This ancient 18th century riad is situated close to the Bab Laksour, also known as The Gate of Palaces. Guests will be conveniently situated near the Koutoubia Mosque, with the famous Jemaa El Fna square only a 5 minute walk away. Majorel Gardens and Bahia Palace are both around 5 minutes away using public transport. This charming, family-friendly historical hotel offers rooftop terrace with a panoramic view of the Koutoubia Mosque and the Atlas Mountains. Guests will find the peaceful atmosphere in their well-appointed rooms very welcoming. Those who enjoy soaking up the sun can do so beside to the outdoor swimming pool on the rooftop. A delightful dining experience awaits guests, as the main restaurant is out on the patio.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I had an incredible stay at Riad Catalina and cannot recommend it enough! From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by its stunning beauty — the charming architecture, the beautifully decorated rooms, and the tranquil courtyard create a truly magical atmosphere. The riad exudes authentic Moroccan charm, making you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale.
What truly made my experience exceptional was the staff’s genuine warmth and willingness to go above and beyond. They treated me and my Dad like family, ensuring every need was met with kindness and care. Special thanks to Manager Nadia, whose attentiveness and welcoming nature made us feel right at home. Khalid and Muhammed were also incredibly helpful, always available to assist with anything I needed and offering valuable local tips to enhance my stay.
Overall, Riad Catalina isn’t just a place to stay — it’s an experience filled with beauty, comfort, and heartfelt hospitality. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable Moroccan getaway!
We came across Riad Catalina via our TUI rep due to unfortunately our 9 month old daughter being taken unwell at the airport on our return. We was taken to hospital where she received treatment and we was discharged. We were left in Marrakesh with nothing. We managed to return to our original hotel however due to it being a Moroccan holiday whilst we were there the hotel was fully booked for the further 2 nights we needed to stay before returning home. We booked 2 nights at Riad Catalina not knowing what to expect but we needed somewhere to stay urgently. From start to finish I could not recommend this hotel enough. Nadia met us on arrival and we were met with warmth and friendliness straight away. We were provided refreshments and could just relax and take in the beautiful scenery of the hotel terrace after a stressful 24 hours. We were taken to our room which was stunning and perfect for what we needed. Our 2 nights here were short and sweet however we felt home from home. The hotel itself is beautiful with everything you could need. The terrace where you eat is so relaxing and looks magical at night. The staff were so accommodating and friendly and could not help enough. The food here was the best we’d had since arriving 10 days prior. We managed on our last day to go exploring after being discharged from the hospital and it is a perfect location for the market and the souks. The pool on the rooftop is so refreshing and has lovely views. Overall I would recommend Nadia and this hotel again and again without a doubt. Don’t miss out on staying here and meeting Nadia and the staff as you’ll regret it. We can’t wait to come back one day. Lots of love ❤️
The Riad Catalina is such a great place to stay, right in the heart of the city.
The hotel is beautiful, inside and out, showing the true history of Marrakech and its culture and I loved its secluded personal setting.
The staff were so pleasant and helpful every day, always ready to answer questions and help with organising trips away.
The food was first class and you’ve got to try their selection of Tagine, from fish through to chicken they’ve got it covered!
RIAD CATALINA, From the airport which is only 25 mins away (l got in-drive 70 /80 M.A.D ) you just need to walk out of the terminal building and turn right and walk 1 minute away to be able for the cab to stop to pick you up. Riad Catalina is a bit difficult to first find you will need to stop around the corner then you will need to weave through the narrow passage ways with lots of cats & kittens wandering around, you come wooden door which you will need to buzz to get in a small reception that leads on to a large outdoor courtyard with table and chairs to match the potted plants, trees that stretch to the top floor and a water fountain in the centre was all very calming and tranquil. The room is on the small size and didn’t have a small fridge or safe but all very clean and the air conditioning was very good, the door to the bathroom when closed kept it nice and dark and cold but when opening the door in the night made a lot of nice which could wake your partner up in the night The breakfast was as l expected cake, pancakes Jam, honey, boiled eggs fresh Mellon ( one morning) yogurt another morning, fresh bread fresh orange juice 😊 coffee or tea coffee was good. As l didn’t want any cake and pancakes Jam l asked if l can have a omelette which didn’t seem to be a problem for them, the staff were all very helpful and nice and made us feel welcome. The pool was on the roof top which was nice and sunny so the pool was a lovely temperature, it had a seating section to the side where you could dangle you feet if you liked And sunny beds to each side, you can get a towel from the staff before you go upto the pool, unfortunately there is no cafe at the top or a phone intercom to be able to get food or drink so you need to go all the way down to ask, ( they have told me that they are going to change that in the future with an intercom system And they are thinking of putting fridge in all rooms 🤞 I did have a very nice 3 days stay and it’s very easy to get into the market and restaurants and for just walking around so a good location And if you do like to have a drink of alcohol and eat close to the riad is 2 places 1st is a 4 minute walk to a quite roof top ( hotel) MACHI MOCHkIL And for a much more lively bar with dancing food and alcoholic drinks, kabana bar, also about 4 mins walk from the Riad
