Paphos Gardens Holiday Resort

Good location not many hills. Lots of coffee shops nearby. Close to the harbour. Room spacious and comfortable with a couple of tv channels. Staff some not the friendliest . Food was moderate. Gym good but often ran out of water. Easy to get a bus, stop very close. Plenty of sun beds.

Reasonably priced and would stay there again.

It just gets better and better every time we go back to Paphos Gardens and as we get to know the staff and managers (Yanis Michael and Costas in particular) who are so welcoming and cant do enough for you whether it is the waiting staff or the pool and bar staff or the animations team Laura and Resvan.

We had a great 10 days at Paphos gardens in a lovely well equiped appartment in May/June 26 that when we got home to the UK we wanted to go back so much that we booked again to go 3 weeks later for another 14 days. We asked for the same 1 bed appartment and we got an even better located appartment near the smaller pool.

Apart from the wonderful staff what else is great about Paphos Gardens. The facilities in the appartment are excellent. All the equipment you need in the kitchen if you want to cook a meal or just make toast, from a great fridge freezer and cooker to a microwave kettle and toaster. What we know from experience is that any appliance that may be faulty or broken is replaced immediately. The bedroom has really comfy beds, side tables and lamps and plenty of hanging space. You pay for the safe if you want it.

The lounge has a basic TV on top of a chest of drawers Several channels a table and 4 chairs with cushions and a sofa bed. Some people take a UK firestick. The WiFi is free and available in the appartments. It was fantastic in our first appartment but only OK in our second one as it didnt work in the bedroom. The first had a router in the appartment the second didnt but it wasnt a big issue for us.

The air conditioning we had in both appartments was truly spectacular and so good that we often had to turn it off for periods. A couple of years ago we had a faulty one and they even replaced that with a new one during our stay. Both rooms had a terrace with 4 basic chairs and a table but great for an eveing drink or for drying towels etc. The bathroom has a bath with shower which for us was great as we have a bit of arthritis and like a soak. We dont like the wet rooms you get in a lot of hotels these days. We went self catering this time but there is an option to upgrade to half board or AI or just pay for a drinks package or a meal. All at great prices. The food is good and ranges from salads and traditional cypriot starters or soup through a choice of about 4 main dishes, and also pizza, fresh pasta, and fresh cooked veg and say chicken or pork and a hot roast of the day. Sweets of cake, greek dishes or ice cream. The pools are great and their are plenty of sunbeds to go round normally. On the odd occasion people did struggle between about 11am and 3pm if they came late. Best to take your own towels as pool towels are not provided.

During the day we had 2 really good staff doing the usual excercise, aqua aerobic classes and boule darts table tennis etc.

Evening entertainment was basic but fine, often singing, cypriot dancers, with a game of bingo or Kareoke thrown in.

Of note is the british people in particular who go are really friendly and chatty at all times.

Over the years since we were married in Paphos 10 years ago we have been to about 5 different hotels all ranging from 3 to 5 star but Paphos Gardens has become our go to hotel now. Yes it is in areas it is a bit basic and dated with no frills but it is very very clean very spacious all throu out the place and in the appartments and they are equipped with everyting you need. There is even a laundry room with washing drying and ironing facilities and a small shop nearby which is pretty random in its appearence and stock but has most things you will need if you are self catering.

There are 4 top 40 Trip advisor restaurants within 5 minutes walk. The beach is less than 10 minutes away. There is a nearby bus stop, chemist, laundry, bars and cafes. Its about 20-30 min walk to the Harbour depending on your speed and its pretty flat in the main.

So as I said its is our go to place now and we love it, we are both in our 60s.

Please do not be disheartened by the negative reviews on this site, for this hotel. It is fantastic. We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist at a very late hour and he made sure that we were fed and hydrated despite the arrival time. Our room was basic but spotlessly clean and had everything that you require for a comfortable stay.

The grounds are beautiful and well tended, the two pools are big and there are plenty of sunbeds to go around (there were twelve of us in our party and not once were we fighting for space or sunbeds around the pool). Maria at the pool bar is forever smiling and chatty and she is a credit to the hotel.

The food is what you would expect for an all-inclusive but it was plentiful and the choice was extensive - breakfast is very good and there is plenty of table seating. There is a different themed menu every night and there was always something delicious to choose from. The drinks are also very good.

So the hotel gets no complaints from me.

The location is also very good - there are a lot of restaurants within 5 minute walking distance, I particularly recommend the Namaste Indian restaurant, we ate there twice.

Fifteen minutes then into the harbour where there are all the restaurants, shops, bars and street performers that you can shake a stick at, and the atmosphere down there in the evening is fantastic. We particularly enjoyed Steve's bar (excellent cocktails) and Theo's restaurant where we had a spectacular meal - the fish and steaks in particular were excellent.

Would recommend a boat trip day out - we booked directly with "Venus" - The captain was a hoot and made sure we had the best day.

So all in all a 10/10 experience for me, if I were to have one niggle it is that the beaches were a bit patchy, small and rocky - but we got two buses to Coral bay (took about 30 minutes - the bus network puts the UK to shame) which was beautiful, 10 euros for two sunbeds and a parasol for as long as you want it.
