I recently stayed at the Dome Beach Marina Hotel & Resort as a mobility-impaired guest reliant on two crutches, accompanied by my 66-year-old carer. This resort proved to be an architectural and safety nightmare, exacerbated by an utterly disgraceful attitude from the front desk management.
Upon arrival, we were placed in a room requiring us to navigate a steep incline blocked by a heavy fire door with restricted visibility—a severe injury hazard where anyone opening the door rapidly from the other side could have violently knocked me down. When I explicitly warned the front desk manager about this threat and the hotel's legal liability, she smirked, looked at her older male colleague, and declared on video: "No the hotel is not responsible, You have to take care... we are not responsible even if you are here. Why we should be?" When my carer shocked asked "Seriously?", she rolled her eyes and snapped, "Seriously, YES!" Her colleague mockingly added, "We are not doctors or...", and the manager finished by saying, "let's pray you will not fall down... we will pray for you." Sardonically mocking a disabled guest's risk of falling in unison is an absolute low for hospitality.
Furthermore, management crudely refused baggage assistance, forcing my 66-year-old carer to haul heavy backpacks across multiple floors and rooms independently. The resort's vast layout required walking immense distances, forcing me to rent a mobility scooter out of pocket for €80 just to move safely.
The alternative "accessible" room on the 1st floor was equally non-compliant. The shower drain was heavily clogged, causing deep pooling water. The provided anti-slip mat was completely defective; its suction cups failed to adhere to any surface whatsoever—neither the shower basin nor the bathroom floor—sliding entirely freely on contact. Instead of medical safety equipment, I was forced to bathe using a standard plastic outdoor bar/pool chair on a flooding, slick surface.
To make matters worse, the property had severe sanitation failures (live cockroaches running across the floor, thick dust under the beds, heavily stained armchair cushions). Furthermore, hotel staff were wet-painting the resort floors with white chemical paint during daytime hours directly adjacent to our tables while we were actively eating a pre-booked restaurant dinner, forcing guests to inhale toxic fumes.
The ONLY dignified aspect of this entire stay was the exceptional hospitality of the Head Chef, Panikos. On my first day, Chef Panikos observed our struggle, immediately took the plate from my carer, and firmly stated, 'This is my job and I must help you.' Every single day, he respectfully greeted me, described the meals in detail, and insisted on serving me safely. While the kitchen staff demonstrated basic humanity, the hotel front desk management utterly failed their basic duty of care.
A formal case file has been opened with the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism, and a full legal dispute is active with Lastminute and PayPal supported by extensive video evidence of these safety breaches and verbal harassment. Avoid this hotel at all costs if you value safety and basic human dignity.

Our summer holiday at this hotel exceeded our expectations. The setting is superb, offering a convenient location with easy access to local attractions. Every meal was beautifully prepared, with an excellent choice of dishes and consistently high quality. The hospitality was first-class throughout our stay. In particular, Harrydeep in the restaurant deserves special recognition for his courteous, attentive and genuinely welcoming manner, which made each visit a delight.
The swimming pools are generously sized, immaculately maintained and provide the perfect place to unwind or enjoy time with the family. Overall, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a memorable summer escape.
