Royalton Amazing
This was our first visit to Grenada. The people are so friendly, everyone smiles and helps you. We wish we could have stayed longer. I remember names that will stay with me forever: Miriam, Pavel, Bernardine, Brandon, Marcelo, and many more.
Don't pay attention to the bad reviews... The hotel is on an incredible island.
We’re here for a wedding and it turned out beautifully, however this place is nothing more than a red roof inn on the beach. Not exaggerating. Everything bad started when we got to the front desk and little Miss “Princess” (her nametag) behind the counter, decided to put her hand up in my wife’s face to tell her to stop talking because we got bait and switched on our room. Then we go to the diamond club to check into our room and get our wristbands and they have food there that has flies and gnats all over it. Truth. After an hour waiting, we were taken to our room, the presidential suite upgrade which has green mold all over the exterior windows overlooking the ocean and black mold all over the tile flooring. Yes there are two rooms, one with the king bed and TV on the wall and nothing else. The other with a cheap vinyl sofabed and a TV and a few pieces of really cheap furniture. There is no decorations in the room and all the furniture is basically built like children’s furniture or dormitory furniture. Can’t even fit into the small bathrooms and I’m not a big guy. All of my wife’s clothes hanging in the closet and her shoes on the floor are drenched from apparently a leak from the rain into the closet. Errrr Also every meal we ate, the waitress would say, “let me see if we have any left “. They were out of a lot of food. There was no cheese, tomatoes, peppers, or meat for multiple days at the omelette station for breakfast. Ugh. There is absolutely nothing remotely close to five star about this resort. Butlers have been super nice and did well with what they had to work with. We had our wedding at the Royalton in Cancun and it was absolutely amazing and gorgeous, but they have totally dropped the ball here. I don’t like using the word nasty, but this place is nasty and it’s insane what they are charging people to stay here for what you get. I would hate to see the non-Presidential Suites. Also to get to your room, you have to walk up over 60 steps up the mountain, no elevator, multiple times every day because the rooms are up high on a hillside and everything else is down below. They don’t notify you of that ahead of time. The website pictures and videos don’t come close to the actual conditions here.
We stayed at the Royalton Grenada from 16th to 28th June in a third-floor seafront room 15302
This hotel is definitely not for the typical British holidaymaker, especially if you’re over 40 and looking for a peaceful, tropical Caribbean getaway. It seems to cater primarily to the American market, with a lively party atmosphere. During our stay there were loud groups, hen parties, heavy drinking, shouting and swearing. .. and the Friday White party is certainly worth a wide berth.. If you’re looking for relaxation, this isn’t the hotel for you.
Our room was adequate, although I felt sorry for the housekeeping staff, as the cleaning equipment they were expected to use looked very poor. The air con was very good ..
The food was the biggest disappointment. Apart from the wonderful egg ladies at breakfast, there was very little that we genuinely enjoyed eating. The buffet regularly ran out of food, and replenishment was slow. Instead, we frequently walked along the beach to The Aquarium restaurant, which was absolutely fabulous. The food, service and atmosphere there were excellent, and it became the highlight of our holiday.
This was our third visit to Grenada and, sadly, I think it will be our last. We’ve previously had wonderful holidays staying on Grand Anse Beach, but the beach at this hotel was well below the standard we expected. The sunbeds had no cushions, making them extremely uncomfortable, and they were so low to the ground that anyone with knee or hip problems would struggle to get up. The beach itself was often littered with cigarette butts, wooden spoons and discarded coffee cups.
I also found the hotel to be seriously understaffed. Every day they seemed to run out of food, and it was hit and miss whether towels, tea or coffee would be replenished after the room had been cleaned.
Perhaps most disappointing was the complete lack of visible management. At no point during our stay did we see anyone from management walking around asking guests how things were. We also never saw a Food & Beverage Manager or a Housekeeping Manager, which perhaps explains why so many of the issues went unresolved. One particularly worrying incident involved a kettle we requested. It was delivered with the spout visibly held together with silicone. When my husband poured boiling water, the spout detached completely. I reported it immediately to housekeeping, but there seemed to be little concern. I considered this to be a serious safety hazard. Overall, we left feeling that this is very much an American-themed resort designed for guests looking for a lively, party-style holiday rather than a relaxing Caribbean escape. If that’s what you’re after, you’ll probably enjoy it. If, like us, you’re looking for peace, good food and a tropical atmosphere, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. A few really hard working wonderful staff who deserve a mention are Kenisha and Deleon from buffet and lunch .. and Nigel the barman at the pool .. I would also like Christian Butler the manager not to advise in his reply to this that you will be sharing this feedback to the relevant management because you clearly do not.. I was also told 4 managers at this hotel in 12 months .. You have been warned.
Pathetic service, horrible rooms and we don't even our rooms even after 5 hours post check in time. Do not come to this property . It's a all inclusive scam.
We stayed at Royalton Grenada for 5 nights and did Diamond Club. Best vacation and experience, especially with 2 toddlers with us. Our check in, experience, and rooms were amazing. The rooms were spacious and clean! Our room was right on the beach and near the pool, making our kids very happy! Our butlers, Quaver and Brad, were exceptional! They anticipated our every need and made our two children feel welcome and comfortable! Everyone we came in contact with were wonderful and welcoming! We highly recommend this resort!
