Sofianna Resort and Spa

We had the most wonderful holiday at the Sofianna.

I must confess I can be quite fussy, but I found the hotel to be perfect! The staff were very friendly, the hotel was clean and the food was good.

I saw lots of reviews about it being a great place for families and was wary I may have picked the wrong hotel for us. However, as there are two pools AND a kids splash park there was ample space to relax without being surrounded by lots of kids. As such, I could recommend this place to couples too! (Whether this would be different in the summer holidays, I’m not sure).

We had the most wonderful days by the pool and were well served at the bar by the wonderful Alina. She came to know our order and we had lovely chats with her every time. Several of the reviews on here say the staff are unfriendly and don’t smile? I never found this to be the case, everyone I spoke to was lovely. We were also lucky enough to have the lovely Tilak as our lifeguard by the pool. Again, enjoyed chats with him and the way he not only life guarded the pool but kept clearing our empty glasses and keeping the pool looking lovely. These two members of staff really made our holiday.

On one of the days, the spa manager Angela was out by the pool offering short free massages. We got chatting with her too, and decided to book in at the spa. There are so many reviews on here mentioned the spa I thought it must have been a promotion or a discount if you leave a nice review, but honestly? The spa was as good as people say! My fiancé and I had a couples massage done by Rafael and Costas. One of the best massages I have ever had, followed by the aloe Vera treatment. I cannot recommend this enough!

As for drinks, the all inclusive options are made with cheap alcohol, but is to be expected and was fine. All I would do to improve it is add pink gin (personal preference!) and more sugar free options for those with health conditions, for instance, I have diabetes. If you can handle lots of fruit juice and sugar, I would say there are plenty of options as per other all inclusives around the world.

As for the food, we only ate lunch at the hotel using the buffet. The food was good, and similar to what you get elsewhere. I cannot comment on breakfast as we skipped it, the same with dinner as we prefer to support local restaurants and see a bit of where we are staying.

What I can say though, is that the snack bar is amazing! The food is so good and th serve yourself ice cream is such a treat (even as adults!)

Overall, I would say this hotel is as good as people say it is, and I would definitely return - next year in fact!
