This was our 6th Sandal’s experience and one of our favorites! We were delighted to find that we were upgraded to a Caribbean Beachfront Butler Rondoval. The room had a beautiful design and literally a few feet from the beach (which was perfect because my husband and I are both beach people). The beach was one of the most pristine I have ever been on (as soft as it was white) and the Caribbean was a gorgeous turquoise blue. The grounds were perfectly manicured as well. It was the first time we had butler service and I have to say Daren and Shawn exceeded all expectations. From the moment we stepped foot on the resort Daren greeted us with a tour, champagne, and a cold cheese plate. He continued to check in on us throughout the week and made our anniversary extra special. He surprised us with our room romantically decorated with strobe lights, rose petals arranged around the room and a hot bubble bath. Shawn was amazing too. He continuously made himself available and helped me when I encountered an unpleasant interaction with a woman at the Caribbean Club Room. Shawn came, fixed the problem, and was able to calm me down (because I have never been talked to in such a rude and condescending tone in my life). Also, the butler team scheduled our reservations at each restaurant for us and was able to accommodate seating with other friends we came with for dinner (which was very helpful because the only complaint I heard about the resort was the difficulties to get reservations). Furthermore, each day they reserved beach chairs with a cooler packed with water and cold beer. I have to say that one of the reasons why we vacation with Sandals is because my husband loves to scuba dive. He was told before we left that Antigua does not have the best conditions. However, he and his best friend who have dove together for over 30 years said were thrilled with the marine life. They saw lots of black tip sharks, barracuda, turtles, rays, and tons of beautiful tropical fish. He said that Ivens and his team were first class. As he dove each day, my friend and I hit the gym before relaxing in the beach. We looked forward to starting the day with the person trainer Desmond. He was awesome! If you are looking to see the island, we loved the land to sea with sting ray excursion. Sharlana was an amazing guide that ended the trip with a local lunch with a beautiful backdrop of the Betty Hope Mill. The food overall was good. Our favorites included: breakfast- Eleanor’s (local omelet) , lunch- Courtyard (tuna melt), dinner- Soy and Eleanor’s (must try the lamb chops). My friends did enjoy the pizza and the hot dog stand for a late snack. We came with a group of eight and made remarkable memories together including nightlife. We found that sometimes we had start the party, but the resort had many options to have fun such as dancing to live music/DJ or singing at the piano bar with John and at karaoke. My travel agent has been telling us for years this is her favorite resort and now I know why. I will be recommending it to all my friends! Tip- Bring floats and pass them along before you leave :)
Pros.. beautiful beach, very large pool. Food is ok. Nothing spectacular but not bad. Rooms are ok. Though our tub was pretty dirty and had hair in it from previous guests.
A lot of activities and partying. And definitely geared to a young crowd with the music they play. Sandals advertises Antigua as being their most romantic resort. That is not the vibe at all.
Cons.. a majority of the staff were almost downright rude.
Understand, that there were some staff that were awesome. Very friendly and provided great service. But for every great staff member we came across , there were two or three that were terrible to deal with. Our experience went south upon arrival. The concierge and front desk attendant upon check in were awful. We have never experienced this kind of service at the other Sandals resorts we have been too.
All in all, we made the best of our week and we enjoyed our stay well enough, but we will not go back to the Antigua Sandals .
We enjoyed another beautiful trip here. We spent eight nights and loved every minute. We had a wonderful butler team Kevin , Dillon and Lauricia. One of the highlights was the catamaran sunset cruise. You definitely want to visit John in the piano bar for a fun singalong. The playmakers were energetic and friendly. The lovely Amanda also has a wonderful voice. If you can make the trip I highly recommend it.
We visited june 2026 & we were not advised about the ongoing construction work, we booked the honeymoon suite walk out rooms & the noise was horrendous from 8.30am to 5pm everyday. Couldn't sit on terrace as the noise & dust were so bad. We complained to reception & were asked was it the jack hammer that was annoying us! Reception said they would pass our complaint on to Guest Services. However during our 14 day holiday we received no acknowledgement from Guest services. On our return from holiday we have raised the issue with Sandals & 5 weeks later haven't even received an acknowledgement. Waited a long time for this luxurious holiday & have never been so disappointed
I highly recommend the Red Lane Spa. Threcia was a thorough and skilled massage therapist. Small of statue but huge personality, I had an amazing massage.
