The hotel staff were excellent and made the stay very enjoyable, however the hotel did have a few issues, one of the two main lifts kept breaking down, at least three times during our stay, the main poo, was cloudy for the first week, bur repairs were carried out and water quality was back to normal, there were a few loose tiles on the pool perimeter that we reported but not addressed during our stay.. Overall the staff and food was excellent and would recommend staying at the Athena Royal Beach Hotel
We are part way into an eleven night stay at this wonderful hotel. As repeaters(I believe that’s what we’re called), there’s not much that we haven’t written already praising the staff and management who ensure your stay is as enjoyable as it can be.
The entertainment, especially in the evenings has been given an uplift, and there’s something to cater for most tastes, ranging from musical soirées and dancing to magic shows and film shows. Over our past eleven visits the hotel continues to maintain the standards that have kept us and others (who we recognise from previous years) returning. Food and drink is still excellent quality and there’s something to suit everyone. It’s also worth mentioning that outdoor wooden furniture, such as sunbeds and tables have been treated to a fresh coat of varnish. As ever, we’d thoroughly recommend a stay here, and are already planning on returning next year.
There is however an unfortunate standard that is dropping, and that is the class and behaviour of some of the guests, which sadly the hotel have no control over. Other years we have had to endure inflatables in the pools, a practice that has now been stopped. Now unfortunately there are an element that consider it to be acceptable behaviour to launch themselves into the pools by diving (despite markings around the poolsides and boards forbidding this), and taking a run up and bombing into the water. I am neither puritanical, or a saint, but if there’s someone that is not a confident swimmer, or is very nervous in the pool, then this could become a recipe for disaster, baring in mind that the pools are 1.3 meters (little over 4 feet deep). This behaviour isn’t confined to a specific age group either, we noticed both younger guests and those old enough to know better. By all means have fun, but not at the cost of safety. The pool areas do not have active lifeguards, and never have had, but it’s sad to see that some can’t be trusted to behave responsibly.
Excellent hotel. From the moment we arrived we was greeted with friendly staff, checking in was excellent with a glass of champagne to welcome us . Our room was really nice and a bottle of wine and fruit left for us. All the staff in this hotel are extremely friendly and professional .They do everything in their power to make your holiday memorable, we were celebrating our golden wedding anniversary and my birthday, we were treated amazingly , balloons and golden wedding card on our door and the same for my birthday. Champagne on ice and fruit again left in the room for us. The pools and beach are beautiful and sun beds galore no need to rush to get one. The food in the buffet restaurant and al a carte restaurants are amazing, there’s something for all diets and tastes. Cypriot night once a week outside around the pool is brilliant, we have been going abroad since 1978 and stayed in many hotels of 2,3,4,5 stars but never stayed in one as good as this one. Beds change every day towels change twice a day hotel spotless everywhere. The manager and all his staff do a tremendous job so take my advice and book this hotel with confidence that you’ll enjoy every minute you’re there, we did and it’s the first time we didn’t want to go home. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making our holiday special and we’re certainly be coming back again.
Wonderful hotel with great staff. Food and drink Fantastic. Really enjoy BBQ, entertainment has improved.. Be back again next year
Just returned from a 10 day visit to this hotel and our experience was extremely positive. We normally have apartment/ villa holidays but decided to sample an all inclusive break to celebrate an anniversary. We were not disappointed. The hotel and grounds were excellent, having walked along the seafront pavement to and from Paphos we made the right choice. Maybe a couple of hotels may have looked more glamorous but all the sun-beds looked regimented, whereas there was a charm to those at this hotel. Our room on the 4th floor was very clean and comfortable, the cleaning staff were diligent in their duties and always had a smile and a warm greeting. The food was excellent and we both enjoyed the hospitality offered. We had one disappointing meal, the pizzas ordered were tasteless and seemed like frozen pizzas bought from a supermarket. We dined at the Aphrodite restaurant five times and had fantastic food every-time. Where this hotel excels is the quality and friendliness of the staff, especially those in the restaurants. They greeted us with smiles and warmth, and made us feel like their only guests……a great skill to have. We wanted a relaxing stay and we got one. I saw another reviewer complaining that there was not any piped music around the pool, for me that was a very big plus, if you want music provide your own. Some of the entertainment was not for us, but a lot of people seemed to enjoy it.There were plenty of places within the hotel to find a peaceful place to have a drink. There were a lot of people we spoke with who were returning guests and that speaks volumes for the place. This is not the fanciest hotel I have stayed in, but what makes this place special is the staff and their attentiveness to making sure you have a great stay. We would like to mention a couple of members of staff who made our stay special, they are Sanshila and Tamta. Their smiles whenever we met them always made us happier
