This unique resort complex is situated right on the coast and surrounded by beautiful and expansive landscaped gardens. The area is fantastic for diving, and the resort has its own scuba diving school. Guests can relax on the sun terrace by the impressive outdoor swimming pool, swim in the exotic indoor swimming pool cave, enjoy a massage in the spa with sauna, Jacuzzi and steam bath, or play a game of squash, tennis, or beach volleyball. There is also a children's playground, a gym and a games room onsite for added entertainment and convenience. The resort provides double rooms and spacious one-bedroom suites, allowing room for families to stretch out and unwind. Each suite includes a comfortable lounge, en suite bathroom, fully-equipped kitchen with dining table, and a large balcony. Guests will delight in the rich and varied buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant and can sip a drink at the poolside bar. The perfect place for a laidback Mediterranean holiday.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
After a difficult year it was really important to us to find the perfect family holiday destination. A huge amount of research and review reading was done and I am pleased to say Malama Beach Holiday Village has been perfect for us.
We stayed in a one bedroom, garden view suite on a half-board basis. The sofas were made into beds for our two children and they slept comfortably.
The suite was lovely, spotless on arrival and the cleaning team came in everyday (apart from Sunday), they removed recycling and rubbish, made beds, swept and changed towels. Would have liked them to have swept the balcony as it got sandy quickly from our beach things, but as we had a dust pan and brush in the kitchen we managed to keep this clean enough. A small kitchenette was brilliantly equipped. We didn’t cook but you could do basics if you needed as there is a microwave, 2 ring hob, toaster, kettle. Pans, utensils, cutlery and crockery all provided and kids plastic plates, bowls and cutely too. The fridge was perfect for storing drinks and food.
Plenty of cupboards and shelves for clothes and storage. Both the bedroom and lounge were big enough to store our suitcases in corners without tripping over them all holiday!
The hotel itself is lovely, we really enjoyed the accommodation being spread out around the grounds rather than one big building. It made it feel more private than a big hotel. The staff are fantastic, reception very helpful and answered any questions we had, booked us a taxi when needed and gave us information on buses and trips. Maintenance were on hand when needed, my daughter managed to change the code on our safe and within minutes of calling reception one of the maintenance team arrived at our room to override and open the safe…phew!
There is a small shop just outside the entrance to the hotel for essentials and a bigger shop / small supermarket a few minute walk up the road. We used both and could easily find snacks, food for lunch, toiletries, drinks etc.
The pool area is very nice, and kept clean. There are 3 pools, one of which is shallow for small children. We did find the pool to be cold but lovely on very hot days for an instant cool down! It didn’t stop my children from playing in the pool continuously and to be honest not totally unexpected in October! The sun loungers being allocated for the duration of the stay was a big plus for us. We had a great spot where we could see the kids in the pool easily. The team were very willing to move you, if needed, when space became available. Pool towels were also provided and you can change for fresh towels every 2 days, this is another huge plus.
The food is good, lots of choice. Several live cooking stations, you do need to be prepared to queue at these during busy times, but food is cooked fresh so hardly something to complain about and plenty else readily available if short on time. Restaurant staff were quick to clear tables and serve drinks. As half board we could easily swap dinner for lunch, which we did on a couple of days and then went out of the resort in the evening.
The beach is lovely, just a short walk from the pool area down a private footpath from the hotel. The water is shallow, clear and very calm, perfect for the kids to play in. It is a small cove, so not a huge amount of beach but we always found a spot, even if some days it was a squeeze! The water was very warm and inviting, and great for snorkeling. There is a lovely beach bar with great staff and a great mix of tables for eating, or just sitting taking in the views with a drink. Also a jetty with water sports, the team there were very friendly.
We did a couple of trips, a short taxi to Protaras for an explore and to see the Magic Fountains, which we all enjoyed. We enjoyed a walk along the sea front where there were lots of hotels and beach front bars. It was nice to see Fig Tree Bay which we had heard about from friends. We had food at Siko Seaside, which we recommend, lovely atmosphere and food on the sea front. We walked back up through the strip early evening, which was nice to see but personally would not rush back to. There were some lovely local and authentic looking bars and restaurants but also plenty of ‘Brit’ style places such as the Only Fools and Horses and Cheers bars, great TV shows, but not our preference to experience abroad!
We got the bus to Ayia Napa one afternoon, it took 40min, but it went around the coast so lovely views. The bus stop was a 5min walk from the hotel and only cost €2 per adult, €1 per child. We are glad we visited Ayia Napa, lovely for a walk around and drinks / dinner. A taxi back late evening only took 20min and cost €30.
