Alecos Hotel Apartments

Arrived late at night got into the room it was a studio. Was very clean and spacious. Only problems were the curtains didn't fit the patio door and were not black out. There was no sockets near the bed and no bedside tables. Went to reception in the morning to complain and ask for another room, but the hotel was full . Spoke to jet2 rep about the studio. We were given an extension lead for the one socket nearest to the bed. The cleaner fixed the curtain problem. Had to use a kitchen chair for a bedside table. The room needs a full renovation. Next the noise from the nightclub next door was terrible just boom boom boom all night until 5am obviously no sound proofing. The bar across the road, bay watch just as bad loud music all night until about 3/4am we couldn't sleep DO NOT GET BLOCK A. Now for the pool area, sunbeds very old just a few newish ones but enough for everyone. The sun brollies again needed replacing or cleaning up. Either broken or filthy. Now the pool was something else absolutely disgusting a large dirty ring around the top of gunk. Put my fingernail along it and it was like mud. Water kept dropping all the time we were there. Never seen the fountain on in the pool. Never seen anybody cleaning it. Couldn't fault the cleaners they came to the room every day either to clean it or make the bed and leave towels. Would not stay here again .

The reviews and images of Alecos apartments pathos do not represent the shocking reality of these apartments. Starting with the location in a small very noisy street with building work of half demolished and rebuilding hotels and a derelict taverna opposite boarded up to stop the local dossers in the park next door of concrete and mud littered with beer cans. Someone found unconcious, bloodied and hospitalized one night. We did not use the small shallow pool, no facilities, slime in there and rusty, never saw anyone in it only sunbathing its way out back. The courtyard not gardens we never saw used only by smoking staff. Tall dangerous looking palm trees blocking sunlight. Local area is excellent, food and drink ok but as some smokers used the eating area we used harbourside cafes. Our livingroom aircon good but 600mm of worktop with microwave toaster, kettle. I.e. no space. Taps loose or not working in complex. TV every channel no picture says weak or no signal. Bed large, mattress very hard. No bedside tables and no free electric sockets anywhere. Some towels have different hotels printed on them! Dust on skirts and objects. Spill on floor around table mopped once after 7 days. Good bedmaking, rubbish cleaning. Bathroom shower pressure needed to wait 5 mins to warm up and get the soap off your hair. Broken tiles and badly fitted curtain leaking on floor. No shower or soap sundries supplied. Broken glass shelf falling off. Ants in the room. The roof over the annexe we overlook is covered with rubbish with rotted food, bottle tops, sock, fag ends and a balloon or condom over, its patched up with shed felt broken tiles, bodged holes. Our view from our no. 104 block A corner balcony was a solid house wall 6 metres away. A condemned taverna oppo road and the baywatch pub the noisiest in the area till 4am using songs strewn with 4 letter obscenities. This was probably the noisiest apartment in the block with no sound proofing given to a 71 and 73 year old by the so called management. Other reports say when you ask to change room they say we are full. We dont complain but this time is the exception. This apartment block would not be allowed in England. Its dangerous, dirty needing remodernising or closing. Annual FIRE EXTINGUISHER CHECKS were done over 2 years ago and 5 year hydroststic tests as far back as 2016. fireprevention@fs.gov.cy are on the case. Simple tasks not done, major ones cannot be done I have all the pictures let them challenge me. D J Houghton

Came recommended as our first time in Paphos as being quiet, friendly and well situated for bars and the beach. It is just that, rooms are basic and dated but comfortable and have a safe payable at reception. Air conditioner is free and required. The swimming pool is secluded and zero entry. The hotel is attached to Friends bar and restaurant where we had some breakfasts and a pizza which were nice. At night they have singers and tribute acts and it can get very busy. Alecos is close to many other bars and just a short distance to the beach with the harbour around 15 mins walk away. There are also many ruins close by. As we had a ground floor apartment our terrace was surrounded by banana plants which we loved. All in all, a decent place to stay.
