Cornaro Hotel

Stayed in the Cornado for 3 nights and had a fab time. Amazing location, right on the edge of Split old town / Diocletian Palace and just back from the harbour waterfront. Spacious, well equipped room. Spotlessly clean. All the staff were great. Huge comfy bed. Bathroom had oversize bath and separate walk in shower. Great rooftop bar (adjacent to pool) which also serves food. Pool closes at 6pm but bar stays open so more of a relaxed vibe then. We would stay again if visiting Split.

What a fantastically located hotel, placed right in the heart of Split. Everything you need to visit and see is only a short walk through Split’s beautiful and historic streets. On arrival, the reception staff were all welcoming, friendly, and very efficient. We arrived a few hours early. We were unaware that the check-in started at 14:00 (our tour operator didn’t mention this). We were directed to the roof terrace, and our luggage was taken care of. Staff on the rooftop plaza were just as welcoming as the reception staff. The rooms were made ready earlier than check-in time, which was great.

We had two superior rooms on the fourth floor: Room 431 & 432. The rooms were clean, well-lit, and spacious for a city break hotel. Rooms were near the lift; my initial worry was the possibility of being disturbed from the sounds of guests and lifts. This didn’t happen as the rooms have great soundproofing. The few issues we had around the rooms were attended to and resolved very quickly. Day 2, we had a strange smell in the bathroom coming from a roof service hatch. Reception didn’t look surprised, but maintenance staff sprang into action, and on our return to the room, the smell had gone, and the issues didn’t return. Thankfully, as who wants the hassle of being moved? Small tip: ask the power to be turned on to your towel rail as there is no other way of drying damp swimwear.

Breakfast was fantastic; see the other positive reviews, all true. If it wasn’t available, ask the attentive staff to request the kitchen to prepare the food you desire. We had an early start day trip arranged and were going to miss breakfast. The staff arranged for breakfast parcels to be made available. What service!!

Didn’t dine in the hotel as the choice in the local area is fantastic and a majority of the time half the price of the hotel (mainly the drinks).

The only issues we had with the hotel, and this needs to be reviewed and resolved by the senior management team and owners, is the security of guests around the property. The price of the drinks and food can’t be the only deterrent, as it’s half the price out and about in Split. Anyone can wander into the premises unchallenged, including the guest floors, and have full use of the facilities. Yes, there is lots of CCTV, but who is monitoring this? My partner’s daughter had an incident with a non-guest who followed her into the hotel and then into the lift unchallenged. She managed to secure herself in her room after he started asking her questions and wanting her shoes. He continued to bang on the door. She was unable to check if he had gone when the bang on the door stopped, as the doors have no spy holes. She made us aware of the incident. Security was appraised and was unable to say if the male subject had left the building. We assisted in a quick sweep of the stairs. Let’s hope he didn’t harass any other female guests. The rest of our stay, she didn’t feel secure going back to the hotel alone. This is a shame, as Split feels a very safe place to visit. Would I stay at this hotel again? YES. The staff, the location, and a plunge pool are the main reasons.

A truly pleasurable stay @ the Cornaro! Location along with comfort was 5 star!
