Familiar hotspot!!

Paphos has always been one of our favourite holiday destinations Especially Kefalos Beach This being our 5th visit! Check in went smoothly and we were shown to our room Unfortunately it was a little underwhelming we’ve previously stayed in better apartments on previous occasions The bathroom was tight especially for my husband who has a 46”chest & shoulders to match ! The view partially overlooked the building work opposite As we knew the layout of kefalos we made the best of it We stayed on a B & B basis which soon became repetitive There’s so much could be offered as an alternative ie pain au choc ,cinnamon whirls ,waffles, doughnuts, muffins a little more flare Salads even mixed leaves, red onion would be great occasionally To keep guests keen on a daily basis Rooms were cleaned daily along with fresh towels All staff were friendly and polite A welcome bonus was a familiar face Rico who has been with kefalos a number of years & still doing a good job with his fire show . Also the lady in the shop remembered us ! On the whole we had a very relaxing holiday! The surrounding area has numerous restaurants and shops along with the kings mall and added bonus 👍 Cyprus is a beautiful place with the most stunning weather and climate Hopefully we will return if only for location weather and a bit of nostalgia However kefalos needs to improve in certain areas as mentioned I’ll be sure to email ahead of room request next time!!

TripAdvisor Review
Potentially great holiday ruined by truly awful all inclusive food menu.

Okay so there are a couple of redeeming items that I'll get into later, but it doesn't really change my overall opinion that this was the worst all inclusive holiday package I've ever been on.

The reason why is because of the frankly atrocious food. Everything on offer is the cheapest of the cheap for both food and drink. I know, you should expect that to a certain extent with all inclusive, cost savings keep resorts running. But it wouldn't be so bad if the choice of dishes wasn't so baffling, and the selection so small.

One day, the choices of main course was a teriyaki chicken (that looked like a reheated chicken stew) beef stroganoff (that truly smelled a step above dog food) a rice dish that had been pulled out of a 1970s catering recipe book, pork mince stew, a fettuccine dish - which I tried, and to my disgust it tasted like old canned ratatouille vegetables that had been stirred into pasta so over cooked was basically paste. Bearing in mind that it's been 30 degrees all day, the last thing I want to eat is a pork mince stew. Or beef stroganoff! There was obviously a significant amount of food wastage, which is understandable because the quality was so low, but so frustrating.

The salad options were pathetic, like I said, everything is done at the least cost possible. Virtually nothing is fresh.

Desserts are the same every day and comprise of the cheapest sponge cakes I've ever seen. The main courses change every day, but seem to recycle dishes from the previous night's recipes to reduce on waste I guess. Everything seemed to be cooked in one catering oven, so it had to be able to be cooked in those big metal catering trays. Hence a prevalence of stews, minced meat, and pork dishes. There seemed to be a lot of pork dishes for some reason. There was supposedly a roast meat option every day, but every day of the week I was there it seemed to be the same joint of roast pork. No thanks.

Breakfast and lunch are just as bad, the options are minimal and repetitive, the coffee is again the cheapest of the cheap.

You might think reading this review that I have unreasonable standards, but I've been on a few all inclusives, ones by TUI, such as MagicLife Fuertaventura, so I think I have a fairly reasonable standard and expectations of what you should get and what you won't get on an all inclusive holiday. I have to presented with pretty abysmal food to actually make me this angry. I have given it a go tried to make the best of it, but it's just awful. It's made me feel like a fool for paying this amount of money for this awful awful food.

So, what makes it all the more a disappointment is that the service, the staff, the pool, the location, could all make this an absolute gem of a holiday location. But the food is that bad that it's just overshadowed all of this.

The entertainment at the bar has been laughably bad too, with an embarrassingly awful singer, a couple of particularly dull bingo evenings, you got the impression they were trying to deter people rather than entice people out to the bar area to save on the cost of the all inclusive drinks.

The rooms were okay. Very basic, and normally you'd expect that when you ask for a double room with a pull out bed for your child, it would not be comprised of two single beds pushed together, and a double sofa bed. The double sofa bed was particularly uncomfortable for two people, My daughter was not happy sleeping on that, so myself and my partner ended up sleeping separately so my daughter could sleep on one of the more comfortable single beds. Not ideal at all really, and I think I'm a bit of a fool for not complaining about it when I was there.

Overall it was a relaxing and fun holiday in Cyprus, the first time to explore the island, ruined by the food and a poor suite. Overall we paid just under £3200 for 7 days for 2 adults 1 child (with a free child place), and I really feel short changed by the whole experience. Tui used to be the first name I would think of when looking at package holidays, but not any more.

A fantastic family stay!

