Olympic Lagoon Resort Paphos

We’ve just returned from a stay at the Olympic Lagoon Resort, where we were attending our friends’ wedding.

The hotel itself is lovely. It’s not too big, which we liked, and everywhere is spotlessly clean. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

A special shoutout to Sonja in the piano bar, who very kindly offered to alter my daughter’s bridesmaid dress. Such a lovely lady, and we really appreciated her going out of her way to help us.

I also wanted to mention Daniel in the Teenz Club, who was absolutely brilliant with our son. He took the time to engage with him and made him feel really welcome, which meant a lot to us.

And finally, Rajesh, who cleaned our room every day. It was always immaculate when we returned, so a big thank you to him too.

The food was good, there was plenty of choice, and it was nice to have branded drinks included in the all-inclusive package.

My only real criticism of the hotel is the value for money. We paid a considerable amount to stay here, and having stayed in several hotels in Turkey, I do feel you get a lot more for your money there.

For example, the all-inclusive drinks service stops at 11:30pm, after which you have to pay for alcoholic drinks. Given the price of staying at this hotel, I think that’s a little unreasonable. There’s also no waiter service around the pool, which is something we’ve enjoyed at other resorts at a similar, or even lower, price point.

These things certainly didn’t ruin our holiday, and we had a lovely time, but they are the little extras that can make a difference to the overall experience, particularly when you’re paying premium prices.

Overall, it’s a beautiful, well-maintained hotel with genuinely lovely staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but I do think the hotel could offer a little more to justify its price tag.

Lovely welcome on arrival, cold towel but no welcome drink. Which was totally fine as it was very busy when we arrived. We were told we could go to the bar and have a drink since AI had finished for the day at 11.30. Our room was very spacious for a family room. It was an end corner so it had the two single beds in a separate room. The morning of our first day we woke up and the shower had a bad smell, like a sewage smell. I went down and told Guest Services. They said they would send up maintenance. Maintenance came and the next time we were in our room it smelt so much better. This lasted 5 days and on day 5 the smell came back. Went back and told them. They had maintance clean out the drain but the smell was still there. The reception staff were very helpful and showed us a deluxe double and another family room. The double room had the same smell on the shower so we took the family room for the night. They said they would show us another one the next morning. Had to pack up and move for the night. The metal divider on the floor was sticking up and was worried cut my son's feet during the night, maintance came and taped it down. The next morning we flushed the toilet and it was broken. We were later told to come at 12.15 to see another family room. We went to see it and it was better. We moved there. For the inconvenience we got a late check out which was nice of the staff. The room we ended up with had an amazing view. We did have an issue with the control panel nearest the door but maintance came and fixed the wiring. I would say for the price we paid the rooms should be finished to a higher standard. The rooms are what led me to give it 4/5. The staff in the hotel are all so lovely and kind and so smiley. Shout out to Antonis at the buffet restaurant he was so nice to our son. Dewy in the buffet was lovely. The diner staff were so friendly with my son. The bar staff were very efficient. Was always asked what we wanted within a couple of minutes of sitting down. Having allocated sunbeds was a game changer. What a great idea. The pool area was kept clean and tidy. 2 times in 10 days the pool was closed due to soiling. We also witnessed another incident with a small child but the lifeguards didn't shut down the pool. We only went to Captains Deck and the food was non. I've had better greek food in Scotland. While we were there a young couple walked out due to the length of time they waited for their starter. Overall the hotel and our holiday was very good, I just don't know if I would come back to this hotel due to the rooms or try somewhere else.
