Aliathon Resort

We spent a week here as a family of four (5 year old and 8 year old) at the beginning of September and had the best time. We have already booked to return next year due to severe holiday blues!! We had an Ionian swim-up room which was 100% worth the extra cost. All staff members were friendly and helpful, the room and other facilities were clean, food was amazing and varied and there was always plenty of activities for the kids. Would highly recommend and we can’t wait to return next year.

We just got back from visiting here as a family of 7 (5 adults and 2 children - a 2 year old and 10 month old) The positives; The hotel grounds itself are beautiful. The hotel doesn’t give you hotel vibes and does feel more like a mini town with the style of the rooms and the gardens are well kept. The pool is cleaned daily and was always clean, although the tiles surrounding the pool were slippery when wet. The cleanliness of the hotel was brilliant, especially around food areas and the rooms were always cleaned nicely. Staff at mealtimes were friendly and helpful, always cleaning the table promptly and were friendly with the little ones. Some of the entertainment team were brilliant and engaging with the kids, as well as adults. We did archery and football darts and the young guy who did it (think his name was Adam but can’t remember) was brilliant. The team dancing round the pool were also great and engaging with the kids. They really put effort into making sure everyone was having fun. The pool is brilliant. It’s massive and has a gradual slope, so little ones can play in the shallow end. The splash park was brilliant for the kids with plenty of slides and fountains etc.

The negatives; The food and drink. The drinks were actually quite poor. Most of the cocktails tasted the same, despite being completely different cocktails. There were self serve beers, wines and soft drinks.. but the plastics they were served in were awful. I understand for the daytime by the pool, but in the evenings and at dinner being able to drink a beer or wine out of glass would have been nicer. It was literally plastic or paper cups for every drink. In terms of the food, it wasn’t awful. But it certainly wasn’t great. Sometimes the food was cold. The best meal was actually breakfast, which although was mostly the same every day it was definitely the nicest. The themed nights didn’t make much sense, as they literally would have one or two items relating to that cuisine. The best night was Asian, as this seemed to have the most effort for Asian inspired dishes (sushi, fried rice and some sweet and sour/Asian pork dishes). The “kids” food had little variety consisting of chips, nuggets, pizza, plain pasta and bolognese. With a small bowl of some veg sticks/cucumber slices. This was pretty much the same every lunchtime and dinner. The snack bar was the same every day, serving pizza, nuggets, chips and some salads/pasta and sandwiches as well as some desserts. These weren’t awful, but it was the same daily more or less.

The entertainment was a bit lacking I found.. before we booked, we checked the holiday villages app and it seemed there was loads of entertainment. When we got there, it was a different story. Sometimes the entertainment on the app didn’t seem to happen. The entertainment on the board was out of date, so it was a bit confusing as to what was happening when. Most days there didn’t seem to be much going on, with maybe one or two activities going on. Some days there wasn’t any it felt like. In comparison to a TUI Blue hotel we stayed at in July, it definitely felt lacking. The activities that we did get to do though, as mentioned before, were really good. The sun loungers.. although there were no issues with getting a lounger at any point in the day, the sun loungers were dirty and a little disheveled. The cushions could do with replacing. Some were a little squashed and flat or covered in black marks. Flip it over and the back hard bird poop on.. I know you cover it with a towel, but I wouldn’t want to get out of the pool and dry myself with a dirty towel. Maybe it was our bad luck, but it seemed the case for every lounger we used.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay. I think for the price we paid (well over 1k per person) I would have expected the food and drink to be better. Having stayed at hotels costing much less, that served better food and had a better drinks range, it was a little disappointing.

We recently returned to the Aliathon Resort in Paphos, having last visited around 12 years ago, and we were absolutely delighted to be back. If anything, we loved the hotel even more this time around!

The staff throughout the resort were fantastic — friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. A special mention has to go to the maître d’ in the food halls, who provided excellent service and really went the extra mile to make our meals enjoyable.

The bar staff at the Ionian swim-up bars also deserve a special mention. They were brilliant — friendly, attentive and always providing great service with a smile.

The hotel was exceptionally clean throughout, which really added to the overall experience. Everything felt well maintained and cared for.

It was also my birthday during our stay, and the birthday cake provided by the hotel was such a lovely touch and very much appreciated. 🎂

Overall, we had a fantastic stay and were genuinely sad to leave. It was wonderful to return after so many years and find that we enjoyed it even more than our previous visit.
