SHOCKING!!!
Travel a lot and never stayed at a RIU before and never will again!! Where do I begin???
- Pool Area
The sun beds are completely plastic; do not be fooled as I was from the photos! The inner beige which looks like a cushion on the photos is plastic so the entire sun beds are plastic and there are no cushions available for anyone -even the elderly or those with disabilities. They are extremely uncomfortable. There are no small tables provided whatsoever so no where for people to put their drinks which means drinks are continuously knocked over resulting in flies and wasps. Additionally there is no where to put beach bags or cover ups. My beach bag became soaking wet from someone who had knocked over a drink behind my Sunbed which then spread to the bottom of my bag. Worst of all is the pool and there is only 1 outdoor pool closed at 6pm everyday on the dot!! I have never ever been anywhere in the world where the only outdoor pool closed at 6pm!!! People are suppose to be on their holidays and as it is still in the high 30’s in September why does the pool and pool bar close at 6pm??? 2) All Inclusive When you book an “All Inclusive” holiday you expect this to include alcoholic drinks even if it states “local drinks”. Here the local drinks contain only a small trace of alcohol. They are completely watered down which should be communicated instead of just stating “local drinks”. From 10pm when the main restaurant closes until breakfast the next morning there is NO FOOD AVAILABLE; this is NOT ALL INCLUSIVE. The morning is exactly the same; following the end of breakfast at 10:30am until lunch at 12:30am there is no food available. Indeed, there is not even an ice cream counter. The lobby bar closes at 12pm and again there is no where to get even a soft drink until breakfast the following morning. THIS IS NOT ALL INCLUSIVE 3) Mini Bar When booked the holiday clearly said that the mini bar was topped up daily. The mini bar is COMPLETELY EMPTY. No one fills the mini bar so from 12pm when the lobby bar shuts until breakfast the following morning only water is available. THIS IS NOT ALL INCLUSIVE 4) Free Shuttle Bus While the shuttle bus does offer a very comfortable air conditioned service the timings are unreasonable. For example, the last return journey ends at 8:30pm which is useless for people wanting to go into Marrakech for the evening. Additionally the shuttle doesn’t start till 10am so if you want an early start in Marrakech it’s impossible as you need to allow 30mons for the journey. Yes, the free shuttle service is good but it runs intermittently and the last return journey of 8:30pm is unrealistic. It seems the service as with everything else is geared to what the hotel want and not the consumer who are the holidaymakers!! The only positive is the staff are professional, dedicated and go the extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as they can. Even a good team cannot hide the shortcomings and poor management!! I will never ever stay in a RIU again..,

Great stay
The whole holiday was good. The hotel is a lovely relaxing place. The bedrooms are spacious and clean, bottled water left daily, comfy beds. The pool area was large and kept clean with plenty of sun beds. The animation team were hard working and friendly. The food was good we could always find something to eat, the bar service was wonderful but after you went back after your evening meal waiters were thin on the ground so you had to fetch your own drinks. The reception staff spoke great English and were very efficient. Overall a good break
Highly recommend this Hotel
A fantastic week here in September. I personally like the fact that the rooms are separate from the hotel buildings, which makes them quiet and adds to the relaxation of a holiday. Location, is a little far out from the main centre of Marrakech but a daily free shuttle bus, which you need to book on the Riu app is very useful. Food is very good and plenty of choice, although as others say some does become a little repetitive. There isn’t full labelling of dishes, which can make it challenging at times when selecting. A fantastic foyer area with lots of areas to sit, which even at the busiest of times doesn’t make it noisy. If you like the shade there are plenty of areas to tuck yourself away from the sun. We found all staff to be very helpful and polite. An excellent atmosphere all around the resort. More information about daily shows on in the theatre and pool bar are in the evenings would be very useful. We didn’t attend anything, as no information given. The spa, is well priced but again a lack of information of what is available and costs. Scanning a qr code isn’t that useful to some, I’d rather see a brochure, perhaps in the room? There is a photographer on site, his display board outside his studio, doesn’t give the best of impressions and is faded and dated. Having said that he seemed busy and advertised his ability to “manipulate” your photo’s as required, which made us laugh. A lovely paved walk around the outskirts of the grounds, is perfect for a stroll or run to work off the calories, if you don’t fancy the gym. An inside pool which is handy too. Overall a fantastic holiday in a very clean, friendly hotel. I’d def recommend and am hoping to go back to again.

Dont bother with the Spa
Lovely hotel and staff. Would have been nice to be able to book in for the hotel restaurants more than once during the stay and was quite dissapointed with the Spa. To say it cost us more than it would have in the UK, the treatments were incredibly rubbish. The staff put no effort into it at all but they were friendly.
