Grenada, Caribbean
Morne Rouge

The hotel is located on the 3 km sandy beach of Grand Anse. Shopping opportunities can be found in the immediate vicinity. It is approx. a 10-minute drive from both the airport and the capital, St. Georges.

This hotel, which was renovated in 2007, is a boutique property with 21 villas and suites. It is air-conditioned and has a lobby, 24-hour reception and check-out service, a hotel safe, cloakroom, a café, kiosk, conference facilities, Internet and WLAN access, as well as room and laundry services. It also features 2 restaurants, a bar and a cycle hire service. Parking facilities are available to guests arriving by car. Younger guests are sure to enjoy the playground and children's club.

The accommodations are very luxurious and spacious. The villas are beautifully designed in vibrant colours. Villas and suites have covered porches and spacious verandas. Most of the rooms have panoramic views of Grand Anse Beach. The living rooms are elegant and colourful. Most also have a kitchenette, breakfast bar, dressing areas, a hairdryer, satellite/cable TV, Internet access, a safe, fridge and king-size bed. En suite bathrooms, direct dial telephones, radios, hi-fi system, washing machines, ironing sets and individually regulated air conditioning also feature. Kitchens come with a cooker, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities.

The hotel has an outdoor pool, a sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols, and a gym. Massage and spa treatments are offered, with the latter subject to fees. The nearby beach is sandy and also comes with sun loungers and parasols. Surfing, tennis, volleyball, beach volleyball and badminton are also options. Lovely time

Family of 4 - 2 adult kids - and Mount Cinnamon lived up to expectations. We were in Villa 9, which is right near the top of the grounds and it's a lovely layout - downstairs to master bedroom, separate bathroom with walk in shower and then a second separate bathroom sink for those couples that can't bear to share, I guess. Upstairs into lounge area and open plan kitchen, which was well equipped. Then 2nd bedroom with 2 single beds, bathroom and shower. We had a small balcony and then the upstairs main balcony with seats and table. There was also a monster washing machine and dryer!

Staff all very friendly and helpful. Very well maintained and clean in all areas, daily house service. We went breakfast only (consistently good) which is how we prefer to do things, generally eat less when away - have a good breakfast and then eat out for either lunch or dinner. Having your own kitchen gives this flexibility.

Beach is great, it's a nice little walk and if you do stay here you must walk up over the headland to BBC beach - that is wonderful. 10 min walk or you can get the hotel to drive you there for 5USD each way.

Savvys (the beach bar/restaurant) is very nice, sun loungers set out for you as you arrive, complete with towels and being July the beach was quiet, very few hawkers - who were so polite anyway, not a bother when they did come up!

Supermarket about 1 km down the road - again the hotel will drive you there for 5 USD each way - but it's a nice little walk if only getting basics.

So, it's really nice! The downsides are few but meaningful - yes, it's a steep walk up to the rooms but it's not unbearable. But if you have any mobility issues, this is not the place for you. Again, the hotel will drop you off in the car from reception (no charge, so far as I am aware though we never used this service!)

Flying Fish restaurant (which is where you have breakfast) is what I would call a destination restaurant - wonderful views, great choice on the menu, special event sort of place and there are a number of restaurants in the area competing on this level.

And that's the problem with our preferred way of working - it was too expensive for eating out. Starters kicking off at £10, mains £25, deserts... when you add in drinks and the service charges (watch out for that where ever you go! 15% VAT and then 10% or more service) it's £200 job.

We did eat out a couple of times at the weekly BBQ down on the beach, which made for a nice evening.

Once we'd worked out the area the game plan would have been to walk down to Umbrella's bar (near the supermarket) as they do a good take away service and good prices. But I hurt my foot on Grand Etang lake trail so we never got to do this. Umbrellas is a good mix of locals and tourists - worth a look. We watched a couple of World Cup games there.

So, all in all it's a nice hotel, clean, well maintained with nice staff. And if you can stretch the budget to full board, you'll be loving it!

