Potamaki Beach Hotel

We recently stayed at Potamaki Beach Hotel and while there were some positives, unfortunately our experience was let down by several issues. The location is excellent with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, Benitses port just a short walk away, and a bus stop conveniently right outside the hotel. Plus the gorgeous view from the beach right out front. We only sat on the beach of an evening so cannot comment further regarding during the day. The bar drinks were nice and reasonably priced, and the rooms were cleaned to an amazing standard every day.

However, there appears to be a lack of communication between staff. On arrival, we were told by reception that we could change rooms the following morning to have a double bed instead of 2 single beds as one would be available as per our booking request. The next day, a different receptionist informed us this was no longer possible as there were no rooms available. The same happened when we asked about a courtesy room before departure — we were told to come back in the morning as one should be available, only to then be told there were none. If the hotel already knew availability was unlikely, it would have been better to be honest rather than raising our expectations.

The breakfast was very disappointing, with very little variety and cereal was stale. We only tried it once and chose to buy breakfast elsewhere for the rest of our stay. The pool area was decent but nothing special, and the entertainment was very basic. The rooms are very dated, particularly the bathrooms — our bathroom flooded every time we had a shower, the sink felt like it was coming away from the wall, and the shower head would not stay attached to the rail.

Some of the reception staff were lovely and friendly, but unfortunately many of the other staff members came across as unwelcoming. Overall, the hotel has a great location and a few positives, but it is in need of updating and improved communication between staff to provide a better guest experience. I personally would not return to Potamaki Beach Hotel, or recommend this hotel to family or friends.

Location is good just across the road from the beach and close to restaurants and shops, but the hotel rooms are in dire need of refurbishment, paid extra for a balcony room , half an hour of sun early morning, then nothing rest of the day. Small children takinng over the adults pool complete with blow up toys and screaming their heads off. Sunbeds reserved with towels the minute the pool opened, and extremely uncomfortable if lucky enough to get one. Queue for coffee in the morning, greasy cold food. Abysmal entertainment and had to reserve seats in the bar area. Ended up changing my flight home and booking in elsewhere so I didn't come home more stressed than before I went.
