Hawksbill - Adults Only

The resort and facilities are very run down and overall we found the staff incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful. It’s good for a cheap break. Food and drink are fine but don’t come to expect good hospitality or service. We don’t understand the good reviews for this aspect - we must’ve stayed somewhere different!

Towels in the rooms and on the beach are practically unusable they’re so old and tatty and covered in bleach stains! You can only swap them out at certain times of the day which is totally impractical and not always available.

Location is beautiful and the grounds are immaculate. The rooms however are very tired. We understand some have been refurbished. Disappointed we didn’t get one of these given it was for our honeymoon, which wasn’t even acknowledged at check in. Mario however turned this around for us. He was fab and very responsive to plan a nice evening for us.

The pool is amazing. Beaches are lovely. Eden beach is a must for the tranquility but sun beds need to be replaced and upkeep needs to be better on that front too.

We struggled badly to get sun beds due to people reserving all day and not using them. The hotel have a policy for this but don’t enforce it!

A lot of little things easily resolved would make this so much better! It has real potential! Certain things like bubbles for breakfast and the mini bar are really nice touches.

My husband and I have always thought resorts were 'not our thing' so Hawksbill was a real wildcard for us. And it sure stepped up and knocked expectations out the park. The location, beaches and layout made it feel remote and peaceful. If you are an extrovert there is plenty of chances to mingle and for introverts, you won't feel crowded or pressured. The evening entertainment was laid back and pleasant - no wild parties which suited us fine. The food was simple but plentiful. Our room was fabulously located at the edge of the resort with the most gorgeous sunsets. The mattress could definitely do with retirement but it wasn't uncomfortable. We were so lazy and relaxed we didn't really feel the need to venture off the resort at all, although there is plenty to choose from if you want excursions. We did spend one thrilling day out doing the Adventure Antigua Xteme Circumnav tour around the island and I would highly recommend that. Loved all the wildlife around the resort, especially the ducks. But the real stars of Hawksbill were the staff. What an amazing team they have put together. Nothing was too much trouble and the smiles were in abundance. Any small flaws can be overlooked when you have such wonderful people looking after you. I do hope management look after their staff as well as they looked after us because they certainly deserve it. We usually never travel to the same place twice but I think Hawksbill might just become the exception. Of the 42 countries I have visited over the years, Hawksbill has firmly put Antigua in the top few.
