Nestled in a traditional Moroccan riad within Marrakesh's old town, this hotel is surrounded by the vibrant atmosphere of the souks and conveniently close to Jamaâ El Fna Square and the modern Gueliz district. Each bedroom includes a private bathroom. Guests can unwind and dine in the tranquil patio or enjoy meals and sunbathe on the terrace. The welcoming staff is delighted to share Moroccan traditions with you. Airport and train station transfers are available for a fee. Please note that a local city tax of €3 per person, per night, is not included in the room rate.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I stayed in Riad Dar Saba at the beginning of June. This is a beautiful historical riad that maintains the ambiance of the past. My room was on the third level with access to an open terrace. The room was comfortable and clean, and the air-conditioning worked quietly. In general, the room was very quiet, so I woke up to the sound of birds singing. The riad is very well located: it is only a 5-minute walk from a large parking space. This makes it easy to be found by your tour guide if you book a tour. There are always taxis available at that spot. The host, Ayub, is very nice and speaks both English and French. He can help organize a tour and is always available if you need something. I enjoyed staying at Dar Saba a lot and would consider it for a real holiday to enjoy Marrakesh and its surroundings.
Ok, bad stuff first. The approach to the Riad will give some people the heeby-jeebies, a narrow lane which goes under several buildings. As a guy I was ok with it but my mother wouldn't have stayed there because of it. Check which room they're giving you. The main ones looked good but I was in the shack on the roof that looked like it had been put together by his mate Dave on a Friday afternoon. They shouldn't be letting it out; dodgy electrics, and, no hot water! Said he'd look into it but there never was. Ok in September but maybe not in April. The room is right next to the roof terrace, so every evening people going past the window and they always left all the lights on.Good stuff; Ayoub was lovely, and the breakfasts also very good. It's a budget place and you get what you pay for but don't stay in the shed on the roof.
Small riad not far from medical. Very friendly and knowledgeable host. Will organise trips etc. Evening meals available and can order food from outside. Rooms clean and tidy. Very good value for money. Breakfast is usual Moroccan with bread ,pancakes, honey ,jam tea coffee.
Let's start with the positives Ayoub was fantastic and could not do enough for us. The riad is a walking distance from the market which was fantastic. Now for the negatives the pictures are deceptive it is not what is looks like and definately needs some renovation. The road to the riad is dirty and smelly. We asked for a triple room and the room we were given was definately not big enough for 3 people. The room needed renovation with paint cracks and tile cracks. The bathroom was smelly and was in need of renovation when we complained we were given air spay and we had to constantly spray the bathroom to get rid of the smell. In my opinion that room should not be used until it is renovated and on reflection we should have refused the room. Tola
It was a cozy stay at Riad Dar Saba with the hotel host Ayoub. He helped us with everything, gave great tips, and was the best host. This riad had a somewhat lower standard than we expected — the room was noisy due to non-fully sealed windows/doors, and the room were cold but could easily be fixed by the AC. The shower was hard to manually regulate the heat of the water.
It was very nice to be served breakfast every morning, but the portions were small and almost exactly the same every day. It would have been lovely to have some fruit, vegetables, or maybe something sweet included.
Overall, it was a cozy and pleasant stay that felt very genuine and warm. I would definitely recommend this Riad!
