Corfu Holiday Palace

Hotel is beautiful and the rooms are great, free bottles of water provided daily. Lounge bar a little small and no entertainment provided, drinks a little bit pricey!! Pool area is lovely but half of it is shaded. The glass lift to private beach is amazing, there are a few loungers and little drinks bar. Water is crystal clear loads of fish swimming around. Location is stunning with views of mouse island and can watch the planes land and take off, the noise really doesnt affect you at all. Shop is only open a few hours a day but they have most things. There are bus stops right outside the hotel and most journeys were 2 euros. Hotel staff were lovely but didn't really engage much the restaurant staff were brilliant, we loved Charles!!!!!

We stayed in a double sea view room half board for 7 nights Good points Housekeeping staff are very hardworking, pleasant and helpful. Good standards of hygiene. Food was tasty, varied and good quality. The buffet seating area is bright, airy and pleasant. The staff managed the tables well. The bed was comfortable. The views over the Ionian sea are stunning and worth the extra room cost The outside area overlooking the pool has been modernised and is pleasant. Bad points Check in - after travelling for 10 hours we arrived at the hotel before 1pm. Three receptionists were dealing with guests. When the middle receptionist became free I stepped forward and said "we are here to check in" she snapped back loudly "not here, no. Left or right, not here, you pick" She aggressively flung her arms left and right. She began using the computer and ignored me. I was shocked and embarrassed to be treated like that in front of other guests. Apparently it was down to the location of passport scanners why did guests not know that! I stayed at a safe distance from reception for the rest of the week. Check in is at 3pm. Guests leave at different times but rooms are only ready at one time. Check out is 11am. If you have a late flight staying in your room a few extra hours is refused or costs 100 euros. We emailed in advance asking for a quiet room on floors 5 or 7. We got a room on floor 6 where we could lie in bed at night and instead of sleeping listen to the music in the lounge. We knew to expect aircraft noise. Other hotels we have used near airports had triple glazing and better sound insulation than this one. The last plane took off just after midnight and the first around 5.30am. The furnishings and fittings in the hotel are very dark and dated. The handle on our bathroom door was corroded and the wall button toilet flush stuck daily. When a hotel has Palace in its title and advertises itself as 5 star it's reasonable to expect the higher cost to be justified. There were thunderstorms during our stay and we spent time in the room. Despite about maybe 30% of the guests being English speaking Bloomberg was the only english channel available. We had looked forward to our first holiday in this hotel but unfortunately cannot recommend it

Fantastic hotel. We had a lovely bungalow with a small pool for the 4 units. Room was spacious with tea and coffee making facilities in a small separate area. There was also room for 2 sofas and a table.

We were half board and the food for breakfast and dinner was great. The lady who checked you into the restaurant in the evening was very abrupt and rude. When we gave our room number, she called reception to check and was not pleasant in her manner at all. This wasn't great on day 1, but everything else about the hotel was great.

It was also great to see the planes land at the airport nearby. Despite the airport being nearby, you can still sleep well as the planes seem to stop overnight and didn't seem to start until 7am
