This cosy hotel is located in a paradisiacal setting right on a pristine white sandy beach in Worthing, on the south coast of the beautiful island of Barbados. The property is close to St. Lawrence Gap with a vibrant nightlife and a wide range of shops, supermarkets and nice restaurants. Thus, this is the ideal choice of accommodation when travelling on holidays as a couple or with the whole family. All guest rooms, studios and apartments come fully equipped with all the necessary amenities for a truly comfortable stay. They have a complete kitchen for guests to prepare their own meals and wonderful views from a spacious balcony or terrace. For those who wish to keep fit, they can visit the on-site gym and afterwards bask in the sun at the fantastic swimming pool. Apart from the games room and the on-site shop, travellers will be impressed by the numerous possible leisure opportunities.
I'm actually unhappy awarding two stars. We love this hotel for its location and views. The staff are helpful (most of them) and the on site cafe is perfect - run by a beautiful friendly woman and her team. So why two stars? We booked this hotel this year because we've been here before. Price wise it was no cheaper than other locations. We arrived from the UK to find that the lift was not working and we were placed on level 3 (top) no porters and no alternative but carry two cases up three flights. Reception were totally disinterested. We later learned that the lift has been broken since March. No pre warning that there were building works in the hotel (builders were all decent guys and no problem) but building noise all day every work day. No water one day and again no real interest from reception (pressure returned after builders left for the day!) This is a great location and a good hotel and it didn't dampen our enthusiasm for barbados - BUT i would have expected advance notice and reasonable alternatives to be offered due to builders and lift. Sorry
This hotel was a quiet very comfortable place, with an amazing beach and fantastic staff. We had an amazing holiday! If you want a get away from it all holiday, then this is it!
We arrived at the hotel hot and sweaty and there was no record of our booking. Not a common mistake. After much scratching of heads and management being called, we were told to go to the bar and get a complimentary drink whilst it was sorted. It seems the hotel receptionist had booked us in for September 2026 not 2025. We went to our room no 109. Lovely room with lounge/kitchen/diner with separate bedroom. Views from lounge onto pool and ocean views from bedroom. We had no hot water so a quick cold shower before we went out. No hot water again the following morning. Telephone in room didn’t work so had to traipse morning and evening to tell them we had no hot water. They kept boosting the water but only enough for one shower and that was a quick one. By day 5 we’d had enough and asked them to move us, which they did. We moved to room C104 which had constant hot water for the rest of the holiday. It seems it’s a common occurrence as lots of people we spoke to said the same thing. The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment but the noise didn’t stop us enjoying the pool area as it was very minimal Note there are no parasols over the loungers so if you want shade there is none. Parasols over the table and chairs though. These are fixed to the floor so no chance of moving them. I asked at reception if we could have a parasol brought over as there were plenty on the beach. I was told if I want shade then I’d have to sit at a table. There’s lots of shade around 3ish on the grassy area when the sun moves. All staff, maintenance people, and security are extremely friendly and happy. Not really any negatives apart from the hot water and shade issue so don’t let that put you off staying here. Yes I would 100% definitely stay here again and will be booking again for next September. The hotel is in an excellent spot for restaurants, bars and Massey supermarket. Turn right out of hotel and it’s roughly a 15 minute walk to the Gap. Very safe walking at night. Turn left out of hotel and it’s about a 10 minute walk to Rockley. Lots of places to eat and drink. You can go into any hotel to get a drink or food. We went in the Rockley hotel most nights for drinks. They even do happy hour and you don’t have to be a guest. Champers next door to hotel is a must but booking is advisable. They do a very reasonable three course set menu and food was amazing. Salt cafe in Rockley 10-15 walk is another definite must. Food was amazing. Again booking is advisable as it’s only small. We took mosquito spray from the UK with us but it didn’t help as we got lots of bites in first night. Receptionist advised us to buy protec mosquito repellent which we bought from Massey supermarket. This helped enormously and we hardly got any more bites.
The Blue Orchid (and its sister hotel Coral Mist) is a very nice hotel situated right on the beach in Worthing. Most rooms have lovely balconies looking out on the serene turquoise waters of the Pacific. Sadly, the ground floor room we were allocated (C102) was below expectation, with a small terrace giving only a very limited sea view and a very cramped toilet/ shower room, not the large tub/ shower featured in the hotel's publicity. We did ask to move but were told nothing was available, even though we found out later on that another member of the group had managed to change. Still, you don't come to Barbados to spend a lot of time in your hotel room do you? Good breakfast, especially the freshly cooked ommelettes; we didn't eat in the restaurant for dinner, but it seemed busy. There are any number of good eateries within easy walking distance provided you keep a close watch on the traffic. (Tapas, Salt, Naru and especially Champers are all really good. The rooms come with fully equipped kitchens and there is a supermarket within 15 minutes walking. So you could easily self cater here, but honestly, why would you when visiting such a beautiful island. When you book, insist on an upstairs room.
Can’t fault the location, beach front, stunning views from all rooms, peaceful, pool was nearly almost deserted, friendly staff, room clean and basic but value for money, accommodation was sufficient. There was no music or atmosphere and the bar is teeny and poorly stocked, go to Tiki’s and hire a lounger and get the best beachfront experience. Myself and my sister had B&B, don’t bother with food, there was 3 options for breakfast included, bagel, bread basket or oatmeal, bacon, eggs, omelette etc was additional charge. Please book room only, there are some fantastic eateries, try Bean & Bagel for a lush breakfast at a very affordable cost and 2 mins walk. A little information at reception would have been great, close by supermarket, bars and restaurants recommended etc. If you stay room only and explore then stay here.
