Pure paradise – worth every penny! We have visited Grecotel Costa Botanica several times now, and each year it somehow gets even better. This hotel is truly worth every penny, and our whole family absolutely loves it here. It feels like pure paradise. The food is outstanding – beautiful, fresh, healthy, and full of variety. Every meal feels like it has been prepared with real care and quality ingredients. What makes the experience even more special is the incredible staff. They work unbelievably hard and are always so polite, friendly, and helpful. Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble. A special mention has to go to Alexandra at the pool restaurant. She makes the most amazing crepes and ice cream, and we looked forward to visiting her every day. Sometimes she is working on her own, cooking, serving, and managing everything at once, yet she is always smiling, kind, and welcoming. Even when she is rushed off her feet, she never stops helping guests. What really touched us was that she remembered our son and said, “He always has the chocolate.” That small gesture meant so much to us and shows how genuinely attentive and caring she is. Another wonderful member of staff is Georgia. Every year we visit, she makes us feel incredibly special. She remembered our son’s name, gave us a truly 5-star wine tasting experience, and was so accommodating with our son being there too. She made him the “boss” of the table, gave him extra cheese and breadsticks, and made him feel included and important. She is absolutely fantastic and a real credit to the hotel. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained, and the atmosphere is so relaxing. The combination of exceptional food, outstanding service, and the warmth of the staff is what keeps bringing us back.
The indoor gym is outstanding with modern equipment and cleaning staff working hard to maintain prestigious environment. Georgia was very helpful and knowledgeable about some of my fitness goals and helped me.
The spa is sensational too. I received two fantastic treatments from Ari who was very educated about the benefits and after care. A pure indulgence and well deserved. I’d highly recommend as the spa itself has a stunning indoor pool and sauna, ice bath and is pure beauty.
The beach is very clean and all staff are up early dawn maintaining its beauty.
The management clearly look after their staff well as when we were here there was a ceremony for best employee of which they had a dinner which again was very important to see how staff are valued in such a wonderful place as it is the staff who make this place, they really do work hard.
The only thing I have a slight niggle about is the outdoor gym does needs new floor and updated spin bikes, but it is clear that from last year money in the budget has been spent on more bigger projects. For example, under seating areas for more shading, cleaning rooms daily, more entertainment, wider variety of seating areas at the pools.
Our son Loves the aqua park and all staff were brilliant with him and made a real effort to always ask how he was doing every day and kept him safe!
Thank you to everyone at Grecotel Costa Botanica for another unforgettable holiday. We cannot wait to return next year! Alice, Dave and Austin
We had a brilliant stay here and would absolutely recommend it, particularly for families.
One of the biggest highlights for us was the food. There was a really good choice of restaurants, including Greek, Italian, Asian and fine dining, as well as the main buffet. We also found out from other guests that you could book two independent restaurants further down the coast through reception, with the hotel covering the cost. This wasn’t something we knew about initially, but reception were more than happy to arrange it for us and both restaurants were excellent. It meant the buffet never reached that Groundhog Day stage you can sometimes get on an all-inclusive holiday!
The cocktails were also genuinely excellent and much better than the standard all-inclusive offerings we’ve had elsewhere.
The staff were amazing throughout our stay. Everyone seemed genuinely proud to work there and they went above and beyond for us. The whole resort also had a really nice atmosphere and a lovely mix of guests, which made the holiday feel very relaxed.
There was loads for the children to do. We hadn’t even realised before arriving that there was a little mini zoo on site. There was also a good choice of pools without everything being spread miles apart, and the water slides were perfect for our children, aged 13 and 10.
Another huge positive was the complete lack of sunbed stress. We normally arrived at the pool at around 10:30am and could still choose where we wanted to base ourselves, with beds and umbrellas available. No ridiculous 6am towel race!
The beach was lovely too, with shallow, clear water, a beach bar serving drinks and snacks throughout the day, and water sports available to hire if you wanted them. You can take your own inflatables and there gift shop were happy to meet you use the pump to blow the up.
The sunsets were absolutely beautiful. Go to the beach bar from dinner too see it. It was around 9pm for us.
Acharavi town is nearby and had exactly the right amount of everything for us: bars, tourist/tat shops and some genuinely nice shops to wander around.
Mosquitoes are mentioned a lot in the TripAdvisor reviews and yes, they are there. However, for us they were more annoying than disastrous. We all had some bites but they didn’t really affect our sleep and none became badly swollen or infected. The hotel provides mosquito spray around the outdoor bar areas in the evening and plug-ins in the rooms. The resort is surrounded by lush greenery and waterways, so realistically mosquitoes are part of the environment.
The transfer to and from the airport was also surprisingly enjoyable because the route across Corfu is so scenic. It took about 90 mins With other stops.
We didn’t do any organised trips or tours because we were perfectly happy staying around the resort, but there seemed to be plenty available if you wanted them.
Overall, this was a fantastic family holiday. Great food, excellent drinks, genuinely lovely staff, plenty for the children, a beautiful beach and amazing sunsets. We’d happily return.
We stayed at Grecotel Olympia last year and the food was better there. The rooms at this one were just as tired as at Olympia. Every possible corner has been cut on maintenance. The landscaping is a bit odd and sparse. The two table football machines in the main square are properly knackered and slanted. The pools were nice enough but wildly crowded with not nearly enough sun beds. The water park is infested with hornets so don’t let children run barefoot. The worst of it all were the clearly unwell horses. They had no point except to amuse guests. We tried again because Olympia came close but this one is a hard no.
We absolutely love this hotel! We are on our last day of a two week holiday here and we are so sad to be leaving! This is our 4th year coming here and it has been perfect for our family holiday each time. The food is wonderful with a great buffet restaurants as well as the a la cartes and lunch time pool snacks. Our children absolutely love it here and it always feels so safe. The staff are so so friendly with special mentions for Fotini and Anthee who work in the bar in the main square who are just so lovely. Everyone always wants to help make our holiday special and relaxing. We hope to be back again next year!
This is a genuine non bias review! My kids are older at 18 and 13. We are fortunate to have traveled to most Greek islands and stayed in some really good accommodation. We are currently staying in room 341 and 343. I can not praise Costa Botanica enough - we have had the most relaxing holiday I can remember. The concept is what makes it stand out - it basically replicates a beautiful Greek village with some great restaurants, but importantly created an environment where you don’t ever feel the need to leave the resort ! I have no idea where the speed of drinks complaints come from - if you wait for table service it can be up to 5 mins. If you go the bar yourself it’s immediate - the teams that run the bars are incredible, I’ve never seen anyone work so hard. The gym is really well stocked and high end. The pools are lovely - but you don’t get so much breeze so a little warm for us!! The beach is spotless and gorgeous - only a few pebbles on the shoreline. Room 343 especially was superb. Food was of good quality - Asian and Fine dining stood out. Cocktails are all top shelf - including Hennessy which is rare at all inclusive. In this ultra luxury - no, it’s not designed to be, but it is family luxury and even at over £10k I feel I’ve had fantastic value for money. Top tip - grab the cabanas !! No one seems to use them and they are perfectly place for just about everything and give shade when the weather gets a little too warm. Also if you are going to walk to the lagoon - go down the beach, not gravel tracks - horrific experience 😂😂
