I recently stayed at Iberostar Waves Jamaica for 4 nights and 5 days with my family. We booked our vacation through JetBlue Vacations and were supposed to receive a pool/ocean-view room. Unfortunately, the room we received was not what we expected, and we were also surprised that the balcony was shared.
During our stay, our TV stopped working because the cable went out. We contacted the front desk and were told someone would come to the room, but after waiting about an hour, no one showed up. When we went to the front desk ourselves, we were finally told the cable was completely out. Thankfully, we had brought our Fire Stick, but the lack of communication was frustrating.
The food was also disappointing. Some of the food was served cold, and there were not many options for toddlers or picky eaters. I was also surprised that they didn’t have plantains, especially at a resort in Jamaica. During the VIP breakfast for the resort’s membership presentation, I saw a roach and small flies around the pastries at the steakhouse near the Selection resort, which completely turned me off from eating there.
The water park was another disappointment, especially since we were traveling with a toddler. Some parts appeared broken down, and the area looked old and poorly maintained, with visible rust. For a family resort, I expected the children’s water areas to be in much better condition.
The most upsetting part of the trip was having teenagers repeatedly kick our hotel room door and run away. This happened at night and even woke up my toddler. We reported it to the hotel and eventually learned that the children’s parents had been contacted and that the family would be leaving the resort. The hotel did bring us a bottle of wine, but the entire situation should never have escalated that far.
Overall, there were too many issues during our stay—from the room, food, and poorly maintained water park to poor communication and the incident with our door. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I would not stay at Iberostar Waves Jamaica again.
Honestly an amazing time, great setup, clean, and alot of effort being put in. There are the odd miserable moody members of staff, especially when trying to order drinks/cocktails. My wife is Spanish and was fortunate enough to speak with some of the Spanish speaking Iberostar directors during our visit, which was very interesting to say the least. As they seemed to take genuine interest of how our visit was going. Food was excellent, and the room service was very prompt and polite Everyday. But we most definitely have to mention the Iberostar Waves entertainment team! In all honesty they made our trip what it was! Genuinely positive and a great representation of the jamaican culture while being extremely professional. V6, Freshh, DJ Tony T, KK, Jaleel, Big Wayne, Mickey, Too short, and Concrete just to mention a few, they work so hard and are a great unit and an asset to iberostar, you will most definitely not be disappointed with any of these members, they will do everything they can to make sure you are fully entertained from sun up to sun up AGAIN! That being said of course you won't find perfection, some beach vendors can be annoying, and some bartenders glum, but all in all if u want ease, relaxation and or entertainment thanks to the entertainment team iberostar Waves is definitely heading in the right direction.
Big up!!!!
My partner and I were so happy with our experience at Iberostar Waves Rose Hall. The customer service was excellent and the food was impeccable. However, what stood out mostly to me was the love and exceptional customer service displayed by our concierge Marcia. She was such a beautiful soul, and I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing her when next I visit. She was very helpful, and made our stay even more memorable.
The jamaican drug dealers were constantly at the hotel fence on the beach. This was uncomfortable to watch/ experience . Went to this hotel before covid as well and i could tell the service went down drastically. Everyone is expecting a tip, you don’t give a tip, you have crappy cocktails and so on . There are activities on the beach, this was a plus . Food is ok. Unfortunately the staff was not great , there are other places i would rather go. Also , every time we got out of the resort on excursions , i felt unsafe .
Had a great time here as recommended. Great entertainment everynight provided by the entertainment team. Special shout out to the host Too Short
