AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Do not believe the reviews. Myself and my partner booked this as our summer getaway and to say we were disappointed was an understatement. The shower didn’t attach to the wall so we had to hold it whilst we showered, the shower curtain was too short so water went everywhere! The air conditioning was set facing the balcony and hardly worked! The bed was like the floor resulted in aching bodies every night. Very suspicious stains on walls and seat. The balcony was very old had laminate flooring over the top to hide the breaking wood. Furniture very old, chairs in bar rickety and broken - very unsafe! Someone sat and fell off the seat whilst we were there! When we arrived the toilet had a disinfected sticker on when we opened the water was brown with a odour - we found we would start to smell odours in the middle of the night even with doors closed - presumably from the room next doors bathroom. Drinks and food were 2 stars at best! Pool was dirty, flowers leaves and dirt left in the pool the whole week, plus very potent smell around the pool. Sun beds at the pool were broken with screws hanging out. Staff were kind but sparse we had to wait at reception a few times for help. Floors were scratched. Two nights of entertainment out of 7. The death elevator - very fast and jolts a lot and the door makes a lot of banging which you can hear in your room. Stated on live holidays it was a sandy beach but was quite the opposite- most shops sold sea shoes due to the stones and the coral reef you have to walk over to get into the sea. DO NOT COME!
The room is appropriate, the hotel is nice, the staff is friendly, the food is very delicious. The bus stops are in front of the hotel, this way public transport is easy. The water in the swimming pool is crystal clear and not very cold. I absolutely recommend the place. :-)
Just come back from this hotel. Had a great time. Bed was comfy with topper on. Clean towels everyday except Sunday. We had a room overlooking Road but had sea view. Was not noisy. Excellent aircon. Free WiFi. Food was so tasty not cordon blue but nice salads and plenty of meat and fish. Best thing was the pool and the pool bar so pretty and clean. Plenty of sun beds and shaded area if needed. Which we did. Staff were amazing so helpful. All in all a good very Greek all inclusive hotel. Beach shingle and not nice on feet but bars there and sun beds.
Back to the Solimar for 3 weeks, usual room and many of the "old" staff. The weather was hotter than usual for the time of year usually between 30-34c, too hot for us. This is the last year to be run by the Solimar company as a new company takes over from the end of October. To be truthful the hotel has, over the years we have been holidaying there, become very run down due to lack of investment but we have always enjoyed our time there. The talk is the new owners will take a very long lease (15yrs) and invest at least 1 million Euros. We shall keep in touch with our friends there (George, Andreana, etc), and if they remain working at the hotel under the new owners, we shall probably be back there next September (prototheos,DV).
the rooms are not nearly that size that advertiset. Standard room is max 16 squarmeters with shower room. Food is eatable but not very tasty. Beach is not as good as expected, yes above waterline sand, but in water stony, rocky and partly bedrock. Staff is nice and helpfull.
