Great Value!
The Toxotis was remarkably good value for money. Although we booked All inclusive we didn't expect to dine there very often but the food was delicious so we rarely ate out at the nearby restaurants. The staff in the hotel dining hall were very efficient when it came to clearing the tables and taking drinks orders, Tassos and Sami in particular looked after us. We spent a lot of time by the pool and the lady (Marianna?) who worked at the pool bar was very friendly and was always smiling despite being very busy at times. Our room was basic however everything worked and it was cleaned and restocked daily. If we ever revisit Pernera we wont hesitate to book Toxotis again.
Wouldn’t recommend
Here is my review of toxotis hotel from a Family of 3 (couple and 2 year old) who stayed at this hotel. It is by far the worst hotel we have stayed in. The kids club is rarely open (although the lady running it is lovely and was great with our little one) but limited things to do within the club.
The room we were given - we asked for a cot and was given one. However, after 1 night with the cot in the room we had to remove it as we couldn’t walk to the balcony due to no space and couldn’t get past. So we had to co sleep with our 2 year old (not ideal). Two single beds pushed together with a gap where our child had to sleep. Was located on the top floor, where as a couple with no kids (my sister) had a much larger room than us located on the 1st floor.
The pool.. very slippery! Had spoken to multiple people who had fallen and slipped around the pool. One with a broken ankle. The tiles are slippery when wet and not textured tiles as you would imagine to have round a pool. Gaps between tiles and a massive trip hazard. Not child friendly. I know you shouldn’t run around the pool but the excitements of children, they are bound to do little skips/runs. We were always saying ‘careful/walking only’, to not just our child but other children! Definitely needed wet shoes on and even they were slippery.
The pool is missing multiple tiles inside and is covered in sand at the bottom. And hasn’t been cleaned since we got here! 10 nights ago.
I had asked if we could pay to keep the room on earlier in the week - was told to ask on the morning of departure. Asked, no rooms available.
No baby changing! No places to change my 2 year old. When we had our room we could change our child in the room. At the end of the holiday, when our key was handed in, I asked for a baby changing room…we were given a key to a room which had not yet been cleaned to change our child!! How can a ‘family hotel’ not have baby changing?
Food was hit and miss - we spent about 500 euro eating out all week (breakfast, dinner and tea). You shouldn’t have to do this on an all inclusive. Only decent food evening was the Mexican night… Drinks are rubbish, watered down. (not even proper coke, or original soft drinks) can’t get yourself a drink or even an ice cream. Have to ask for them which I’ve never had to do in any other hotel.
When getting a drink (beer) - bottom of pint gets left in the freezer and topped up when you want one? Like whattt? Never known anything like it.
Although, the waiters are lovely and polite and were great with our little one, however there was one lady (management I imagine) who stopped us from entering the restaurant as we were damp from the pool and was told we had to dry off…if had been raining and our Towels were wet?
Entertainment isn’t great. Again, we went out of the hotel every-night as it was just boring. Kids disco was on for around 20 minutes, away from the adult entertainment. To watch our child dance we had to leave our table at the adult entertainment and on return our seats would have been taken?
Through speaking to a handful of others; they are happy with the hotel as they only paid half of what we had paid. So we were really disappointed and will absolutely not be returning.
Walls are paper thin, on route to the lift- we could hear couples doing their business whilst awaiting for the lift. The lift is usually quiet. Unfortunately, this time around, the lift was taking a while and we had no option to listen to it. My little one asking ‘what’s that noise’ - what do you respond to that?🤦🏽♀️
In resort flight check in? We never got offered this but my friend in an other hotel was offered this service.
Would not recommend. This hotel is aimed at older parties and couples. Not many families with young children around.
Great staff, food and location
Lovely modern hotel with an excellent location. Staff were brilliant and very welcoming. The food was great with a good choice and selection, lots of lounger choices by the pool too. We thought it was excellent value for money and better than we expected.
Ignore coeliac do not go here!
We chose it bexasue we were assured that out diary issues - DONOT o not go if you have serious dietary requirements. Such as coeliac - They do not uphold their end of a bargain having asked before booking after booking and just before departing the uk to assurances they will be able to cater - apparently a huge plate of dry meat and some veg is a suitable choice with only one desert option. We expected more
I wrote a complaint and showed the restaurant staff - who behaved like a manager to be told to email it!
