remembered our order! Two bad storm days but my daughter was sick those days so stayed in bed anyway. I stayed with her and played cards (hotel has supply of cards and games - well used on the storm days). Only thing I didn't like was plastic glasses when drinking in room. Around pool, absolutely! But to have glasses in room would have been better.
