Constantinou Bros Asimina Suites

Asimina Suites is 40 minute walk from Paphos town but there are at least 10 restaurants/taverna's within 10 minutes walk if you wish to eat out. The bus stop is 50 metres from the hotel and runs every 20-25 minutes and cost 3 euro. Personally, I found that whilst the hotel is a little out of town, it did mean it was much quieter away from the noisy motorbikes & boy racers that seem to spend a lot of time trying to break the sound barrier around Paphos. We had a one bedroom suite with side view of the sea, though I would have preferred a full sea view, the side view was more affordable and a perfect size for a couple. The hotel had a relaxed atmosphere and any issues that we had were addressed quickly and I had the impression that the reception staff would genuinely try to sort out any queries you had and would not fob you off with some excuse just to get rid of you, as happens at a lot of hotels. I believe the hotel had been recently refurbed which probably explained why it was impossible to find any damage or dirty corners in the room or anywhere else in the hotel for that matter. We found all the staff were very attentive, the extensive breakfast buffet was a wonderful way to start the day with tea & Coffee served as and when you wanted it. I note elsewhere from a reviewer that they complained their bathroom floor was not cleaned for three days. I can only comment on our experience over 12 days and our cleaning staff were polite, professional and persistent and would return to clean the room if it was not convenient for them to enter the first time they came. A special mention must be made for George (see suited man in photo), this ever smiling genial manager appeared to be omnipresent as he would be handing out the smoothies around the pool at 12.00 pm, glad handing guests during meals and checking everyone was ok during the entertainment in the bars at night. You could not help but smile when George wished you good morning and asked if you were enjoying your stay. He stands out but that is not to diminish the demeanour and attitude of all the staff who I consider 'exceeded our expectations.'

We very much needed a chill out break after an arduous few months of running a small business during difficult trading conditions, so we did not make the best use of the facilities - tennis court, Spa, table tennis, Yoga, aqua aerobics etc Annoyingly, we did not 'find' the indoor pool & jacuzzi until the penultimate day but if we return, especially out of season, I would make a beeline for it.

Value for money - We had stayed at another 5 star hotel two years previous in Pissouri and had tried to rebook in there first however, they did not have the exact booking available that we wanted and it worked out about £900 more than Asimina. I consider it was good value for money for the standard of hotel and would certainly consider returning.

We had been considering this vacation for a couple of years. We eventually booked a Suite with pool for early October. Flying from Northern Ireland meant a late arrival- around 2300hrs. We were met and checked-in very efficiently. Of course, at this hour, there was no food available: however, we did not need as we were tired!. When we arrived to the suite, we were provided with a complementary plate of fruit, water and a bottle of wine: nice touch! I then requested the sofa bed be made-up- which was done in quick-shape time- really great.

On our first day- we requested the mini-bar be emptied of all the alcohol as we wanted to use this as a 'fridge' for out stay to store fresh milk and white wine ( purchased at the local supermarket!). Again, this was all so efficient and done very quickly indeed. Overall service was efficient and professional.

We had booked Half Board:

Estia - Buffet-style food for breakfast/lunch and dinner. The service was fast and efficient -we always like to dine outdoors , when on vacation. Mostly this was possible ( weather-permitting). 'Silver- Service' type set-up. Buffet was satisfactory- we ate here for Breakfast every morning and most nights ( with the exception of two at the Kymata restaurant). Choice wide-ranging. Carvery choice extremely limited and not particularly inspiring.

Kymata- We ate here two nights and multiple lunchtimes. This is the a la carte option , by the seafront and very picturesque. This needed to be booked at reception as, on The App, there was no facility to pre-book- somewhat dated system as one had to be at reception prior to 0900hrs to secure a spot. Menu- 'steak-orientated'. Delicious food. We had various starters- asparagus/scallops/shrimp etc. all immaculately presented. Side-veg- rather overcooked ( root veg. which did not vary on both nights we dined).

A La Carte ( beside Estia)- We did not dine here.

Lunches: No Booking required. We dined casually at Kymata most days- solid, casual menu and able to share one plate as portions were excellent and sizeable! Nice little pool bar also- all food comes from Kymata. Again efficient and able to share plates. Decent array of choices- toasties/gyros/salads/burgers.

Suite and Cleanliness Without doubt, the standout was the standard of cleanliness, availability of towels ( changed 3 times per day) , abundance of pool towels. Simona is the star of the show! Magnificent outlook and sunsets! We will be back- Thank You !

Lovely hotel with really great staff. Firstly suites were spacious. We overlooked the pool/sea and had beautiful sunsets every night. Big bathrooms with great showers. Bed we found too hard and pillows uncomfortable. Pool area /garden area no problem getting sunbeds at any time. They have a policy of no sunbeds reservations but it wasn’t enforced and we saw the pool man reserving beds for some guests early! Loved the 12 o’clock smoothies! Breakfast was good with lots of choice. They had an egg station which worked well. We walked up the harbour a few times a gentle 40/45 minutes by the beach each way. We used the gym daily, they have a good range of equipment but could be upgraded. Dinner is buffet style plus two à la carte restaurants. It’s a race at 9am to book them on the hotel app for the following evening. We were successful once for the inside à la carte but surprised there were only 6 tables occupied. We also managed to book kymata a few times, this had about 19 tables occupied each time. If you tried to book at 9.05am you were unlucky. There must be a better and fairer system to book these restaurants. The food in the Kymata restaurant was excellent and it had a lovely ambiance. The buffet restaurant had lots of choice but we are not fans of buffets and didn’t think the quality was five star. We had a late check out and although we weren’t able to keep our room we were given a different room to use until we left at 6pm. Impressed this was complementary.
