- Riad Ailen

Nestled in one of Marrakech's last authentic districts, this beautiful riad offers a unique and restful atmosphere. Explore the vibrant souks and reach the iconic Jemaa el-Fna square in just a 15-minute walk. Relax in various lounges, on the terrace, or under the Berber tent. The cozy rooms blend simplicity and modern comforts, including private shower rooms, air conditioning, and safes. A refreshing patio pool and wall fountain enhance the tranquil ambiance. Golf enthusiasts will appreciate the course just a 5-minute drive away.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We had a lovely stay, night porter met us from taxi upon arrival , was very helpful, he made our breakfast also which was delicious, also booked further taxis for our day out plus evening restaurants , bed and room v traditional ,clean and perfect for our stay.
Long weekend trip to Marrakech spent at Riad Ailen. Was welcomed by warmth by Abdul with Moroccan mint tea and biscuits despite being late and dark.
Bedrooms comfy and clean, it’s not a 5 star hotel but has everything you need and team could not be more helpful.
Breakfasts were fresh and tasty with freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs, bread jam, honey, waffles and a pot of coffee.
It’s close to the city wall, for nearness to taxis but this can mean a 15 / 20 minute walk for main souks and square. If you’re arriving at night try and get someone to meet you but the locals are very helpful.
It’s not a 5 star curated westernised experience but rather a small, more personal experience with great hosts.
Perfect place to stay in Medina. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms clean. Breakfast a nice addition. Roof terrace a boon for relaxation. Would definitely stay again. Outside the main tourist areas which is a bonus and gives a different perspective on day to day life in the medina. Very close to Bab Aylan gate which is the pick up/drop off point for taxis and trips.
When we arrived, no one to meet us outside, it was a 400yard dirty walk through the stinky alleyways no sign how to find it, we had to ask 3 people one new but wanted money when got there, we waited in this alleyway after 5 minutes got a response, when we was allowed in we had a mint tea, when completing the long process of paperwork, the maid still never got the room ready, we never got offered any breakfast, while other guest were offered, we was feeling dirty &hot at this time, eventually we got in our room, hot the air conditioner not working, the safe was a sham could open with any key, the room for three off us was a bitter disappointment the double bed had to climb over the bed to get in as the sides were only 10 inches wide on each side, the single was a low sofa, not proper adult size, the sheets were dirty not fresh, we had no choice as Husna the owner was always going out and no one there spoke one word of English, she never answered our calls so we had no refreshments or snacks, only food that was prepared for the evening, so we kept asking when food would be ready that was a Misson as we got 4 answers 5 6 7 8 o'clock, we got to 4 o'clock and local food was dirty unhygienic so we then found it hard to get any food delivery eventually got a Macdonalds not as good as normal but filled a need, then came a bang, someone said dinner at 6 o'clock pm still no sign of Husna we had but had to spend money twice and then over full with food then had a restless night, the toilet was small the shower was small could not do either properly, because there was for me no room to manoeuvre, so wet showered to dry of, down for breakfast 1 egg omlete bread butter and jam orange coffee that was it, that is not a continental breakfast, we complained to people who could not speak English, no sign of Husna, we then decided to find another hotel, when we did, Husna arrived my daughter told her, she was not bothered as she was getting paid for the full week, then demanded we pay full city tax we paid her the 1 day as we had to pay the next hotel, so she was bitter and also wrong as she was quids in not having to feed or look after us and would also get some other su ckers to move in, paid and left this hell hole. These people who say they had a good time never had my experience, because are mainly backpackers and want a cheap holiday suit them fine, not for me or someone looking for a clean holiday with proper service. We paid for another hotel and are happy. As for Husna she was rude un attentive and did not care 1 jot, very unprofessional and shameful. Tut tut
The Riad is absolutely beautiful and the staff so welcoming, helpful and friendly. Our room was perfect, had air conditioning and I found the bed comfortable. We did not have a conventional shower but I really didn’t mind as it was part of the authentic experience. Breakfast was lovely with delicious orange juice, tea, bread/rolls and honey. The roof terrace was an oasis of calm and the perfect place to relax before and after a busy day in Marrakesh.
It is very close to Bab Aylen which is where you get dropped off/picked up for tours and taxis etc.
