To start with the positives. Good location with a great view with places to eat nearby. Close the beach. Great parking included. The staff were helpful when we had som issues with our room, however a couple of the staff behaved in an unprofessional way. The hotell was very worn. Some of the railings are rotten and will not stop you from falling. Because it is so poorly maintained, it is also difficult to keep clean. However, it could have been cleaned much better with more effort. The kitchen is poorly equipped and does not invite cooking. The sunbeds were old and dirty.
I stayed at Sunny Hill Apartments and unfortunately had a very negative experience.
The apartment itself was dirty when we arrived and felt cold and uncomfortable throughout the stay. The noise levels were awful — there were neighbours fighting loudly during the night which kept us awake for hours. It felt very unsettling and when we reported it to reception, they didn’t do anything to help or resolve the situation.
We also tried the on-site restaurant and it was extremely disappointing. We had pre-booked a different dinner in advance, but when we arrived, that wasn’t what we were given. Instead, we were served overcooked spaghetti with no flavour, plain rice with nothing on it, and dry pork chops that were very hard to eat. That was the entire meal.
To make matters worse, the lady working there avoided us — she actually hid when we went in to eat — and we were not offered any drinks, sauces, or anything with the meal. We were the only people in the restaurant which says a lot, and the food quality and service were both extremely poor.
Overall, between the cleanliness issues, the constant noise, lack of support from reception, and the restaurant experience, the stay was very disappointing. I would not return or recommend staying here.
I really have mixed feelings about this hotel. When we arrived parking was easy. Lady in reception was very friendly and helpful taking us to our room. Upon entering the room it looked clean on the surface, however it really smelt of Indian cooking from possibly the previous residents. There was minimal cookware and crockery, although we managed. The balcony had the most fantastic view but wasn't safe as struts were broken, although the corner had been cordoned off to stop people leaning on it. The best part of the stay was all the cats and kittens that came into the apartment. As I said on the surface as you walk in room was clean but the light switches were filthy there was absolute greasy grime on it. Also I dropped something down behind the dresser in the bedroom and it was really really dirty behind it. Also to add I was staying with my adult daughter and booked because majority of rooms were twins. I even emailed and asked to make sure we had a twin, we didn't, we got a double, when I mentioned it the receptionist pointed to the sofa. It was the most uncomfortable bed ever. Main bed was comfy but daughter talks in her sleep so didn't want to share a bed with me. Would I stay again, yes if the price was really good and lots cheaper than elsewhere, otherwise nope.
The location was fine, access to the beach was decent even if most of the beachfront was occupied by other hotels. The atmosphere of the hotel is more like a your parents house and not a professional bussinss, and now in a good way. Food was incredibly bland for my eastern European taste, you'd get bored of the options after 4 days and all of my friends hated it (get prepared to ordering McDonald's). As someone who worked and studied hospitality, the rooms are shocking. They are incredibly dirty, bugs everywhere and rotten wood every place you can see. The first day of my stay was filled with squashing worms, bugs, spiders and whatever else you can think of. Everything is moldy (doors, cabinets, AC filters) and it's the same in each room. I actually reached out both to the receptionist and manager with my friends from 4 different rooms and I got as a response that it's "none of my business". It's an active health hazard for anyone with allergies or asthma and I'd recommend buying bleach to wipe down everything. Multiple fire alarms and extinguishers are not prepared for an emergency. In multiple rooms I've seen water literally dripping from the ceeling, often down lamps (probably could shock you if you touched it). The cups and water heater were dirty and in the water heater there was mold of something growing from the tiny bit of water left in it. It's a textbook example of every health code/fire code/procedure I've learned as a professional in this field. It's like Gordon Ramsay's "hotel hell" bad. Btw in the image the water bottle was left there and it was behind every sink me and my friends could check and I have no idea why it's there
The reception area looks acceptable at first. By the time you enter the rooms and see the real conditions, it is already too late and you realise you have been scammed . The photos online are (2012) . Rooms are dirty, outdated and badly maintained. The paint was peeling and the cooking facilities were almost unusable. We also encountered cockroaches and bedbugs, which staff dismissed instead of addressing seriously. If you are not very concerned about hygiene, maybe you will tolerate it. But if you have basic sanitary standards, this place becomes extremely uncomfortable very quickly. The food presentation was disgusting and the utensils looked greasy and poorly cleaned. It honestly made you lose your appetite and vomit. This accommodation is awful.
