Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
i am Bernadette Cometa, a guest with my friend Junessa Hernandez at Hotel Adria Dubrovnik from Tuesday, 3rd March and it was our first day & first time to have dinner in their restaurant. i had a good impression of the hotel from the time we arrived that morning but that impression lasts when one of their restaurant staffs, Mira she said her name but not sure whether thats her real name, the tall lady, has been so rude to me. Me & my friend came directly to the restaurant after a long walk from old town & eager to taste the food and we brought some groceries outside with the bottled water. I was so thirsty as i am so tired. i asked Mira for water thinking there is a feee water & she offered to order in the menu but we didnt order. Since we brought one from outside, i want to drink as i am really thirsty & exhausted from walking, didnt know that its not allowed to have that water. I just asked her for an empty glass politely & she rudely aswered back to me ‘NO!! in a shout manner.. what an attitude of your staff that is? she could have politely answer me in a hospitable manner, i could have understand her. i just lost my appetite that night and so disappointed. she didnt even bother to say sorry for what she did! The male manager is the one apologizes when we left the restaurant which i appreciate. She should not be a frontliner with that attitude towards guests. i got disappointed at one point. I hope she will not do that again with other guest as it is really disappointing.
I had a pleasant stay overall and would recommend this hotel for those prioritizing cleanliness and a good meal to start the day. The housekeeping staff is clearly doing a fantastic job. The room was spotless upon arrival, which I really appreciated. The breakfast spread was excellent! There were plenty of options, and it was definitely the highlight of the stay. They also provide towels for the indoor pool.
There were several areas in the room that needed fixing. The sliding door on the shower needs fixing and the flickering light in the bathroom. The view to the marina was good although there were a couple of old buildings blocking the view (not the hotel’s fault though). The staff in the breakfast room were efficient and food was getting replenished quickly. The hotel is about 10 mins ride by bus no. 3 which is about €1.70 for a single journey or uber at €4.50 for about 5 minutes drive. For airport uber costs €20-30 and takes about 20 minutes. I would not recommend walking as some pathways are nonexistent and you have to walk on the highway and the stairs are a lot. And I mean a lot.
If the management addresses the minor repair issues in the rooms, it would easily be a 5-star experience. And although it is now almost 2nd week of May, the outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi indoors were still closed. We tried to get a massage done but twice there was no one in reception in the spa area. Although the hotel is nonsmoking inside, sometimes you can smell cigarette smoke in the hallway.
The hotel was nice and the location was good. An Uber ride to the old city was very short and approximately 7-8 Euros. We were able to walk down to the port and because we didn't want to walk back up, again, the Uber ride was short and inexpensive. The hotel breakfast was fine, we certainly did not go hungry afterwards and the front desk was helpful when we had questions. The room was clean and had a comfortable bed and good shower. We had a terrace with chairs that looked out over the port. The outdoor pool was not filled yet but the chairs were out and there was an indoor pool and a gym but we did not use any of those facilities.
This was a nice hotel. Clean and spacious room. Decent view. However getting to/from old town each day was a bit of a pain. Bus is included with Dubrovnik pass, but it can be packed and involves waiting. Uber worked well but price varied.
I’m not sure why anyone would choose to stay here. I was part of a group tour this time and had no choice. I’ve stayed in Dubrovnik twice before with hotels in other more touristy locations. The hotel is not near anything. As other reviewers have noted, if you manage to walk down the distance to the harbor, you’ll need a taxi to get back to the hotel. You are not near the old town whatsoever. No beach. You are essentially beside the highway. No restaurants or shops in the area.
The air conditioning in my room never adequately cooled even though I set it on 19. But the hallways were freezing. One small elevator for the entire hotel had most people taking the stairs instead of waiting. No staff at the pool/spa area to inquire how to get to the outdoor pool. The jacuzzi was broken and out of service. There were used towels on the benches of the changing area, but no guests were in the pool area. The fitness center was taken up by pods of some kind so little workout space remained. Certainly not the fitness center expected of a hotel this size.
The breakfast was great with many options. The view was very scenic but slightly marred by two decrepit cement buildings on either side. There was a makeup mirror and the shower worked well. My room had a small balcony. The bed was comfy.
