- Royal Mirage Deluxe

Lying at the heart of Marrakech, this hotel is situated in the Hivernage district, Menara - Marrakech Airport is only 3.4 km away. This club resort remains a testament to the authentic Moroccan hospitality and is most inviting with its various styles of design, and the amazing surroundings in this city of a hundred colours. The air-conditioned establishment is located on a main road and features many thoughtful amenities, including a playground for younger guests. There is a luxurious swimming pool with a children's pool and poolside snack bar in the outdoor complex where visitors can enjoy their leisure time. Further leisure options include a hot tub, a sauna and a steam bath. The resort comprises rooms and suites of many various categories.
Lovely pool, great location, friendly staff, spacious rooms, excellent breakfast. Great value for money.
I recently stayed at Royal Mirage Deluxe and, while there were some pleasant aspects to the stay, there were also several serious issues that significantly impacted my overall experience and fell well short of what you would expect from a 5-star hotel.
As a strict vegetarian who follows Hindu dietary principles, I made it very clear when ordering room service that I do not consume any meat products, with beef being completely prohibited due to my religious beliefs. I specifically asked staff for guidance on suitable vegetarian options.
Initially, I was suggested a chicken burger, which immediately raised concerns about a lack of understanding of basic dietary requirements. I requested clarification again and was then offered a pasta dish, which I accepted only after being assured it was suitable for vegetarians.
However, when the meal arrived, it contained meat. I took a single mouthful before realising this, which was extremely distressing given my dietary and religious restrictions. This was not a minor mistake. It reflected a serious breakdown in communication and basic food safety for guests with specific requirements.
I immediately contacted reception to explain the situation. Unfortunately, the response lacked urgency, empathy and any meaningful resolution at the time.
What made the situation even more disappointing was at checkout I was still aggressively asked to pay 260 MAD for the meal, with staff insisting it had been signed for. There was no acknowledgment of the error in providing incorrect food, no apology, and no consideration of the distress caused. The approach felt confrontational and dismissive rather than guest focused.
I would also add that the gym facilities were not reflective of a 5-star standard. The equipment and overall setup felt very basic and the amenities were limited compared to what would reasonably be expected from a hotel in this category.
Overall, while parts of the stay were enjoyable, these issues around dietary safety, guest handling, billing, and facilities are significant and should be addressed.
I would strongly encourage management to review staff training around dietary requirements, improve procedures for confirming meal suitability, ensure more appropriate handling of guest complaints, and upgrade fitness facilities to meet 5-star expectations.
I hope this feedback is taken constructively so future guests do not have the same experience.
Probably the hotel was 5* before some decades. As a tourism professional with more than 30 years experience, I can say that today this hotel cannot be rated more than 2*. The rooms are spacious but deteriorated and the breakfast is very poor. However, the staff is very welcoming and friendly. Also, location is OK. Paradoxically the hotel had no guests... (Feb'26)
Staff good, very good service as expected in this region. Breakfast very good and excellent value for money.
Otherwise, we were disappointed with the general condition of the hotel. It was quite expensive for us and the photos look amazing. But the experience was not as high as our expectations.
Many things could be done to quick-fix the maintenance and condition. Below is a list I give for the hotel and also as a description of where the faults lie.
Gym... The most important dumbbells are missing off the rack. Solution - replace them or buy additional heavy ones. Multigym machine cables need servicing as pulling is sticky and clunky. Add some yoga mats so that we can do floor exercises inside and outside on the nice grass space. Place some small towels in the gym for sweat. Place drinking water in the gym. Add just one or two kettlebells.
Room 310 maintenance issues... One cupboard door broken and hanging off hinge. Fridge problem with a part missing, caused it to over freeze. No bedside lights. Bathroom door broken so does not close and open properly. 3 wall electric sockets not working. 1 light switch not working.
Room 305 maintenance issues... Bathtub had no plug. Fridge not cold enough. No bedside lights. Balcony door does not slide open easily.
General, rooms... They need modifying, to achieve better soundproofing against traffic (horns), USB charging, easy-opening/closing balcony doors.
General value for money... The bar and restaurant are on the expensive side but the bar lounge facilities are good. Open late, open early, opens out on to the poolside, well stocked, sports TV, good sound system. Good service. Location is good. Concierge is OK. Could do with a kettle in the rooms for tea drinkers.
I read all the reviews of this hotel before coming here, and thought, surely it's a 5-star and it will be okay. I will say that the staff are very welcoming, but that is genuinely the only good thing that has happened since I arrived. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted and given tea. Then, someone took us to our room. We'd paid for a deluxe double room with a pool view, and for some reason me and my husband were shown to a twin room with a brick wall view? I don't understand, am I expected to sleep in a separate bed to my husband🤣 We then told them we asked for a double room with a view, then we were shown to another room. This room was a double. But O.M.G. freezing cold. It's winter here right now and drops to about 5 degrees at night. The room had no lamp in it. There is only one light switch and as soon as you flip it about 5 bright lights blind you. So in the evening, there is no dim light. And in the day, it's the jarring bright yellow lights. So then I proceeded to ask for a lamp. I was told there is no lamps in the hotel. Okay. Whatever. Then, it got to night time. It was absolutely freezing in this room. So it was essentially a dark and cold room. At this point I'm thinking, I should've just stayed in England. Anyway, I spend this first night in this freezing room and wake up poorly😍 Then I ask again about the heating which isn't working (third time now) at which point an engineer comes into the room, doesn't know any English so speaks a lot of gibberish to my husband and leaves. We are told to wait for 20 minutes for heat. It's still frozen. Please avoid this hotel at all costs. It is genuinely much more like a 2 or 3 star. I've stayed in 3 stars much better than this.
