Dubrovnik Magic from Start to Finish
Our stay at Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik was absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome, and the level of hospitality throughout our stay was genuinely exceptional.
The location is spectacular — the hotel is just steps from the water, with gorgeous views over the Adriatic, and it’s also within a short walk of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. It was the perfect balance of being close to all the action while still feeling peaceful and luxurious.
Our room was stunning and incredibly comfortable, and waking up to those views over the water was honestly unforgettable. The hotel itself is beautiful, but what really made our stay stand out was the staff. The concierge and entire team were so friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble.
We were also celebrating a birthday during our stay, and the hotel went completely above and beyond to make it special. The kitchen team prepared a beautiful cake for us, the room was decorated for the celebration, and they even arranged non-alcoholic champagne after taking the time to understand our dietary restrictions. Those thoughtful details meant so much to us and made the celebration feel incredibly personal.
Breakfast was another highlight — an amazing selection, great quality, and an incredible setting overlooking the water. It was the perfect way to start each morning.
Between the breathtaking location, beautiful rooms, incredible food, and—most importantly—the genuinely exceptional staff, Hotel Excelsior gave us a stay we’ll remember for a very long time.
Absolutely amazing from beginning to end. We would return in a heartbeat and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! 11/10!
Exceptional stay at Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik
Our stay at Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik was absolutely wonderful. Everything was excellent, from the beautiful rooms and impeccable cleanliness to the outstanding service throughout the hotel.
A very special thank you to Chef Petar Obad, whose professionalism, talent, and attention to detail made our dining experience truly memorable. We were also very impressed by all the restaurant staff — everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
The breakfast was excellent, with a wonderful selection and high-quality food. Our room was beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly maintained, and a special mention goes to the cleaning ladies, who did an exceptional job and were always kind and helpful.
The bars and bar staff were also fantastic, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere with excellent service.
Honestly, everything about our experience was first-class. The combination of the beautiful hotel, delicious food, wonderful staff, and exceptional service made our stay truly special.

Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik — Great Location, but Small Rooms
We stayed at Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik and had a partial sea view. However, the room was very small and felt cramped. A large black column inside the room made it difficult to move around, and it was especially hard to see at night, creating a potentially dangerous area.
So far, my experience has also been that some employees do not seem genuinely interested in their work, which affects the overall service and guest experience.
The hotel itself is nice, and the location is excellent. It is within walking distance of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, restaurants, souvenir shops, and other attractions.
Compared with Hotel Croatia in Cavtat, the room at Excelsior felt much smaller and less comfortable. The hotel has a beautiful setting, but the room did not meet my expectations.
The shops around Dubrovnik were not particularly impressive compared with those in Greece, Türkiye, or Italy. However, the Old Town itself is magical, with historic stone streets, medieval architecture, and an atmosphere that makes you feel as though you have stepped into another time.
Overall, the location and Old Town experience were the highlights, while the small room, poorly visible column, and lack of enthusiasm from some employees were the biggest disappointments.

A perfect hotel choice!

Unexpected sight!
We didn't actually stay at the Excelsior, however I feel compelled to comment. Walking past it tonight after dinner we were stunned at what we saw in the Excelsior. From the road side footpath we saw a number of bathrooms as we passed. We could see double basins, baths and toilets. This is a busy path! I commented to my husband about this extraordinary sight and he laughed because there not just of another bathroom a woman's lower legs. She was obviously sitting on the toilet! Really?!? The building design is appalling.
