Really enjoyable relaxing weeks break at the Tikida Beach. It’s adults only which does help the atmosphere , albeit many guests were retirees it meant the pace of the holiday was good. We had several worries having read earlier reviews about tipping , staff or pool beds and dining but I can honestly say they were totally unfounded. Pool beds - I’ve attached a picture from 7am yesterday when I woke and panicked rushing down to place towels - no need , lots of selection and despite the hotel being full to the brim the only people who Didn’t get front row were emerging mid afternoon.! Staff - always pleasant and hardworking and genuinely unless you lack Communication skills were always able to provide drinks - and no need to buy attention. Tip if you want but I saw some people do it and their experience was no better than ours - service was good and staff were friendly and hardworking. The hotel has its own beach , the food was very good , activities vía TUI always happening and all inclusive is well managed. The place is very clean , well maintained and the beds are firm and comfortable. Weather - some sea fret/ cloud in the mornings but a great base to explore Agadir / take a boat / bus or cable car or enjoy a walk everyday as we did. One downside - seagulls - nesting on roof and a little bit intrusive but a few cats knocking about that kept the upper hand ! I would recommend this for couples and with its beautiful pools and extensive facilities it’s a great place to stay.
Lovely beach front complex about 40 minutes from the airport. Fantastic decor and amazingly beautiful surrounding grounds. Well set out and with pretty much all you could need. Decent food and drink quality and choices and, best of all, really fabulous staff all round the site. Particular thanks to Mohammed from the upper pool bar and Somiya the room cleaner are warranted.
However, it wasn't all good news. The infamous sea mist that descends most evenings and often stays around most of the morning is a bit irritating. Additionally, as well documented, the sunbed 'wars' are ridiculous. If you don't get down very early on the morning your chance of getting a bed are limited because most will be towel claimed - and no one in the hotels staff are concerned about beds being reserved despite signs saying don't do it. Furthermore, for a so called TUI Blue Hotel, the all round entertainment is extremely poor. The TUI staff do a reasonable job to entertain during the day but, unfortunately, at night are hampered by a particularly poor standard of external options.
The burning question is, would my wife and I return? Personally I could put up with the sea mist because it was still hot, I could put up with the sunbed fights, I could put up with the poor entertainment because you can always make up your own but I couldn't put up with the daily incessant mind blowing loud tuneless music banging out from the lower pool bar. It was consistently so loud that I couldn't hear music from ear buds because of it. So the answer is a definite no.
I will start with the positives: The superb reception set high expectations for the hotel as I headed to the room Reception staff are very helpful and friendly All security staff were very chatty and polite.
This is marketed as a TUI blue hotel. And as such I’d expect so much better. Everything is just dated, tired and damaged. Towels and robes are tatty. The first room was dirty, poorly maintained and had black mould on the ceiling. And yes, we were moved to a new room after flagging these issues to reception, but first impressions are everything. Oh and if your hair is longer than a buzz cut, don’t even bother with the hairdryers!!
The pool area is lovely, however I wasn't expecting to experience 'towel wars' for the sunbeds, which apparently starts at 5am (this is what the pool attendants said and shrugged about) when many of the guests decide to 'mark their territory' with their towels, same feels in the same place every day, but not a person to be seen until late morning or lunchtime. Even with the signage around the pool, and the app clearly stating that sunbeds could not be reserved, I would say that by 8 a.m., around 80% of all sunbeds around the pool had been 'towelled'. So if you were at a morning excursion, by the time you returned, getting a sunbed was almost impossible.
I am not sure if this is an all-inclusive package thing with the food, but why does the food always looks amazing but manages to taste of nothing or something it’s not meant to? One particular 'treat,' described as a coconut dessert, tasted like washing-up liquid after a quick chew, and this happened on more than one occasion! Dessert roulette quickly became an evening occurrence!
The staff here are what makes this hotel an ok experience, but overall the hotel is dated and desperately needs many things replaced. I am sure it could be absolutely wonderful with a little bit of TLC, new (more) sunbeds, decent towels, enforcement of the sunbed rules, and a complete overhaul of the rooms and the cleanliness standards.
Arrived quite late in the evening but found check in easy and our bags were taken to our room. The room: Very spacious, clean and the third bed was made up for my daughter. There is daily bottles of water and a mini fridge with cans in it. The room was cleaned everyday to a good standard. The pool: you are given pool towel cards, and there is a towel service near the pool in which you can obtain and change your towels each day. You do have to get up at 7.30am if you want a sunbed by the pool but there were still loungers and day beds available up to about 9am if sitting pool side doesn’t bother you. Eating: the food choices are huge and no one will go hungry at this hotel. We didn’t really rate the à la carte restaurant. The snack bar at lunch gets very busy and the food isn’t replaced quickly. This also attracts a lot of wasps. The service: all the staff are helpful and go out their way to be attentive. The staff are always cleaning, especially around the pool areas as there is lots of birds. Tipping: it’s definitely appreciated but I didn’t notice a dip in service if tips were not given. Spa: we had the Hammam duo and this was really nice and relaxing. Overall, a really lovely hotel.
Lovely relaxed hotel, bit far from the marina (45min walk) but plenty of taxis available
