Mitsis Messonghi Beach

First thing I will say is do not trust that friends of canvas by mitsis private Facebook page. They delete anything they think is negative and I will post the proof of that below.

We stayed 7 nights, I will start with the positives. Staff are all friendly, animation and entertainment are great and fantastic with the children. Free crepes, ice cream and desserts is a lovely touch. Pasta and pizza by beach are also nice. Pools are great, we spent most of the time in the kids pool and my daughter loved it. Not too cold, but ocean water was the best. Lovely and warm, and cool fish to look at! The little town just a walk outside the hotel has lovely restaurants and little shops which is nice. And if you walk on down the beach there’s some beachside restaurants too.

Now… I’ll start with the negatives. The room is was very basic. 3 of us staying and the extra bed for our daughter was squeezed tightly against the balcony door, barely any room to move around the room.. speaking of doors, while my husband opened the wardrobe to take clothes out the door literally fell off onto him. Then the ants started. We found about 30 ants in our room, and on the last day there was one on my toothbrush😫 My husband also got very sick…. Vomiting etc and couldn’t move from bed. The only thing he ate that we didn’t was the fish and duck. The noise in the room is something else. I understand the hotel themselves have no control over how loud other guests are, and some people are extremely noisy coming into their rooms at all hours shouting and banging thinking they’re hilarious, but the general noise in the room is mad. We could hear every single time our upstairs neighbours flushed or used their sink. The noise of it was so loud, and happened all hours of the night. They could drop a pin and it would echo through our room. So sleep wasn’t great, and the mattress sucked. My poor mums back was broke the whole time.

Overall, we had a good holiday. But mainly because of the views, the pools, the beach, the sun and purely vibes. The hotel defo needs a lot of work. Also the fight for a seat at night, considering it’s off season, sucked too. So would I recommend this hotel? No, I wouldn’t. I think my husband getting sick was the icing on the cake tbh. And I know others can argue that it wasn’t food poisoning because he wasn’t diagnosed, but we know our own bodies.

The drink situation is terrible, all drinks only available at the bar when it’s not during meal times and the ques are bad and people don’t respect the que at all! We had started taking drinks down with us after dinner like Pepsi etc to save going to the bar, as it was self service upstairs. Then one night the man at the doors in the restaurant stopped my parents and told them they cannot bring drink downstairs from the restaurant. They then sat down with the drinks and watched him let 5 other groups of people with drinks, and even desserts in hand walk downstairs. When confronted he claimed he ‘didn’t notice’… honestly it felt off, why did he single out my parents?

Lastly I wanna add to what I mentioned before about that stupid Facebook page. I posted on it months before coming and someone commented saying that they delete all negative stuff on it, next thing the comments on my post got turned off.. then when I put up a post asking about medical help for my husband who we suspect has food poisoning, my post got declined! Let’s bear in mind, I didn’t mention that he got it from the hotel and wasn’t planning to. The person who runs it is extremely biased, so please take heed of the negative reviews on here rather than that page.

Amazing experience, the people are so friendly and polite. Food is great and the sights are stunning. Activities and entertainment couldn't be better, especially the musical show at the amphetheatre. Outstanding!
