An exceptional hotel – perfect for my first solo holiday
I am just heading home after a five-night solo stay at Corfu Holiday Palace in Kanoni, and I honestly cannot praise it enough. This was my first ever solo holiday, so choosing somewhere I would feel comfortable and well looked after was incredibly important. From the moment I arrived, the hotel exceeded my expectations.
I arrived after midnight and was touched to find that a beautiful fresh salad had been thoughtfully left for me, carefully covered and waiting in my room. My standard room was phenomenally spacious, immaculately clean and extremely comfortable, with fantastic air conditioning. The cleaning staff were consistently friendly and welcoming throughout my stay.
The hotel’s location is stunning. The pool area overlooks the sea, and watching the planes arrive and depart from Corfu Airport was an unexpected highlight, it was absolutely gorgeous and added something really special to the experience.
The food deserves particular recognition. Without exaggeration, it was the best hotel food I have experienced on any holiday. The selection changed every day, the quality was exceptional, and there was an incredible variety. The salad bar alone was outstanding, and the desserts were some of the best I have ever tasted, which says a lot because I am not usually a dessert person! The waiters and waitresses were always pleasant, attentive and hardworking.
I would also like to give a special thank-you to the member of staff who sought me out on my final evening and showed me such unexpected kindness and generosity. That thoughtful gesture genuinely blessed me and was the perfect ending to an already wonderful stay. I will remember it for a long time.
Corfu Holiday Palace is an immaculate hotel in a spectacular setting, with superb food and genuinely caring staff. For my first solo holiday, I could not have chosen anywhere better. It was absolutely out of this world, and I would return without hesitation.
Very disappointing for a hotel claiming to be 5-star
Unfortunately, my stay was a very disappointing experience. For a hotel that is meant to be 5-star, the overall standard fell well short of what I would expect.
The hotel feels tired and outdated, with the décor and rooms in need of significant refurbishment. While the housekeeping team were excellent and deserve recognition for their hard work, the service from almost every other department was extremely poor.
We experienced hour-long waits for food and drinks, including at the pool bar and on the beach. There was also no beach bed service, which is particularly disappointing for a hotel presenting itself as a luxury 5-star property.
Our experience with Guest Services was especially awful. They were unhelpful and did little to resolve the issues we raised, which only added to the frustration.
The pool also appeared dirty, and the beach was never properly raked during our stay, leaving it looking untidy and poorly maintained.
Overall, the hotel has the potential to be a great property, but the level of service, maintenance and attention to detail simply does not match a 5-star standard. Apart from the excellent housekeeping team, the experience was far below what we expected and, unfortunately, not one we would want to repeat.
A very mixed experience for us. The hotel is in a beautiful location with a great beach and nice pool. The staff were also very helpful and friendly although it could sometimes take over half an hour to get a drink in the bar which was frustrating. The rooms are ok altho we booked 2 identical rooms and they were very different with one modernised and one not. The aircon was also poor, not managing to cool the room down from 28 degrees to 20 degrees during 8 hours overnight. The buffet breakfast was comprehensive altho the hot food was lukewarm at best. We had booked on a half board basis but after eating in the buffet restaurant for the first 2 nights we really weren’t impressed so decided to eat out for 4 of our remaining 5 nights and take the substantial hit on cost. And that is where my main gripe with the hotel lies. We ate lunch in the hotel virtually every day but, only on the last day did a waiter tell us that we were entitled to a €20 voucher per person to use on lunch if we chose not to eat dinner in the hotel. So, effectively, this was €320 for 4 of us that I could have put towards our lunches in the hotel but had instead charged these costs to our room. I therefore queried it with Guest Services and asked if the €320 could be deducted from our final bill? Apparently not possible - they cannot refund retrospectively. I’m not sure what was retrospective about it as I hadn’t checked out at that point and pointed this out to them. When I pressed them about this further, they miraculously agreed to refund me €116 - no idea where this figure came from but if they could refund €116, why not the full €320 that we should have been entitled to?? We should also have been advised at check in that we could swap our half board dinner for lunch instead but nothing was said. Overall, apart from the above, we had a nice week in Corfu and would recommend visiting Corfu Town which can be easily done by bus from right outside the front gate. I strongly disagree with the hotel’s 5 star rating too - 3.5 at best in my opinion.
Really beautiful hotel. The location is perfect , very close to the airport you can hear and see the planes landing and taking off but its honestly didn’t bother me at all. We actually found it entertaining watching them come into land at night from our balcony. The bus stop right outside the hotel is very convenient as you can get a bus into corfu town for a couple of euros each way. From corfu town you can travel all over the island. Corfu town is lovely for local market and souvenir shops and also for food or drinks.
We had a superior triple sea view room . The room was lovely very clean and comfortable and large in size. The bathroom was well laid out and perfectly functional with a good shower pressure.
The hotel is lovely, so clean and accommodating. All staff are friendly and welcoming/ helpful. The pool is a sea water pool with handy step down access for people with mobility issues. It’s a good size too. The hotels private beach is stunning and accessible by a little lift. The food was delicious with so many options and themed nights for dinner. Desserts are delicious. Breakfast covered every option you could possibly want. The poolside bar is handy too for drinks and lunch/ snacks portion sizes are good and prices are reasonable. There is a beach bar too. The staff wait on you at the pool/ beach which is a nice touch. The shop on floor -2 is handy for essentials but a tad pricey. You need to drink bottled water in Greece so worth buying a few bottles on arrival at the mini mart opposite the hotel. There is also an ATM and car hire opposite the hotel. My only criticism is that they don’t police the sun bed reservations which supposedly says they don’t allow people to reserve sun beds but everyone does it and it can be hard to get a sunbed at busy times. The hotel provides towels for your sunbeds from the spa which is handy as it saves the flaff of trying to get them dried. I can’t comment on the spa , à la carte restaurant , sushi bar or tennis courts as we didn’t use them. There is also a few nice bars and cafes on the same road as the hotel and a beautiful monastery. Overall I had an amazing first time experience at this beautiful hotel in Corfu, and feel that some of the other reviews on here are totally unfounded. I will be returning in a few years!!!!
We are currently staying at Corfu Holiday Palace, and I have to say that this hotel has exceeded our expectations in every way.
The hotel is super clean, peaceful and relaxing, with a beautiful private beach and a wonderful atmosphere. It is the perfect place if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday.
But what truly makes this hotel outstanding is the people. I have honestly never experienced such friendly, kind and genuinely welcoming staff in a hotel. Everyone we have met has been incredibly nice, helpful and always smiling. They really make you feel welcome and cared for, and that makes such a difference.
A special mention absolutely has to go to Antonia, who is just wonderful — so kind, attentive and genuinely lovely. She really deserves recognition for the way she makes guests feel.
And the restaurant is fantastic. There is an incredible variety of food, with a LOT of options, and the quality is genuinely excellent. We have been very impressed with both the choice and the standard of the food.
Overall, this has been a truly wonderful experience. Beautiful surroundings, cleanliness, a private beach, peace and quiet, excellent food — but above all, exceptionally friendly people who make the whole experience special.
We would absolutely come back and would happily recommend Corfu Holiday Palace to anyone looking for a relaxing stay with wonderful service. ❤️
