Saint George Palace

We had quite a mixed experience at this hotel. Unfortunately the first impression at reception was not the best. The blonde lady working the morning shift was rather cold and rude towards us, and whenever we asked for information, she often seemed uninterested and as thought we were bothering her. The food was another major disappointment. We are not particularly demanding when it comes to food but most dishes were bland, and the menu lacked variety or anything memorable. Another unusual issue was the water in our shower, which tasted noticeably salty. On the positive side, Marianna who worked at reception in the afternoon,was absolutely wonderful. She has a special way of making everything feel easy and pleasant, and we are genuinely grateful for all her help and care. She helped us when we accidentally got locked out of our room, assisted us with the air conditioning settings, and was always there when we needed something. Our room was also exceptionally clean through our stay, and we were very happy with the housekeeping . The hotel itself could definitely benefit from a thorough renovation, as some areas feel quite dated. However the live music evenings were lovely, and the surrounding area is beautiful.

FAWLTY TOWER'S ON ANOTHER LEVEL!!! Where do I start. Stayed here from the 20th to the 27th of July 2026. It was an appalling stay. First day there, after travelling for 2 hours on a sweaty and hot coach, I wanted a hot shower. Got to my room and there was no hot water. Tried to phone reception but the phone did not work. Told the manager in person and was assured it would be fixed in the morning. This saga went on for 3 days. Each time I reported it, the day manager was getting more rude and abrupt. Not the way you treat your patrons!!! Finally on the third day it was fixed. Then while having a refreshing (not) hot salty shower, the shower head sprung off and flooded the bathroom. Reported it to reception, the same manager as before, before I even got there she saw me and sighed and muttered some words to herself. She said somone would fix it and told me not to put it on full power. The rooms are outdated and bathrooms faulty. Toilet seat moves and the toilet is not even bolted to the floor. One of the light switches came off in my hand!!! Rooms are clean and the cleaners lovely. However towels and sheets are changed every three days. Not what I expect from a "4" star hotel. Secondly the food, we paid over £1200 each for a supposedly 4 start all inclusive stay. The food was stale, warm at best and inedible. It lacked variety and was the same most nights. Hot drinks machines worked 2 out of 7 days. When staff were approached about this they all seemed clueless. A "hot" water dispenser was provided but was salty and luke warm. My family went out for dinner 3 of the 7 nights due to the blandness of the so called food. If you must stay at this hotel, I would recommend self catering and spend your hard earned money at the many local hospitable tavernas. The booking site specified toasties and a variety of snacks at the pool bar and tea and cake hour. This is a blatant lie!! The "snacks" consisted of dry, un buttered sandwiches with a thin slice of tasteless meat. Cocktails, beer and fruit juices were tasteless and watered down. However Oresto (the pool barman) is a legend and is hands down the best barman and staff member. Very chatty and happy all the time. The pool was dirty, had vegetation at the bottom and I never saw anyone clean or maintain it. The sunbeds were uncomfortable and poorly maintained. Most if not all had screws and bolts missing, extremely unsafe. The location which the hotel sits is lush, idilic and peaceful. The rolling hills and mountains took my mind off my stay at this god awful hotel. The beach is a short walk from the hotel and easily the best bit of my stay. Amenities along the beach are well stocked and fairly priced. Shops and tavernas are plentiful. There is a lovely shop down the road from the hotel which is run by a local family. Again it is fairly priced and well stocked. The husband, wife and their small children are very welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. WiFi at the hotel is described as available in public areas but is spotty at best. It is the 21st century, you would expect a 4 star hotel to have wifi in every room. To sum up, I wish I never stayed here. Not worthy of 4 stars maybe 2 at a push. Not worth the money we paid. There is a beautiful 2 star hotel down on the beach called the Alkyon. Much nicer and more accommodating. Whenever we fancied lunch on the beach would pay for toasties at their pool bar. Do not stay here!! Avoid it at all costs!!