Our highlight of the trip was swimming with turtles and snorkeling in the blue lagoon. We decided to take a private boat from the water sports team on the jetty by the hotel. They take you out earlier than the big boats, so better chances of seeing and swimming with the turtles. Once we saw those boats arrive we were glad we paid more for private. With many more people getting into the water we would have struggled to get close to the turtles, luckily all 4 of us managed to swim up close with them. A first for us all and an experience we will never forget.
Malama Beach Holiday Village and its surrounding areas has everything you need for a lovely relaxing break, we highly recommend and will be back.
We had a great stay again - this is our 8 or 9th stay here so safe to say we think it is a great place! Every member of staff is so helpful and friendly - it would be wrong to single out any as we think every one is great! We love coming here, it has become a second home. We love the rooms, the food is absolutely amazing and so much of it! The facilities are brilliant - pools both in & out, the bar areas, the Spa treatments available are great and the fantastic Dive school on site. The lovely little beach with beautiful clear water! There is nothing we find negative!
Myself & my husband visited the Malama Beach for the 7th time at the very end of October for 9 days. We've never repeat visited anywhere else in the world this many times so that tells you how much we are comfortable & how much we enjoy it here. We like the fact that the hotel is in lots of separate 3 storey blocks with pretty gardens in between them, not 1 high block & above all we love the gorgeous setting of the pools overlooking the beautiful small cove beach. The rooms are modern & very clean, they are cleaned every day except Sunday. It's in the cute small village of Kapparis with several excellent restaurants & bars a few minutes walk away ( we always go bed & breakfast ), we love Karas the most, Just Italian & Faliros are also good restaurants. There's a small supermarket just at the Malama gates & a large 1 called Best Value 5 minutes walk away up on the main road. We always hire a car & drive to Protaras in about 10 minutes with a big choice of restaurants & bars, though about 40% of these were closed in the 1st week of November. Ayia Napa is also only a 20 min drive away with an attractive harbour, fairground etc. Paralimni the main inland town is also interesting, with a main square with old & new churches & "proper " shops eg Marks & Spencers if you're curious to visit it. Our favourite beach to visit is Konnos Bay, a stunning cove with steep cliffs round it, you need to drive down hairpin bends to reach it, about 25 mins drive the other side of Protaras, get there early for a parking space. The view from the lone cafe is amazing & there's Mike's Watersports too. Fireman's Beach is also nice, turn left on the coastal path, you can walk there in about 15 mins
The other main thing we love about the Malama is how helpful & welcoming the staff are, the same staff have worked there for many years which shows how happy & committed they are to guests happiness. Mr Panicos Roussos, the restaurant manager, is an exceptional person in our opinion, he has trained his staff to be so polite & hard working & he is a credit to the hotel. The staff on reception, in the bars & on the sunbeds are also all so lovely & kind. You are allocated sunbeds on arrival that you keep for the whols stay which we think is very helpful. We've always enjoyed the breakfast, plenty of choice, the omelette lady is also very good, sorry can't remember her name. 1 evening this year we tried the Mediterranean night at the hotel restaurant, there was an excellent range of foods for all tastes, the live cooking areas were brilliant.
We originally used to come here with our son, he used to love the activities like the football matches every afternoon, darts, archery, pool volleyball etc but as he's grown up now it was just my husband & I this time so we can't remark on the children's activities now.
We have loved our holidays at the Malama & would definately recommend the hotel to anyone who wants a well run hotel in a beautiful setting that's in a quiet area but which is easily accessible to livelier resorts ( buses run frequently to Protaras & Ayia Napa €2 a ticket if you don't hire a car .) Thank you Malama staff for many happy holidays. Xxx
I stayed B&B for a week with my partner early in May. We were happy with the room and found the bed very comfortable. We really liked being allocated our loungers on the first day, this took away any stress on this front. We thought the setting of the hotel was lovely and found the buffet breakfast to be excellent, lots of choice and the bread tasted warm and fresh. The staff at the bar were very friendly too. One thing we were disappointed in was that there was no animation staff around during our stay, and so no darts or other games. I suspect this may be due to it being early season. The nearby area is fairly quiet but there are a few bars/restaurants. It was about 20 mins on the bus to Protaras.
We have come to this hotel for second time. Very nice location, very clean, the food is amazing and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The little beach in front of the hotel with small cafe/ restaurant overseeing the Mediterranean Sea is just the ice on the cake. Will be returning again next year .
