Just got back from 10 nights here with the family. The location is good, right on the beach, and the pool was probably the best part for the kids. They enjoyed the pool but honestly didn’t like the hotel itself.
The biggest problem for us was the constant ants. We had ants in the room every single day, even after the cleaners had been in. With a 16 month old it was really frustrating because you couldn’t drop anything containing food on the floor without ants appearing within minutes. This happened throughout the whole stay and really needs sorting.
Another thing I wasn’t impressed with was some of the younger staff. They came across quite immature and at times quite rude. There were a couple of occasions around the pool where some of the young lads working there appeared to be watching the teenage girls and giggling amongst themselves. I found it uncomfortable and not particularly professional.
The hotel itself is very dated and needs some investment. The location, beach and pool are good, but unfortunately the accommodation and some of the staff let it down.
So I’m going to be nothing but honest and accurate. The beach is on the doorstep of the hotel (water is stunning and warm). I’m part Cypriot so visit Cyprus every year. This was my first time in Phaphos. Yes the hotel is a little dated - all rooms will have there imperfections on the walls / ceilings etc - personally this doesn’t bother me. The shower however has NO temperature control. It goes from scorching hot to freezing cold every 3-9 seconds. There is nothing you can do about this. Quite annoying actually because you’re Litrally standing there waiting for that middle temperature constantly. rooms are very close together ( like mine ). You can hear everything from the neighbours and upstairs. I had a group of teens next to me the entire holiday so unfortunately I was woken up every night without fail for two weeks. This hotel seemed to attract the chavellers more than other resorts which was a shame. Rooms are cleaned daily if you wish - cleaner is nice and friendly (towels were soiled however). After sleeping on the duvet they provide for a week - I found a plaster stuck to it that wasn’t mine. The rooms do crawl with ants because it’s just that type of building. It’s not the four seasons here, those little things don’t bother me but I know it will for others. The air con is satisfactory. If your somebody who needs the aircon to be freezing Antarctica style - this is not the hotel For you. It does its job but doesn’t go beyond like other air cons. Beds - 2 single beds in my room. Not comfortable to be honest - I will defo always be choosing a 4/5 star hotel with king beds from now on so I’m glad the universe gave me this experience because it won’t be happening again. The local strip is a good 22 minute walk away and all the restaurants are tourist restaurants. In larnaca / portaras for example you can get dinner / souvlakia in pitta for €7/€8 euro. Here it’s minimum €16.50. All the shops are a joke unless you go to local Cypriot supermarkets there is one around 30 minute walk from here. A car for this part of Cyprus is almost mandatory if you want the real experience and will probably save you money overall. Look this isn’t the worse place to stay, staff are ok. Beach is stunning and on the doorstep. I was always able to get a chair at the pool. I just wouldn’t stay here again because the location is a bit far from everything ( even though the bus stop starts at the hotel - tombs of the king is 30 minutes away then a further 15 minutes for the harbour ). And obviously the water situation and thin walls etc for me nothing is worth those simple comforts. It’s also the most tourist part of Cyprus I’ve ever stayed in ( I’ve been here 20 times). If you choose to stay here - you will experience the issues I have raised but you will also have a stunning beach on the doorstep. A-lot of kids here - is family friendly especially if your one of the brits that love to sit around the pool with pool service etc. breakfast is decent. I had a couple of dinner buffets here two - to be honest they are pretty good. You cannot bring your own drinks / snacks to the pool area. You can’t even bring your own drink to dinner etc so please be aware of this. Drinks are expensive this hotel. It’s €5 for a glass of Pepsi ( baring in mind you cannot even bring a bottle of water to dinner ). Also WiFi is only available outside of the rooms ( reception and pool area only ).
The choice is yours.
Was really apprehensive about staying here as had read the reviews but was pleasantly surprised. Stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment with sea and pool view. View was amazing and had 2 balcony’s to choose from. Room was pretty basic, air con was not very powerful. Don’t bother asking for a tv remote from reception as there are no English channels but that was ok for us. Bathroom needed updating but was useable and clean. The bed in the bedroom I’d say was a large king size and really comfortable. We stayed half board the breakfast had a really good variety and was served 7-930 which is a bit early for us but we made it work. Dinner was served 7-9pm and was a themed night every night. There was a poster in reception and in the lifts advertising the food for the evening. We have a really fussy son and he did not like any of the food options. There is an option for young children 0-6 years to pre order chicken nuggets, fish fingers, spaghetti but you had to pay extra for this and order by 1 pm! I struggled to find something to eat too but I am quite fussy. They certainly like lamb and pork dishes . Not much choice if you are a vegetarian. The staff in the restaurant were so kind and friendly we could not fault that. You got to sit at the same table every evening. Be warned as it is very hot especially in August and there is only ceiling fans in the restaurant which didnt really do much. The reception staff were very friendly and accommodating. The pool was fantastic. Always managed to find sunbeds and the water was like a Luke warm bath. No evening entertainment so 5 mins down the road is legends or you can catch the 615 bus to coral bay strip €2 per person each way cash only. All in all was not as bad as I thought but just because of the food choice we would not stay here again.
It was excellent, The staff were all very helpful, the rooms are cleaned every day. The apartment was right 400 yards from one of the best beaches I have ever been to. Stayed self catering but when we ate in the restaurant the food was of a high quality. The whole family were really happy with the hotel and will visit again and would highly recommend
Mixed opinion.
lovely location and food is pretty good but dinner can be limited if you aren't a meat eater. wide choice for breakfast and lunch - brilliant
couple of downsides include no nightlife, no air con/fans in bedrooms, not great for accessible people (thin, unlit corridors and steep ramps), our room had an ant infestation and the lobby is filled with them. there is also no wifi in the rooms- only around the pool and lobby which the hotel failed to mention on the website. there are limited utensils in the kitchen and our shower pressure kept changing from hard to soft- in addition the shower wouldn't run on its own, the bath ran too.
mixed service at the front desk but housekeeping was great and friendly, including friendly bar staff.
place is pretty outdated and could do with a refurb but for the week it was pretty okay.
