An Unforgettable Journey Through Music and History
During our stay at Hotel Lapad, my husband and I had the privilege of attending the most wonderful evening of music, history, food and culture. There were only five of us there, which made the whole experience feel incredibly personal. We were introduced to a wonderful young pianist, Ivana Jelača whose knowledge, warmth and extraordinary musical talent completely captivated us. Her mother, a historian, also joined us and Ivana took us on a journey through the history of the hotel, Dubrovnik and Croatia. What made the evening truly magical was the music. She played pieces dating from the 1600s right through to the 20th century, allowing us to hear the changing musical landscape alongside the history of the country and the hotel. There were also traditional drinks and sweets associated with the different periods—a beautiful rose liqueur, candied almonds, figs and orange peel, and little traditional pastries. It wasn't simply something to watch; we were experiencing the history through music, stories, tastes and conversation. At one point, listening to the piano, I genuinely had goosebumps. I found myself imagining a garden in 17th-century Croatia, surrounded by the sounds and atmosphere of another time. That is something I will remember for a very long time. My husband and I have travelled to many places, but this was one of those unexpected experiences that becomes part of the story you take home with you. Thank you to both of these wonderful women for sharing their knowledge, their culture and their music with us. You didn't simply tell us about Croatia's history—you made us feel as though we had briefly stepped inside it. An absolutely beautiful and unforgettable evening. ❤️
Try balcony in hotel with garden view and coffee was tasty
The location was handy by bus stop was handy and atmosphere was amazing with pool has been a help. The room was spot on with good cleaning and fresh room. The atmosphere was great with garden view from balcony has been helpful. The services was helpful and friendly with good staff and excellent services with pool and breakfast spot on food and tasty pizza. No noise level is helpful it’s so quiet which locals are friendly. The value is part of TUI and travel agent is helpful so it’s good hotel with friendly helpful place.
Hotel Lapad — Fine, but Underwhelming for the Price
Hotel Lapad was perfectly fine, but unfortunately nothing about our stay felt particularly memorable or exceptional.
We booked a room with a partial sea view and balcony, although in reality the view was more parking lot than sea. The room itself was comfortable enough and the hotel was well maintained, but at roughly $300 per night, this was actually the most expensive hotel of our trip and, frankly, my least favorite.
We have been traveling for several weeks and have stayed primarily in smaller luxury and boutique hotels, so I do think that influenced my expectations. That said, one of the things that stood out here was the difference in hospitality. The reception staff were efficient, but they were easily the least warm or welcoming of anywhere we have stayed on this trip.
Breakfast was adequate, but nothing stood out, and there were several large tour groups staying at the hotel during our visit, which made the breakfast area quite congested.
There was nothing particularly wrong with Hotel Lapad, but for the price, I expected a more special experience. It may be a good fit for travelers who prefer a larger, more traditional hotel, but for us it simply lacked the warmth and character we have enjoyed elsewhere on this trip.
Croatia Trip - Dubrovnik
Whilst it is located 3kms away from old town, it is well connected by buses...the rooms are small and very far away...we had to take 3 separate lifts to reach our room... disappointed... What you see in the photos is not what you get...avoidable
Good 4 star hotel in great location
Great 4 star hotel for both location and staff.... the whole team there were great and really looked after us during our stay.
Breakfast was plentiful and the choice was excellent to fill all guests needs... my only gripe is the lack of decaf coffee and tea and the need to chase staff to get it for you... very minor but worthy of note.
We stayed in two rooms - 14 and 33 - both were very good. Both had decent TV's with Netflix access if you wanted to watch films etc.... they also had the usual Sky and BBC news channels.
Beds were comfortable with AC working well... only gripe is that they are starting to look a bit tired and frayed around the edges with the need for an update. Towels provided also need looking at as they were very thin and looked as though they need replacing sooner than later.
Bar area and restaurant were good. The restaurant was nice and airy with plenty of room between tables. There is a snack menu in the bar which lasts most of the day until 22:00 if you need a snack/meal.
Location is great with good views of the harbour - bus runs outside to get into Dubrovnik old town but we used Uber quite a bit which were much more reasonable that local taxis....
Would highly recommend this hotel if going to Dubrovnik.
