- RIU Ocho Rios

The Riu Ocho Rios is a fantastic hotel complex surrounded by beautiful Caribbean landscaped nestled in an enchanting environment. The hotel enjoys a beachfront location in one of the best destinations of Jamaica, at approximately 8 km from Ocho Rios town. Kingston is reachable after a 2 hour drive. This family-friendly beach hotel provides an excellent all-inclusive service and a wide range of entertainment options. In this hotel, guests can take advantage of all the facilities and services expected for a pleasant stay.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The location was good but not exactly what I preferred as it was not exactly on the main. If you want to go into Ochi Ríos (which is about 10 minutes drive from the resort) or anywhere else without using one of the readily available taxis that are on site, the walk to get to the main road is a good hike. All in all the service is excellent and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and are always respectful and ready to help and there is no lack of entertainment. Every night they have some sort of special events and the weekends are even better. I would definitely stay there again and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good place to stay.
Overall, this was the best holiday we’ve ever had. The daytime and evening entertainment was outstanding, and the food in the main restaurant was excellent with plenty of choice. Definitely book the steakhouse restaurant – the food was amazing, although you do have to sit outside. The hotel is also in a great location, with shops and Juici Patties within walking distance.
We travelled as a family group of 44 (including my partners mum), which meant my partner and I were able to experience everything the resort had to offer, including the adults-only swim-up bar and the late-night entertainment. If you’re travelling with young children, it’s definitely worth having family or friends who can watch them for a little while so you can enjoy these adults-only areas too.
Our Junior Suite was spacious with a lovely balcony, but there was nowhere to sit inside apart from the beds. The room floor wasn’t cleaned properly throughout our stay, and the in-room optics and mini bar were refilled very inconsistently. The biggest downside was the bar service – some bar staff could be quite rude and seemed to favour serving female guests, particularly in the evenings and at the adults-only pool bar. For a 24-hour hotel, the late-night food options were also very limited.
That said, none of these issues stopped us from having an amazing holiday. The atmosphere, entertainment, food and location made it a trip to remember, and we’d still recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Jamaica.
I would return to the resort, happily. It was so relaxing and beautiful. The staff were lovely and very helpful, and I enjoyed the food very much. My favorite was the st.ann's buffet. It was so varied and tasty. The room was very nice and quiet and I can honestly say it was a place I would recommend.