Being July it was low season - I got the impression that maybe fewer staff than in high. Everyone goes on about the sunset from the beach - but Savvys shuts at 5.30pm so no long sun downers there. The staff then transfer up to the Flying Fish, where there is a bar but there was no one fixed to the bar all the time - you have to go and get someone to serve you. Possibly this was just the time that we might be at the bar - 6.30 / 7pm ish but likely just low season. As we were leaving it was getting into Carnival so will have been busier.

Those are the only 2 minor niggles and neither really bothered me all that much as I enjoy cooking - the supermarket food was very good. Now a massive fan of Green Seasoning! And the staff all enjoyed the madness of me cooking every night!

Beautiful spot on Grand Anse

Sadly, we didn’t book to stay here, opting for an Airbnb. But if I was coming back to Grenada, this would be my choice. They offer limited day passes (prioritizing hotel guests) and we took advantage of those and that’s the basis of my review. We had the most relaxing day on the beach on what is the most privileged spot on Grand Anse - away from the hustle and bustle of the center of the beach with gorgeous views looking back into St George’s. Lunch was the best we had on the island and we ended up coming back a second day. The staff was kind and helpful. There was a small underwater sculpture garden just off the beach and my brother in law said he saw some great fish if snorkeling is your thing. They also have lots of lawn games all of which were in great shape. Cabana with shade and very clean bathrooms and a bar right on the beach = perfect. All in all, loved this place and wish we’d chosen it from jump!

My new home away from home...Beautiful and serene!

I absolutely loved my stay ❤️❤️❤️ LOCATION: Mount Cinnamon is a mid-size resort located at the southern end of Grand Anse Beach. It boasts a Mediterranean aesthetic with lovely suites and villas that sit atop the hillside just steps from the beach. Walking distance from nearby BBC Beach. 15 min rides from most all other popular locales on the island.
ROOMS: I had a Cinnamon Suite on the second level. When I walked in and saw the view through my wall of windows, I was blown away. It was a full panoramic view of Grand Anse and St Georges... sea to the mountains. I was speechless. The room itself was spacious, clean, with beautiful decor. I had a balcony, living room, large bathroom with shower, wet bar and mini fridge, and the most comfortable king sized bed. All rooms are up on the hill, so be prepared to get a glute workout 🙂 If you have mobility issues, no worries. There are shuttles available in minutes to pick you up from your room and take you around the property.
BEACH: Clean, quiet, no seaweed, not too rocky. No peddlers. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Can easily walk on beach from Mount Cinnamon all of the way to Grand Anse Market. Snorkeling and paddle boats were available, but I didn't try them.
POOL/SPA: Pool is pretty, but small. Due to the rainy season, it was hard to keep clean. The Spa space itself is underwhelming... no frills. However, the deep tissue massage I received was superb!
FOOD: I've traveled many places and usually resort food is bland to not offend international guests. Not Mount Cinnamon. Every meal - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - was top notch and flavorful. At breakfast (included with your stay), you have your choice of a warm entree (omelet, pancakes, English breakfast waffles, etc.) plus the buffet which has pastries, breads, fruit, cereals, and yogurt. The fresh fruit juice was delightful. Lunch is available at their beachside cabana restaurant, and the roti is a must try! Dinner at the hotel restaurant, Flying Fish, was divine... I tried the steak one night and the seafood curry another. The local seasonings and cooking style are delectable, but that's to be expected on the Spice Isle! Zero notes!
ENTERTAINMENT: Mount Cinnamon hosts a weekly social hour, special bonfire dinner, and a live pianist. The social hour was the perfect way for solo travelers and others to connect together and engage with the staff. The Bonfire Dinner was nice... it was set on the beach with a singer to set the island vibes. And, the local pianist was a nice elegant touch. STAFF: The only word that comes to mind is family. I traveled solo to Grenada and EVERY SINGLE person I encountered was warm, genuine, and kind. Management went out of their way to make me feel welcomed. There are too many to name so I won't, because I don't want to forget anyone!

Honestly, this was the energy everywhere I went in Grenada. And, that's why I plan to return soon and when I do, I'll absolutely stay at Mount Cinnamon 🫶🏾
