We visited Cooks Club for a long weekend. Upon arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming. The lady on reception explained everything to us and we was in our room very quickly. The hotel grounds and vibe are beautiful. The room was lovely and clean, overall a fab look. The aircon worked amazing. It was very clean and we had everything we needed. Although would have been handy to have an iron & ironing board but otherwise all good. The bar staff by the pool are lovely and quick with serving. The drinks are very nice. It would have been nice to have service around the pool rather than having to go up. The pool area was nice and vibey with a DJ which was great. The sun loungers are very uncomfortable. They look nice but just not comfortable. We ate lunch by the pool one of the days which was nice. It was disappointing that as we was only staying for 3 nights we wasn’t allowed an Ala Carte dinner. We ate dinner in the buffet 2 nights. There wasn’t much explanation on arrival as to how it worked so we had to ask. I do love that the food comes out fresh however I do think that a classic buffet might be nice too. The food quality overall was very good and I was really impressed with the breakfast buffet. The staff at the hotel overall were very friendly and accommodating. We had massages in the spa which were stunning. Overall a lovely stay and we would go back. Perfect for an adults only trip.
Last year, we stayed at another Cooks Club hotel and had an absolutely amazing experience. The beautiful setting, incredible food and fantastic atmosphere made for a truly relaxing holiday, and we left saying it was one of the best holidays we'd ever had. Because of that experience, we decided to book another Cooks Club this year, choosing Corfu with high expectations.
Unfortunately, our stay at Cooks Club Corfu didn't live up to those expectations.
Our biggest disappointment was the food. We both found the quality to be very poor, which resulted in us eating away from the hotel far more than we'd anticipated. When we did eat at the hotel, we often opted for pizza because it felt like the safest choice. The menu was also very limited.
Although the food is advertised as being cooked fresh to order, our experience was very different. On several occasions our meals arrived within a minute of ordering through the app, suggesting they had already been prepared in advance. As a result, dishes were often lukewarm or cold. Overall, the food was nowhere near the standard we'd expect from a five-star hotel, and we left many meals unfinished simply because they weren't enjoyable. It was a complete contrast to our previous Cooks Club experience, where every meal was fresh, delicious and of an exceptionally high standard.
There were a few other aspects that didn't feel in keeping with a five-star hotel. We arrived before check-in, which we completely understood, and our luggage was taken to the luggage room. However, once our room was ready, we were asked to collect our own suitcases and take them to our room ourselves. It's only a small detail, but it's these touches that contribute to the overall guest experience.
We also felt the hotel lacked any real atmosphere. The daytime music around the main pool created a much better vibe than the evenings, where the entertainment consisted mainly of slow, downbeat music. Most nights we found ourselves heading to bed by 10 or 11pm because there simply wasn't much going on. To be honest, we were bored, and we overheard several other guests saying the same thing.
One of the things we loved most about our previous Cooks Club stay was the atmosphere. There was live music, the social dining tables created a real sense of community, and we met lots of people and made new friends. It genuinely felt like part of the holiday experience. Sadly, we didn't experience anything similar at Corfu.
The sunbeds also looked stylish, but the rope design made them surprisingly uncomfortable to lie on for any length of time.
Finally, we were disappointed by the lack of drinking water stations. As far as we could tell, there was only one water fountain in the restaurant. On one occasion we ended up having to buy bottled water because there was nowhere convenient to refill our bottles, and two bottles cost around €10 despite us being on the all-inclusive package. That didn't feel like great value or a particularly guest-friendly approach.
I do, however, want to mention Phoebe, who was absolutely wonderful throughout our stay.
We wanted to provide this feedback because we know how good the Cooks Club experience can be. Our previous stay left us excited to return to the brand, but unfortunately Corfu didn't deliver the same quality, atmosphere or overall experience. If we're honest, it's made us hesitant about booking another Cooks Club in the future.
I'm sharing this feedback because I hope it's taken constructively. We genuinely wanted to love this holiday, and it's disappointing to have had two such different experiences under the same brand. We sincerely hope you'll take these comments on board, as we'd love to be able to consider Cooks Club again in the future.