The music in the pool side is over loud and consistently the same records over and over for the whole week so far! Poor covers and no change of tempo or choic just loud
The rooms are basic beds hard 3x a adults in two singles and a very narrow sofa bed !
3 times we have had to ask for more toilet paper and shower mats to be delivered
when complaining we’re told to put here as nothing would be done unless it’s on here !
Evening entertainment is poor at best
An Honest Review – Written Whilst We’re Still Here!
This will probably be one of the most honest reviews you’ll read, purely because I’m writing it whilst we’re still here enjoying our holiday!
We came as a family of six, including our 8-month-old baby, and I wanted to give a genuine review of our experience so far.
Food – Better Than Some Reviews Suggest!
Before arriving, I’d read plenty of reviews with people complaining about the food. However, I genuinely believe you get what you pay for, and personally, I think the food has been good!
One of the biggest positives is the variety. There are nine different themed dinner nights, including BBQ & Grill, Asian, Mexican, Cyprus Night and plenty of others.
The Mexican night has easily been our favourite, whilst the Asian night probably wasn’t the best, but that’s personal preference!
Of course, I’ve heard people complaining about the food whilst we’ve been here, but realistically, with that much variety, you’re not going to please everyone.
Something worth mentioning for families with babies is that our 8-month-old has been eating the food here too! We brought plenty of baby food from home just in case, but we’ve barely needed to use it. None of the six of us have had any upset stomachs or issues with the food whatsoever.
The Hotel & Grounds
The hotel itself is actually really nice. From what I understand, it was previously known as the “Ghost Hotel”, so I’m assuming it’s been bought out and is now undergoing redevelopment or improvements.
You can definitely see the potential here. I genuinely believe that in a few years’ time, with continued investment and improvements, this could become one of the best-value hotels in the area.
It’s certainly not perfect, but I think some people forget the price they’ve paid when comparing it with more expensive resorts. And most importantly looks exactly like the photos on the website
Cleaning & Housekeeping
Now, one thing that has been slightly annoying is the cleaners!
They certainly do their jobs, which is obviously a positive, but they can be a little persistent.
We’ve had them knocking on our door at around 8:30 in the morning asking to clean the room. After telling them to come back later, they’ve returned just 15 minutes afterwards!
It’s not a massive problem for us, but I can absolutely understand how this might frustrate people who want a lie-in or a relaxing morning, especially when you’re on holiday.
Drinks & Bars
The beer is actually pretty good! They advertise it as Kappa, but from what I’ve seen, they have KEO (the local Cypriot beer) on the kegs.
There’s also a decent selection of spirits, including Malibu, vodka, white rum, dark rum, as well as white wine and rosé.
For an all-inclusive hotel at this price point, I personally think the drinks selection is perfectly reasonable.
Pergola, Entertainment & Lunch Options
At the back of the complex, there’s a pergola area which is used for evening entertainment.
During the afternoon, it’s also a great spot to grab some lunch, with options including burgers, club sandwiches, pasta and other lighter meals.
It’s a nice alternative to the main restaurant, particularly if you don’t fancy a full buffet lunch.
Swimming Pools & Sunbeds
The pool area is lovely and one of the highlights for us as a family.
One thing we particularly like is the double sunbeds, which are brilliant when you’ve got a little one with you. It makes relaxing around the pool much easier, especially when you’re trying to keep everyone together.
Just be carful of the floor as there has been reports of people slipping, but take it slow and don’t rush about you’re on holiday
Overall – Would I Recommend It?
Absolutely, especially for families looking for an affordable all-inclusive holiday.
Is it a luxury five-star resort? No. But I don’t think it claims to be, and I think that’s where some of the negative reviews are a little unfair.
You’re getting a hotel with good facilities, plenty of food variety, decent drinks, nice swimming pools and entertainment, all for what I consider to be good value for money.
There are definitely areas that could be improved, and I’m not going to pretend everything is perfect. But we’re here as a family of six, including an 8-month-old baby, and we’re genuinely enjoying ourselves.
My biggest advice to anyone considering booking is to come with realistic expectations. Don’t expect five-star luxury if you’re paying for a budget-friendly all-inclusive holiday.
I think this hotel has a lot of potential, and if the improvements continue, I can see it becoming one of the best-value options in the area over the next few years.
And unlike some reviews written weeks after people have returned home, this is coming from someone who’s actually sitting here at the hotel writing it!
Would we come back? Based on our experience so far, yes!
