Good hotel with great staff

Really good hotel, quiet area with a a few bars and restaurants around although don’t be fooled by the images as there are no sunbeds on the beach and the restaurant and bar on the beach is permanently shut down. Food was great in the hotel and the cleaners were brilliant with fresh towels and bedding everyday. Only issue we had with the room is that it doesn’t have a fridge and no where to hang your towels/ swimwear. There is also no lift in the annex. The staff was really friendly especially Zoran who always approached us and was happy to see us every time, teaching us different languages and also trying to engage with other customers and learning their language too!

A complete scam – my reservation was completely dishonored!

I came to Dubrovnik for a conference, and due to its proximity to the venue hotel, I booked and paid for my accommodation at Hotel Komodor back in March through a travel agency in my hometown. The reservation was crystal clear: 1/1 standard room including a balcony with a park view, half board.

The main reason I would never stay here again in a million years, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone, is that my reservation was completely dishonored. Namely, upon arrival at the property, a receptionist named Tonci mockingly told me that such a room did not exist in their hotel and continued to smirk with his colleague Jelena, acting "shocked" as to how I could have even made such a reservation. He told me that single (1/1) rooms don't have balconies at all, just a window facing a wall, and that the only rooms with balconies are double rooms, after which he handed me the key to a single room. The room I was given looked like anything but a hotel room. It felt like I was being punished by being sent there. Together with the bathroom, the entire space was the size of a pantry or a toilet. The window in the room looked like a garage window. After seeing the room, I went back to the reception. Tonci kept insisting that such a room didn't exist and that I had received the key to the exact room I booked—acting as if his job was done and he couldn't care less that I hadn't received what I actually paid for. I even showed him a photo (from Booking.com) of the room type I had reserved, to which he claimed it didn't exist, behaving as if I were showing him a photo of a hotel in another country. At one point, he slipped up and admitted that those rooms do exist but were already occupied, and that I would have to pay an extra €200 if I wanted a different room. In short, he was trying to make a fool out of me. Then he called the hotel manager, who repeated the same story. However, after a few minutes of discussion between the two of them in a back room, he gave me a key to a room in the annex—of course, again without a balcony, without light, and with a window facing a wall just a meter away, which I didn't even dare to open due to bugs and various pests that could get in.

To sum it up: what I paid for months in advance was completely disregarded in every single aspect.

The only positive thing about this property is the location. Food (dinner) was decent, with the exception of breakfast, which lacks options for guests with food restrictions. The housekeeping staff and the restaurant staff are very polite and helpful, but the reception staff and the manager completely ruin the experience with their attitude. Also, cleanliness could and definitely should be better. Overall, I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Looking at other reviews, I see I am not the only one who has been scammed like this, and that this has clearly become a regular practice rather than an isolated incident.

Pretty Good Hotel A Bus Ride From Old Town With Staff Failures To Provide Local Info

The hotel is in Lapad near a lovely bay and an easy bus ride from Old Town. The room was good sized, queen bed and lots of closet/drawer space, missing in many hotels. There was no fridge, so I had to get ice from the bar. No safe in room, but one was provided near the front desk. Television had many channels, including British news, but no CNN. Included breakfast was bountiful with much to eat. The downside was lack of information re the local area. I arrived late and by the time I came down to eat, I was told nothing was available, except a small market about to close, so I rushed there and bought some awful packaged meat, some bread and a diet coke. I asked about the surrounding area, presuming there were restaurants near the bay, and was told there were a couple a bit of a walk on the left side. This was important, because after my first exhausting day in Old Town, there was little to do on the 2nd, so I returned to the hotel at 4 pm. At 6pm and not needing a full meal, I asked where I could get some sandwiches, since no restaurants were nearby save the buffet at the hotel. I was pointed to a bakery nearby and was shocked there were other lively establishments and a full market not viewable from the street. Amazing is that the otherwise helpful staff didn't prepare me for what I discovered my final day. I went to the bay road for a walk and on the right side saw many, many restaurants and shops. No one had told me when I asked the first night, and when I told the staff they said they knew, but had never told me. The question is why?

Great holiday at Komodor Lapad

The hotel was very friendly and welcoming ,we had a sea view room with balcony which had 2 chairs and a table a great spot to watch the sun setting over the sea. The food at breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Dinner there was always a choice of at least 2 meat dishes and a fish dish along with pasta dishes always delicious. The hotel is a little dated but clean the pool was a welcome relief when it was a hot day always clean. It was the staff that really made our holiday from Nada our room cleaner to the waiters in the dining room and the reception staff. A special mention to Zoran in the bar and dining room. He was an avid England fan, he made us feel very welcome and taught us some croatian we are going back again next June to see our new friend. Thankyou to all at the Komodor see you June 2027.
