Stayed for 10 days, such a lovely hotel. Views are beautiful. 2 mins down the path to sandy beach with beach bar and loungers. All staff were lovely from our extremely late night night check in guy, cleaners, bar staff, owners and the maintenance guy who offered to help with my case on check out. We had 2 rooms, 1 was ground floor garden view and was lovely. Mine was top floor room 316 side sea view. The view was stunning. Aircon was great in bedroom and lounge. It had everythjng you need. It was very clean. Cleaners came daily if you wanted them except sunday which was just towel change and bin empty. Pool area was great. Clean and tidy with views over the sea. Courtesy shower room available for check out day. We had a car but there is a bus stop outside and 24 hour kiosks nearby and some lovely bars and restaurants. I would stay again. Thank you Helios and staff 😊 x
Well where to start, most of the people that we spoke to on holiday seemed to have been coming for years (maybe when it was good) and seem to be stuck in their ways saying the hotel is great. The breakfast was bad small bits of cut up hot dogs and eggs was their go too, to be fair the room was good the kitchen was new and things worked which is the reason they are getting 2/5, the staff was unhelpful and rude! I left my shirt by the pool one day and asked at reception if they had seen it they sent me to the bar outside to ask, then the people at the bar said to come back in the morning which I did then they said “you should look after your things better” and laughed at me. None of them attempted to help or look for it just tried to pass me on to someone else. The housekeepers came in our room whilst we had the sign on to not be disturbed to which I went down to reception and they took no responsibility and basically blamed us, when we did want them to clean the room one time they did a really good job, you have to pay extra for the safe in your room and the balcony door doesn’t lock, also you can’t lock your hotel door. The view from the balcony was nice but that’s about it, I would not recommend staying here.
I would class Helios as a good mid price apart-hotel. A little tired in places perhaps but nothing to get upset about.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment on the third floor - and it suited 2 people perfectly. No lifts but the stairs are not over steep/high. Plenty of space, functional and very clean with everything we needed including a small balcony with a table and chair for 2 people.
Coming at the very end of the season you get a different experience. The hotel very quiet at this time of year (perfect for us) so there were plenty of beds available around the pool, and it was very relaxed. I imagine very busy in summer but you can drag your deck bed into the gardens for a bit of peace if needed.
There are plenty of local restaurants in walking distance, and the bus to Coral Bay or Paphos Centre is directly opposite and runs frequently. There is a small supermarket under 10 mins walk away with all the basics - but you will need car/bus/taxi if you want to be more self sufficient and need a big shop.
Checkout is noon - but If you’re on a late flight home there are showers you can use in the gym area, and bag storage which is really helpful,
We had no issues with staff as some other reviewers have mentioned - the cleaning crew work super hard and rooms are serviced every day apart from Sunday
A couple of small negatives.
We arrived really late on the Jet 2 Flight. Check in was absolutely no problem as the receptionist was waiting for us, but no ability to get a drink or even a cup of tea as the 24 hour bar was shut down. That may be different at busier at times of year.
We had breakfast the first morning - mainly as we had no provisions and didn’t find it the best quality so we avoided and had breakfast in our little balcony each morning.
In all, we had a great holiday.
This was our third stay in the last 12 months and I think this says it all. We just love the place, its quiet atmosphere and its attentive staff that makes us feel like at home - Nicos, the manager, so helpful with booking or assissting with our endless questions.. Yelena, the kindest receptionist ever.. The cleaning ladies, doing their job very thoroughly... Everybody is always happy to talk and help. For us there's something about Helios Bay Hotel that makes us want to return as often as possible. Each stay is a treat and we can't wait to come again ❤️
