Mayfair Hotel

Lovely clean hotel. Very friendly staff and brilliant for the kids.

This hotel is advertised as a 4 star hotel however in our opinion this is a 3 star hotel. We were disappointed with our room, it did not meet a 4 star standard, it’s 3. The view from our room was of a work site, so we did not sit out on the balcony. There was no where to hang beach towels. The hotel is part of Mayfair Hotel and Gardens. The guests staying at Mayfair Gardens use the same amenities as the guests at Mayfair Hotel. The buffet is limited there’s not a lot to choose from. The drinks were of low quality. We tried using an app to get the bus but this didn’t work for us at the time. We used a taxi service from the hotel. It was great getting in the taxi however we recommend you have alternative options for returning to the hotel as when we rang up there were no taxis available. We checked out of our room at 12pm and could use the amenities the rest of the day, this hotel does not have private rooms / courtesy rooms to shower once you check out. We used the showers that are next to the swimming pools toilets. These shower rooms do not look like they have been updated since the hotel was built. They were dirty and had no where to put your luggage/ clothes. No hair dryer is provided. The floor was soaking so couldn’t place anything on the floor. There was a plastic where we were able to put a small bag and there rest of our things we had to put on the baby changer. We enjoyed the Flying Pig Restaurant but this was not part of the all inclusive package. The food and drinks here were excellent but you had to pay. We received a voucher from the hotel and received a discount for the flying pig. We recommend it. We enjoyed dinner at the Mediterranean Restaurant which you can book once. The food here was delicious. Although we were disappointed with this hotel, the staff are awesome. Very friendly, helpful and professional. They work very hard. There is laundry room near the swimming pool. It’s 4 euros to use the washing machine and another 4 euros to use the drier. There is only one iron for the entire hotel. This is in the laundry room too but it did not work during our stay.

The resort is large, but the separation between the Gardens and the Hotel sections is disappointing. It doesn't really feel like the Hotel section offers better facilities, so it's unclear what you're actually paying extra for. I didn't see the Gardens rooms, but the maintenance of the Hotel rooms definitely doesn't match a 4-star standard.

The rooms aren't really cleaned. Housekeeping just makes the beds, leaves the same bed linens on, doesn't replace the towels, and the overall cleaning is minimal. There's only one soap dispenser for hands, body, and hair, with no conditioner or any other toiletries. It's all very basic. The bathroom drainage was also terrible. The water drained very slowly, causing it to pool in the shower, which was quite unpleasant. The maintenance guy came to fix it twice, but it didn't help, so we eventually gave up reporting it.

The staff are friendly, but the level of customer service is far below what you'd expect. The attitude is basically, "It is what it is."

We were especially disappointed when our daughter lost a hat that she absolutely loves. We went to the reception desk to ask where the lost and found was, and the receptionist looked at us as if we had asked something completely ridiculous. She simply said they don't have one. When she realized it was "just a hat," her attitude was basically, "Are you serious?" There was no willingness to help or even show a little empathy. It left us with the feeling that once something goes wrong, you're on your own.

The food in the main restaurant is quite good and offers a nice variety. However, the all-inclusive drinks were a huge disappointment. Almost everything is loaded with sugar, the coffee is not good, and the ice cream was so bad that even our kids didn't want to eat it. The worst part was the drinking water from the dispensers. If you try to avoid the sugary soft drinks, you're left with water that tasted so unpleasant that, as an adult, I simply couldn't drink it. The desserts and drinks also become repetitive after just a couple of days.

The water slides look quite old, but my child enjoyed them, so that was a positive.

The evening entertainment is repetitive. There isn't really an entertainment team. There's one woman who gets the kids dancing for two or three songs, then there's a bingo game that costs extra to participate in. After that, I'm not sure what happens because it was already late for the kids, so we went to bed. Those two activities were the same every evening.

The kids' club was also disappointing and not very inviting. The kids didn't even want to try it out and the lady inside didn't seem to care.

Soundproofing is a mixed experience. The walls and doors are not well insulated, and you can hear everything happening in the hallway very clearly, which made it difficult for the kids to sleep. However, the soundproof windows were quite effective at reducing outside noise. Our room was facing the street, and there was construction going on in the building across from the hotel. We definitely noticed it when the window was open, so we couldn't really enjoy having the window open, but with the window closed, the noise was significantly reduced.

Finally, the hotel's location is disappointing. It's in the middle of a residential neighborhood that looks quite run-down, which wasn't the atmosphere we expected.
