GOOD Things:
St. Lucia is a beautiful island, but this resort is in desperate need of updates and ruined the trip in part. This property was by no means an Autograph Collection standard, and Marriott should be offended by the affiliation. In summary, first room leaked and we had to get angry just to be moved to another room. Second room to which we were moved also leaked. Third room did not leak, but smelled like mold, probably from a former leak. Even as Marriott Bonvoy members, were not given an upgrade, despite the fact the resort was not fully booked, allegedly because we booked through a 3rd party. Television did not work for 3 of the 5 days of our stay. Bed skirt was stained.
Positives…majority of the staff were friendly and accommodating (especially Cathy Anne and Mervyn), food quality was good, grounds were well kept.
All in all, I would not recommend this property. Based on the price point, I would have expected better. Deeply disappointed!
My wife and I just returned from St Lucia visiting the Royalton. We had booked at the Hideaway section because it was our anniversary week and wanted a quieter environment. We booked through Jetblue Vacations and they were great! We found the JetBlue vacations booth once we got to St Lucia and they promptly offered us some cold water and suggested we use the restroom before the long trip to the hotel. Very friendly interaction. Our driver asked if anyone tends to get motion sick and was very good driving through the terrain. We made it in one piece as we enjoyed the sights! We were greeted at the hotel and offered rum punch! again very friendly interactions. One piece of advice, if you have a 'Q" in your last name, I think it's common for the locals to use a "g" instead. That mix up created a little difficulty getting situated with the Wi-Fi. Small potatoes! we finally figured it out when we turned the room TV on and saw the spelling of our name. As far as the Wi-Fi, hit or miss but usually had the ability to get online when needed, we used it mainly to keep in touch with family via text and Wi-Fi calls. The room was fantastic. Clean and spacious. Cleaning provided every day, minibar tends to be stocked daily, although they missed a couple of days, but again, small potatoes. We spent the majority of our time at the beach, not the best beach we've been to, but comfortable non the less. It had some seaweed you had to navigate (not Sargassum). but calm and very pleasant. I snorkeled everyday there and saw plenty of small fish. bars and bathrooms were close by. Shout outs to a few names that we remembered, Nelson, introduced himself to us without prompting and showed us around at the hideaway section. Raynelle in the excursion booth, she gave us plenty of information regarding tips of the tours offered. She even came looking for me towards the end of the day (i was enjoying the beverages) to make sure i got my CC to pay for the trip we booked to make sure we were on it. Paige, I think, in guest services who put up with me feeling pretty good the first evening, I had forgotten to bring an anniversary card for my wife, I asked if there was and gift shop where I could buy one for the next day. She told me she would help me out and take care of it. I didn't realize until the next day (damn all-inclusive beverages) that She had made up a card with my wife's name on it and delivered it with a bottle of champagne. Thank you so much!! Bryan, the Hideaway bartender, always a smile and prompt service.
Food: The main buffet had plenty to choose from daily, in my opinion it didn't change much day to day, relatively the same choices albeit very delicious. We booked the specialty restaurants for dinners all but two nights. We never had a bad meal! Teppanyaki was fun and DELICIOUS, Hunters Steakhouse, I had the mixed grill and the brisket, SO GOOD! Tex-Mex, Again Delicious, Calypso had to be my favorite, I got the Steak, it was the Best of the week! My wife loved the snapper. Dorado was our favorite spot for a nice, relaxing breakfast!! With a view of the beach as well. Loved the morning=ng staff at Dorado.
Did'nt spend much time in the pools, we have on at home, but the hideaway pool was a great spot to hang and overlook the beach/resort. The foam party was fun in the main pool, but it gets crowded.
We went on the Catamaran tour through the resort. They picked us up in the lobby, they allow you to bring resort towels. Took us to Rodney Bay, 10-minute drive to Sea Spray tours. What a great day! well worth the $. The trip at times was a tad bit unorganized, but what an experience! The waterfall was awesome, mud baths were an experience, and lunch was a great stop. Enjoyed the stop for swimming and snorkeling, Got to see plenty of fish and a cool sea snake! The Catamaran crew was awesome. Capt Happy, Delvin, to name a couple were great! Fun times. The views of the island from the sea were spectacular! I recommend this trip if you want to see the beauty of St Lucia.
All in all a great time! was the resort perfect? no but your vacation is what you make of it! All of the negative reviews I've seen with unfriendly staff, I can't understand. If you show friendliness, you will get friendliness back, one of the friendliest islands as far as the Native people go!! Oh, and one last thing, bring motion sickness pills if you are prone, the ride back to the airport can get ya, especially if you don't behave the night before!
I traveled with my family, and I can honestly say it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel completely exceeded our expectations. Everything was impeccably clean, the facilities were beautiful and very well maintained, and the atmosphere was perfect for relaxing and enjoying our vacation. We loved the variety of restaurants and the quality of the food. There were always options to suit everyone’s tastes, and every meal was a great experience. The pools, the beach, and the common areas were always in excellent condition, which made each day even more enjoyable. One thing that truly stood out was the exceptional service from the staff. Everyone was kind, attentive, and always greeted us with a smile, making us feel at home throughout our stay. Without a doubt, it was a perfect family vacation. We made incredible memories and hope to return very soon. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to enjoy an unforgettable family getaway.
We are currently halfway through our holiday and we are extremely disappointed. As a previous post has said, Marriott should be ashamed at the affiliation; particularly heading it an Autograph collection. I will be writing to them to suggest they remove that. As a Platinum Elite Marriott member, we do not expect this from an autograph hotel.
The first couple of days were great; just as advertised. Peaceful, respectful staff, tranquil. But yesterday a tour arrived of about 20/30 people and now there is a organised pool party for the second day running. This is not organised by the hotel, but yet the hotel aren’t doing anything about it. We complained yesterday, and nothing was done. Today, it is even worse; with the bass and microphone echoing reverberations across the entire complex. This is neither peaceful nor tranquil - especially when we paid for an adults only hideaway swim up room.
We have looked up the tour; “Passport Mafia” - a trip promising liveliness and pool parties. How can the hotel allow this; and ruin other people’s holidays for a small group. Having looked up their website, they are leaving the same day as us, so this is now how to remainder of our holiday will be. 18-30s style pool parties.
