Absolutely terrible such a rip off male u spend so much money for transport and the hotel food is terrible and the receptionist lady was lying and making me and my family spend so much money and saying that we are lying . I would not come back here again

This hotel will never win 4 stars, but it’s a decent place. The interior is showing its age but is clean and maintained. It’s quite a popular place as the location and price makes it very convenient

We booked a room at Sunset Hotel Corfu for the period from 9 to 11 October 2026.

I first contacted the hotel when it became apparent that our flight would be delayed. I informed the hotel of the situation, and you replied promptly, assuring us that everything would be fine and that you would be expecting us. Although the communication was not particularly professional, I did not attach much importance to this at the time.

Upon arriving at the accommodation, the hotel looked attractive and well-maintained from the outside. However, our impression changed considerably as soon as we entered the lobby. The furnishings and furniture were outdated, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the old socialist era.

We reached our room on the second floor using a lift that appeared to be in poor condition and rather rickety. What we found upon entering the room was particularly disappointing, even though we are experienced travellers who have stayed at numerous accommodation establishments.

The furniture in the room was equally outdated. I acknowledge that the furniture shown in the photographs on Booking.com was indeed the same type of furniture. However, its actual condition was extremely worn: numerous items were chipped, scuffed, scratched and visibly damaged.

The green bedspread had an unpleasant, foul smell. The pillowcase appeared dirty and worn, which I consider completely unacceptable at any accommodation establishment. Part of the decorative ceiling moulding had come loose, and there were also signs of possible mould in the surrounding area. I am attaching a photograph documenting this.

I have lived in student accommodation in the past, yet even there I encountered furniture in better condition and a more acceptable level of cleanliness. The condition of the room was therefore particularly disappointing. I would also like to point out that, although it did not particularly bother us, the area underneath the bed was also in an unsatisfactory condition. Guests who are sensitive to dust and dirt could find it especially unpleasant if they were to look under the bed.

Condition of the bathroom: The most serious problems, however, were found in the bathroom. There were so many issues that I would like to describe them in detail, proceeding from the bottom upwards.

The floor and wall tiles were worn in several places, and some areas appeared to be damaged or incomplete. At first glance, the tiles themselves looked dirty, although it later became apparent that this was partly due to their worn and discoloured appearance. The grout between the tiles, however, was visibly dirty and stained.

There was visible mould growth and limescale build-up in the gap between the shower tray and the tiles. A noticeable gap ran between the two surfaces, allowing dirt and moisture to accumulate.

The outside of the shower enclosure was covered in extensive limescale deposits, which are clearly visible in the attached photographs. The build-up where the shower door meets the shower tray was so severe that it gave the impression that the two components were almost being held together by the limescale itself.

The edge of the shower tray was cracked, and substantial mould growth was visible in the gap between the door and the tray. The entire surface of the rubber magnetic seal that joins the shower doors was covered in black discolouration, suggesting mould growth. I am also attaching photographs that clearly document this.

Black deposits were visible around the showerhead's water outlets. Significant mould growth was also present around the upper roller mechanism of the shower enclosure. Furthermore, the wall above the shower enclosure was extensively covered in black, mould-like growth, as can clearly be seen in the attached photograph.

Taken together, these issues created an extremely poor impression. These were not isolated, minor cosmetic defects, but visible contamination, limescale deposits and suspected mould in several areas of the bathroom. The condition raised serious hygiene concerns and is unacceptable to me at an accommodation establishment that charges guests for their stay.

Electrical equipment and the condition of the air conditioning unit: The wall behind the electrical socket in the bathroom was severely damaged. Because of this damage, we did not dare to use the socket, as the condition of the wall raised concerns about the possibility of moisture reaching the electrical installation. The damaged wall is clearly visible in the attached photograph.

The hairdryer next to the socket was melted, broken and cracked. I find it outrageous that an electrical appliance in such a condition was still being provided for guests to use instead of being replaced in a timely manner. This is not merely a cosmetic issue; it also raises concerns about the appliance's safe operation.

When I shone my phone's light into the ventilation opening above the hairdryer, I noticed a thick layer of black deposits inside. Although I had not originally intended to inspect the equipment, the conditions we had encountered by that point made me curious about the state of the ventilation system as well.

The air conditioning unit in the room was the only piece of equipment that initially appeared to be in satisfactory condition. However, as I regularly clean my own air conditioner at home, I decided to check this unit too. I found a considerable amount of dirt, dust, hair and deposits suggestive of mould between the air conditioner's fins. This was particularly concerning because the unit circulates the air in the room while operating.

In light of all these findings, I am deeply disappointed that we were given a room in such a condition. Most of the problems listed above could have been noticed with the naked eye, without any special inspection. It is therefore difficult to understand how the room was considered suitable for guests in this state.

Breakfast selection: We also have serious concerns regarding breakfast, as the actual selection fell significantly short of what was presented in the photographs on Booking.com.

For example, photograph No. 26 on Booking.com shows a variety of fresh fruit, whereas the only fruit we encountered at breakfast was canned peaches. We also saw none of the hot dishes served in chafing dishes, as shown in the photographs.

I understand that October is already part of the low season and that hotel occupancy may be lower during this period. I also accept that the selection may vary to some extent depending on the time of year. However, this does not mean that guests should be denied breakfast services that they could reasonably expect based on the hotel's published photographs.

Based on the photographs on Booking.com, we expected a considerably more varied breakfast. The actual selection was disappointing in comparison, and we felt that there was a significant discrepancy between how the accommodation was presented and the service actually provided.

The range of bakery products was also more limited than we had expected from the photographs. Most of the pastries appeared to be pre-baked products, and the overall selection seemed considerably more modest than the one advertised.

For personal reasons, I did not use my phone in the breakfast area, so unfortunately I did not take photographs of the actual selection. Nevertheless, the photographs published on Booking.com remain a reasonable basis for comparison.

Conclusion: Overall, we are extremely disappointed with our experience at Sunset Hotel Corfu. The condition of the room, the extensive mould growth and limescale deposits in the bathroom, the damaged and worn furnishings, the melted hairdryer and the contamination found inside the air conditioning unit collectively represented a standard that I consider unacceptable for a three-star hotel.

Most of these problems were not hidden or difficult-to-detect defects. They were conditions that could have been identified through a thorough visual inspection before the room was handed over to guests. I therefore find it particularly unacceptable that the hotel provided a room in this condition.

We also found a significant discrepancy between the breakfast selection actually provided and the offering presented on Booking.com. Although I understand that the low season can affect the services available, I still consider the difference between the advertised and actual selection misleading and disappointing.