We booked this hotel as our last adults only holiday for a while as expecting a baby later in the year. We had heard good things about this hotel online and it sounded perfect for the type of holiday we wanted. Unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. The main reason for this was the food. Breakfast was fine, freshly cooked buffet food and plenty of it, only issue was the orange juice often ran out by 10am and breakfast finished at 11. We didn’t eat lunch in the cantina so can’t comment on this but lunch by the pool, although changed every day mainly consisted of fried unhealthy food and everything came with chips. The salads were often quite nice but the Greek salad was usually warm and didn’t taste like it had just come out of a fridge. You didn’t have to wait long for your food but there are only so many burgers and chips you can eat in a week which you wouldn’t even do at home! Dinner was the biggest disappointment of all, not having a buffet is something we have experienced in all inclusive hotels before which is fine but the menu choice was limited (despite most of it changed daily) and the food quality was poor. It was delivered to the table quite quickly which makes you question how fresh it is and it was either bland or just not very nice. A couple of meals were average but we did leave some meals barely touched which is not something I like to do. We ended up eating out for 3 nights out of 7 just to get a decent meal. The staff were also a bit too quick to remove plates from the table, sometimes when barely finished or not finished eating.
We tried the al a carte restaurant which did serve nicer food and provided a better service. We had the smoke grill restaurant booked but unfortunately our reservation got cancelled due to the weather (not the hotels fault) so don’t know what the food was like here.
The bar staff day and night worked tirelessly and the choice of drinks was quite vast. I particularly liked that they made all cocktails non-alcoholic too which makes not being able to drink more enjoyable! The only issue was the bar in the cantina, it was either not open, not staffed or stocked appropriately. One evening they had run out of wine glasses and my husband was told to go to the lobby bar to get one so he was able to enjoy a drink with dinner! This is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel to ask this of a guest.
Both pools were great, especially the chill out pool. The sun loungers were quite uncomfortable however and not being able to get a towel before 10am or after 5pm was frustrating at times as didn’t match the pools opening times. We didn’t use the spa so can’t comment on this. The little shop on site was quite nice and reasonably priced. Location of the hotel was good, within a 10min walk you are in the local town of Gouvia which was quite nice and there was a bus stop outside takes you to the old town which is worth a visit. The rooms were fine and beds comfortable. The staff were friendly, although it did take 3 requests to fix the tv in our room (wouldn’t normally watch tv on holiday but it was the World Cup) also the evening entertainment was pretty boring so other than going to the local town we just went to our room earlier than perhaps we would have liked.
I really think this hotel needs to improve the food (just lunch and dinner) as noticed we weren’t alone in our findings based on what we saw and other reviews on here.
Sadly we won’t be returning here or recommending it based on this and makes me nervous about trying other cooks club hotels in the future.
Just spent a week here, our second visit and definitely won’t be our last. Very chilled vibe and the food is amazing. Nothing much around the hotel but it’s a short bus ride into the old town with bus stop right outside hotel. Rooms are kept lovely and clean and the beds are very comfortable. Thanks cooks club for an amazing holiday and no doubt we will see you again soon
First of all, in general very little information about the operation of the hotel. We can pass 10x in front of the reception, not a hello and this remark applies to almost the entire hotel. In the main restaurant, only the Asian staff is smiling, kind and helpful and seems happy to work. The others work in slow motion by dragging their feet. For a 5-star hotel, the dress code regarding shoes is catastrophic, it would be necessary to harmonise the shoes and not the sneakers. In addition, the air conditioning is much too strong in the restaurant as well as in the hotel. Regarding food, it is sometimes very limited (ex: when you take a gyros hoping to eat local you have 3 pieces of gyros and the rest is just bread and raw vegetables). In addition, it is an adult hotel but the DJ is uninteresting a playlist would have the same effect. It is a quiet hotel but with an average 30-40-year-old clientele but you have the impression of being in a guest house. There is a significant lack of activity. The deckchairs are very pretty in the context of the hotel but not comfortable, for a 5 star cushions are recommended.
The toilets of the outdoor pool are cleaned at 8am and 9am then nothing for hours...
However, the cleaning of the room is perfect, the setting of the hotel is pretty. This lack of life and desire to work in the hotel is felt very strongly. I prefer to talk to you about it directly for the good of the hotel rather than putting an opinion on the Internet. Lack of Greek culinary specialty
In Italy with pasta and pizza except that it's bad
