We had a lovely stay at the Sofianna Resort & Spa in Paphos. The hotel is in a great location, everywhere was very clean, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, with a good choice available throughout our stay.
Our room was comfortable but looked a little tired and would benefit from refurbishment. The only other downside was the usual sun-lounger problem. Some guests reserved beds as early as 7am and then went out until 2pm, leaving them unused for most of the day. It would be helpful if the hotel managed this more closely.
Overall, the positives far outweighed the negatives, and we enjoyed our stay.
We cannot complement The Sofianna enough as a family. The food is fantastic, a new theme every night. Food is high quality, fresh and plentiful. The chefs are also on hand to advise with any allergies. The staff at the hotel are friendly and welcoming, even if you arrive in the middle of the night like we did. The hotel is beautifully clean and the rooms are spacious and have everything that you need. The snack bar is well stocked and food is tasty and the two pool areas are clean with plenty of sun beds. Even the gardens are beautifully kept. The hotel is a five minute short stroll to the harbour and there is a gated car park to the rear if you have a hire car. Everything is thought of and the staff work to a high standard to ensure that all guests are happy and relaxed. We can’t wait to go back!
Calm, clean, relaxing and spacious spa. Had body scrub and massage by professional Sabinka and left the spa a new lady. Truly relaxed and ready to enjoy the rest of my holidays. Thank you - worth every euro!
I had a full body massage at the SPA and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Sabinka, the therapist was professional, attentive, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the session. They focused on areas of tension while maintaining the perfect amount of pressure, leaving me feeling deeply relaxed and refreshed. The environment was clean, peaceful, and welcoming, with soothing music and a calming atmosphere that enhanced the overall experience. By the end of the massage, my muscles felt noticeably less tense, and I left feeling rejuvenated both physically and mentally.
I highly recommend this service to anyone looking to relieve stress, ease muscle tension, or simply enjoy a relaxing self-care experience. I would definitely return for another session. Thank you, Sabinka.
We arrived in the early hours and check-in was smooth. We were kindly offered some packed sandwiches but we declined as were keen to get straight to bed.
Due to our size of party, we were allocated two rooms. One was in the main building and the other was in the swim-up room area. (3014)
The rooms were spotless and had everything you could need. A walk-in shower of ample size with bath sheets for towels. A mini-bar fridge (with one bottle of water). All the electrics in the room were powered by a switch plate. The air conditioner was powerful yet quiet.
The beds were comfy and clean. White, crisp bedding and multiple pillows. There were complimentary toiletries in the rooms as well as a free safe. Tea/coffee facilities included. There is a drying rack on the deck which was useful.
We used our deck when at the pool with two additional loungers across the way. Even though there were plenty, you had to be up early to ‘reserve’ these. Beach towels are included and can be replaced every 2 days.
We like that the pool allowed inflatables for our children and equally were impressed that the room had a map of our pool showing us where the cut-off switch was should these be an emergency. Brilliant!
Our swim-up room was fabulous. It was very hot whilst we were there and it was great to simply slip into the pool. The water was clean and warm. However, our swimwear has gone yellow. We always use the same cream and we have never experienced before. We left two swimsuits behind because of this.
We used the free children’s club a couple of times. The staff were lovely and the room was well set-up with a creative range of activities. However, on the first time of using the club, admittedly I had read the time wrong for collecting , for which I did apologise. However, instead of contacting our room (she was signed in and we put our location) she was allowed to leave by herself! I found her screaming in the corridor and crying as she didn’t know where we were. This was absolutely unacceptable. When I questioned the staff, one (a male) shrugged and said ‘she is 8’. As a member of a safeguarding team in my career, this is not ok.
The following time she went, I was asked to sign a form to say she could not leave by herself. I’m unsure if this was because of what had happened or whether it had been missed when we initially took her. I was more than happy to sign this. Safety and reassurance is key and this must be a learning point moving forward.
The mini discos were lovely and varied which was great! They were well-attended and the staff led the disco well. They also offered a movie night on some evenings after the disco. Again- this was welcome and enjoyed by the children. Thank you.
The food at the hotel was variable. Breakfast was the best as there was a range of foods, including fruit, omelette station, cereal (including gluten free) and a fresh orange juice station. There was always fresh bread such as rolls and baguettes.
Lunch and dinner were not as strong, we felt. The salads were always on offer and a range. However, some of the meats were very chewy. Each night there would be fresh soup which was often nice and a range of desserts. The evenings are themed. There wasn’t a great deal of choice, we felt and as it was mostly on one side of the dining room, people queued like a canteen. There is a burger restaurant (only open 2 days) and we managed to get a booking in there which was delicious. The other restaurant was at a cost to all inclusive guests so we decided to give this a miss.
Restaurant staff are super friendly. They work hard and remember your drink orders and what you like in your omelette! They’re attentive and keen to help. They also clear tables quickly and without fuss.
The entertainment needs revision, we felt. Most nights bingo was offered. The prizes were generous but it was 5euro a ticket making this 25euro each time for our party of 5. We declined. Making the game 1 euro and smaller prizes would be more fun and engage more guests, we felt. A couple of singers sang and whilst they tried their best, not many people were listening.
The stage and staff work hard but a little more variety would be great.
We didn’t visit the two other main pools due to our room being a swim-up but lots of lovely activities on offer such as water polo etc if you want it.
Drinks were ok. Some branded drinks (Pepsi) but others local, as to be expected. Some nice cocktails included and mocktails for children which went down well. There are also slushies and milkshakes for those who want them.
The aesthetics of the hotel are superb. It’s clear that no expense has been spared in terms of layout, furniture, design and general ambiance. It’s a very slick place and is super clean. It boasts a stylish vibe throughout.,Location-wise, it’s fairly central to lots of places including some ruins, the harbour and a mall. It’s not particularly near any other hotels though and has two entrances which confused us when we arrived.
The hotel itself has a lot to offer but to match its look, the food and entertainment need some tweaks. However, still a very pleasant stay. Thank you.
