Not what I have expected to get for the money we paid for stay
This hotel is definitely not a 4-star hotel, but somewhere between 2 and 3 stars.
- Location – The hotel is right on the road, so you can hear all the cars and buses just outside your window. To get to the sea, you have to cross the road and go down what feels like millions of stairs to the beach. Sunbeds cost €15, and if you arrive after 10:00, you probably won’t find one available.
- View – Yes, there is a sea view, but it comes with a lot of noise from the nearby construction site. Sometimes it’s so loud that you can barely hear each other.
- Hotel/room – The room is spacious but old and outdated. Yes, there are mirrors, but there are no power sockets nearby, so you can’t use the hairdryer conveniently. Yes, there is a bathtub, but it is very high and difficult to get in and out of. There is a TV, but the regular channels don’t work properly, and when we tried casting, the internet connection made it difficult to watch anything. There is a fridge, but the drinks don’t get cold because it simply doesn’t cool properly. There is air conditioning, but it is noisy and old, more like a fan than proper air conditioning.
- Restaurant – Breakfast is good, but dinner is nothing special. For €26, you get a simple buffet that feels more like something you would expect in a 2–3-star hotel.
- Spa and pool – They are okay, but also quite old. And, as mentioned above, you can hear the construction noise from the nearby site.
The big advantage is the bus stop right next to the hotel, with direct buses to the city centre.
Uvala Hotel in Lapad - Lovely!!
What can we say, only what a great hotel the Uvala is in Lapad. Staff are lovely and the food is great! Rooms clean and would recommend it.
Okay Stay
Bus stop right across from hotel to get to old town. Very expensive considering hotel lacks many modern amenities. The AC in our room did not work well. I expected slightly more for a 4 star hotel. Wouldn’t stay again in the future.
Lovely relaxing holiday
Excellent location, Beach 2 minutes walk away and not over crowded. Shops, supermarket, restaurants all within 10 minutes walk. Safe, and friendly atmosphere. Rooms where clean, good aircon, it was hot outside so nice to come back to after a days exploring, fridge that was not full of the hotels own bits to sale you so you could fill it with your own stuff which was handy as we had a picnic dinner on the beach a couple of times, which was nice. The hotel was very good value, we had breakfast included which was excellent, and we had one evening meal there which was good. The hotel next door was being refurbished but this did not affect our stay and the noise level was very low, if non existent. Hotel staff are very good and look after you on every level. Bus stop right outside the hotel so with in 15 minutes you are in Old Town Dubrovnik.
August stay.
A lovely hotel. Rooms were clean and had everything you need. Dressing gown and slippers provided. A safe and a small fridge were available. The balcony was a little disappointing as it felt enclosed. Having said that, the views over the bay were fantastic! The food was great. Good variation of evening meals. I especially liked the bbq and taste of Croatia nights and appreciated the offer of a complimentary drink with the meal. Meal time drinks ( including water) were payable as extras. We put these on a tab and paid for them at the end of the holiday. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They could not do enough for you. The housekeeping staff were always smiling and spoke to us daily! The pool area is at the front of the hotel overlooking the sea. There is a little noise from the road in front and some building work on a new hotel next door. This did not affect us though. There are a small number of sun beds and I was concerned that it would be a fight to get one but we never had a problem whatever time of day we went down. Towels were provided. The spa and indoor pool were clean. We were allowed to use the spa shower facilities on our last day once we had checked out of our room allowing us to swim before leaving. Lunch can be purchased and eaten either in the outdoor restaurant area, or it can be bought to you by the pool. The same with drinks. The bus to Dubrovnik stops right outside the hotel. It is so easy to use. We purchased a 7 day Dubrovnik pass. It certainly paid for itself, giving us access to the walls walk, a number of museums, monastery, fort, bus fares and a discount on the ferry to Locrum island. Well worth the money. There was no entertainment at the hotel but it was a 2 minute walk into Lapad where there were loads of bars and restaurants, some of which had live music. Make sure you wander along to the cave bar - a unique experience! The access to a pebbly beach is just across the road. Perfect for a dip in the sea to cool off! It was extremely hot in August. Overall we had an amazing holiday. We will be back.