We've loved our ten days here on all-inclusive. The staff are friendly, cleaners thorough & entertainment staff brilliant too. We were even surprised by fruit and bubbly for our 20th anniversary.

The pool is plenty spacious & there was always room for us. Deep in one half & more shallow in the other. A surprise though was the indoor pool. Often locked up, but on a few occasions we had it to ourselves. Perfect when needing a cooler couple of hours. Inflatables and balls were allowed & the kids had great fun. I also loved snorkeling in the sea across from the place. Saw loads of exotic fish there.

We didn't really make use of the daytime activities, but loved the evening shows and bingo! Rico stole the show, though all of the entertainment crew were fab.

Cocktails were a real highlight & the best we've had on AI. The beer was lovely, but a Pina Coladas or frozen margaritas would regularly hit the spot. My daughter loved the alcohol free Shirly Temples too. Loads of choice, all made fresh & we loved them.

Food was decent. Evening meals were varied & while there wasn't tonnes of choice, there was always something tasty available. Desserts were the only real let down. Cakes, jelly, ice cream & fruit became a bit too repetitive. Food available at the bar was varied enough and though not amazing, it filled the need. Breakfast were a little repetitive but if you like a cooked brekkie you'll be happy. We liked that it was table service for drinks at the restaurant and bar, though you could order at the bar also.

For sunbeds, we chose not to get involved in the early morning scraps. While a day by the pool would've been nice, we never struggled to find enough sunbeds and it's true that there is a nice cool breeze on the grass areas.

We made use of the courtesy room today in view of our late departure time & that was very useful.

All in all a fantastic stay and we will definitely consider returning.

P.s. we would very highly recommend Jimmy's Jeeps for a day out & we loved the Kings restaurant at the harbour too.

Wedding venue vs Family Hotel??

This hotel needs to consider its offer because it has a mixed identity

We stayed on a 14 night all inclusive, and we have had an amazing time but on reflection, my stay at this hotel wasn't exactly what I expected.

Firstly, weddings are prioritised over all other guests.

All inclusive guests who spend a lot to stay here are regularly pushed aside to make way for weddings including being unable to enjoy a drink on the balcony and really loud music you can hear in your room on an evening disrupting a peaceful holiday. (Not able to sleep yet as i can hear it clearly as i write this review!)

Multiple occasions the only hotel bar where you can get a drink in a glass was closed for weddings, as was the balcony to have a drink on. We were only offered the pool bar where you can only get plastic cups before 7pm so had to go out and spend money to have a nice experience despite us already having a drinks package at the hotel!

Drinks are tasty but limited to the usual beer wine and house spirits and some limited cocktails. If you want anything special expect to have to pay. This stretches to ice cream and day snacks, again very limited to tubbed ice creams which get dripped in by wet people straight from the pool. There is limited free choice, you have to pay for ice lollies and crisps. It is not the type of place to tell your 8 year old "eat what you want you're on holiday"

At first I enjoyed the smaller restaurant with more limited choice to what we were used to, however, by day 5 I was starting to get a bit bored. Although themed nights offered some variety, it was only the eastern and Italian nights which offered any real variety. Most days was rice, fish in a sauce, a slow cooked stew and grilled meat. Desserts need to be re-thought, the only offering is 4 or 5 cakes with Jelly or Ice Cream. No chocolate fountains, no sweets, no warm desserts etc. Personally I would like to see them swap the vast refrigerated salad section with the small desserts station and offer more choice. (We are on holiday after all and taking a break from our healthy salads at home which mostly seemed to be untouched)

Entertainment team are extremely hard working and do really well with what appears to be limited resource. Again, I ask, is this a wedding venue or a family hotel? If it is the latter give them resources and more staff to keep people entertained all week round and offer different daily activities. The day there was a pool party was a great hour of fun and there needs to be more of it.

I am 50/50 on the sun loungers. I hated myself for getting a bed before 7.30am but if you don't do it you don't get one. However, I think this approach is a lot safer than asking people to wait by a rope and people stampeding to get one. Both have benefits and faults.

The pool atmosphere can go either way. We had days where it was great and fun for our families but other days where large groups treated it like their own villa taking little care for anybody else. Lifeguards did little except blow to stop people climbing on the bridge but ignored fighting/wrestling by the pool, jumping on small children and ball games which caused a constant nuisance.

However, lifeguards were quick to shut the pool at 6pm and get home no matter how many people were in there.

Along with the limited variety of food and drink options, when the pool got too much, we had to leave and pay money elsewhere which you shouldn't need to do on an all inclusive.

Overall, this hotel is ok but the limited all inclusive, lack of pool management and weddings meaning that our holiday felt like all our needs weren't being catered to.

We did have a nice timr but be prepared to spend money in other restaurants due to the limited all inclusive and needing a break from large groups!
